So today at my 28 week doctors apt i was told i am very very anemic and could most likely die giving birth this time around if i loose any amount of blood! So inorder to make sure that doesnt happen i have to take 2 iron pills,2 prenatal, and 2 stool softners everyday until i give birth and even then im VERY HIGH risk! I also will be getting a blood test every week to make sure my blood count is going up! I will prolly be induced or even have a c sections but only time will tell! Im not in the best of mood after hearing this from my doctor and really all i wanna do is NOT be pregnant anymore! I am still a little pissed off about how she aproached me and said it like it wasnt a BIG FREAKING DEAL! IDK what to do, im really worried and this doctor doesnt seem to give a rats ass that she just told me i COULD DIE giving birth! I told my mother ,father and sister inlaw and they are all very pissed off at how the doctor handled things! My father told me i should go to another doctor at a different hospital and get a second opionion to make sure this lady knows what she is talking about/maybe get better care and understand all of it better! Very random things keep going threw my head like maybe i should just take the whole bottle of iron pills now or slap the stupid doctor accross her face! IDK im prolly sounding REALLY stupid right now but im pissed and freaking out at the same time! Oh and i also spent 6 HOURS at the hospital with the doctors running tests and no one would tell me why the hell they were testing me untilthat dumb doctor came in and told me im anemic and could die giving birth if i cant get my blood count up before i give birth (with no expression on her face)! Anyways just needed to vent and sorry it was so damn long!
Yeah, are those stool softeners doing anything, damn I would be constipated as fuck! ha ha
My opinion is .. GET A SECOND opinion, maybe from a high risk OB
yes i would be very pissed if my doctor handled it that way. that is messed up beyond belief. how low is your iron anyway?
I would try to get in to see a high risk OBGYN... they would have a lot more knowledge about the situation and could ultimately make it a safer situation for you and the baby. Good luck to you!
Yeah get a second opinion. If they wouldnt tell you what they were doing when they were doing it, its not very professional!
i was also very anemic.....and couldnt even keep the iron pills down...we were both fine....heck im still anemic now!!!

If they are that worried about it.. they will just give you a blood transfusion before hand. That doesn't even make sense to tell you you could die. There are plenty of ways to get your blood count up before hand. Do you know what your levels were by any chance?
I was borderline needing a transfusion when I delivered last week. I am a nurse... and with what my levels were, any time I've had a patient with that low a level they got a transfusion. But as I was not having any symptoms, and although I was super low, I didn't drop anymore, he let me not have it. I am now taking iron pills, although it's another med that is the same but a much higher dose, I have to take it for the next 4 months.
I would see another doctor, because while it is serious, there is no reason to tell you you could die. Like I said.. there are plenty of things to bring your levels up

I doubt you will die. Have you heard of a blood transfusion. Come on, now.
Why the hell would they schedule a c-section for an insanely anemic person?? That's the number one way to lose a shit load of blood!! I'm not anemic but lost a LOT and had to take iron pills in the hospital, almost needed a blood transfusion.
That is bs...
