How do you know for sure if you're having real contractions or those braxton hicks cotractions? I know I don't need to rush off to the hospital unless they're really close or anything, which they aren't right now, but I'm just wondering how to know a difference anyway(besides them being so far apart when they're real & them being unpredictable when they're BH)... but do real contractions feel like menstrual cramps? I've felt cramping twice tonight, that lasted for probably at least 10 minutes (maybe a little longer?) each time, but it was about 3 and 1/2 hours apart. I also felt it in my lower back too if that makes any sense. Is there a way to know for sure based on how it feels? Or do I just have to wait around and see if they keep getting closer together? :?
Ten minutes? Holy hell.
Mine didn't feel like menstrual cramps. I felt like I was going to die while shitting myself. I wasn't literally shitting, just... that's what it felt like.
With my daughter it felt like menstral cramps the day before I had her, turns out I was in early labor. With my son I was induced and ebded up having a c-section because he was to big.
Well, the baby dropping into your pelvis can feel like cramping also. My contractions just only feel like tightening but they are the real ones. Early labor doesn't nessecarily hurt until you get to active labor. The only way to know for sure is get on the monitors and have them see if your cervix is changing. For me, the baby dropping and engaging felt like severe cramping in my pelvis and lower back near my tailbone. Keep timing them and if you feel better on all fours it's probably the baby pushing down a little to agressivly. Good Luck!!
Im have the same questions! I dont know a contraction from BH. But i have been having tons of Bh and the period cramps since i woke up the morning. But the cramp has been constant since the morning its not coming and going. It has been killing me since i woke up and my Bh contractions i will get alot in one hour then wont have any for like 20 mins then i get alot again. I have not been counting them or timing them cause i dont know if the Bh count or not?????
You'll know when they are real!
I would only get BHs when I would walk for a while...
The night before I had Ellie we went to L&D because she stopped moving.. I ws monitored, she was ok. But they kept me over night.. At 4:30 AM I had to walk around.. The bed was killing me! Thats when I noticed I was having menstral like cramps... I timed them till 7:30 AM.. THe nurses confirmed that I was contracting, but not bad or close together... They checked me and I was at 3 cm.. They sent me home.. Like 4 hours later they got WAY WORSE!!! Like the worst period cramps ever! Started out just stronger and then started getting closer and closer till they were like right on top of each other...
I know how you feel about the bh contractions, with my son I was put on bed rest at 4 months because the dam dr wouldnt believe me that I thought I was having real contractions. I went to the hospital at 4 months got hooked up and found out I was having real ones , that scared me . I couldnt believe how stupid the dr were. After that I couldnt tell if I was having real ones or bh, I was in and oout of the hospital for 2 months after that and each time I was given medication to stop the contractions, eeach time I went in they we real contractions.
