caffeine before an ultrasound? Sunshine0302 1 child; North Carolina 4777 posts

I'm going to the doctor today to see my lil one & hopefully determine the sex. Is there anything I can do to ensure that the baby "cooperates?" My boss drank a coke before her ultrasoundand she swears by that. I keep reading that Coke is not good for the baby & will make the baby hyper. Iwas acaffeine addict before my pregnancy but haven't had any infour months. What worked for yall?

If you don't want the caffeine, drink orange juice instead. But keep in mind they need to take measurements and my guy was hopping all around so much that it took forever to get pictures of his heart.

I drank a coke before all of mine.

Caffine in excess is bad for the baby (and you!) but in small amounts it won't hurt.

I had juice before I went, but the u/s tech was running late then the baby got all the sugar and wouldn't hold still for measurements lol. .. we did get the sex and my u/s took over 2 hours so she could calm down and get measurements

My sister in law drinks a coke before hers. I dont know what I am going to do tomorrow I want to make sure I get to see the goods down there lol. I might just eat some pancakes or something sweet for breakfast and that will help. I know I have to drink a quart of water before hand so a coke might not be a good idea for me lol.

lol. this baby LOVES sleeping all morning, doesnt wake up until 1pm or so. i drank a pepsi before his ultra. he wasnt fully awake. we only got "the shot" cause he finished stretching right before she took the picture. try juice, or to schedule your appt when baby is active (if possible)

I was worried whether the baby would be too hyper. I think I may take a few gulps and drink some orange juice. I ate a bunch of sweet tarts one day and felt little jabs for hours. It's crazy what sugar can do to a baby. I just want to make sure that we can see what we need to see :o)
