I do think it may be somewhathereditary. I know I had one when I was 4 years old and my oldest son had one when he was 18 months. It was the scariest night of my life. :( He ended up having a total of 5 before his temperature went down. I thought there was going to be some type of permanent damage but there wasn't. He hasn't had another once since... hopefully he never will.
That happened to my younger brother when he was a baby... My mother said it was one of the scariest things to ever happen.
My brother out of the 7 kids my mom had was the only one that had one. She was scared out of her mind when it happened to him. It only happened once to him.
