i was just wondering topics on another website and this came up, a lady wanted to stop breast feeding and asked how to stop and a lot of good advice was given but people kept advising not to just stop. Im sure there are good reasons to this but it got me thinking if anyone ever has just completely stopped and what there expierence with that were. Im not a breastfeeding mom so I was curious.

I've heard that putting cold cabbage leaves in your bra can help with pain and engorgement. I didn't bother, when I stopped I just let it hurt. I considered it my penance, LOL. I was just mad that it didn't work out, I didn't care about my b**bs.

I did with my daughter, she wasn't getting what she needed. It hurt my b**bs like hell, but it didn't seem to bother her a bit. She was only 4 weeks old though and I had to exclusively pump the first two, so I don't know if only being on the b**b for 2 weeks had anything to do with it.

I stopped cold turkey. It was pretty much unbearable for 3days-then the pain slowly went away. It sucks, but if you stay out of hot water and leave them alone the milk supply goes away fairly easily.

my daughters mouth was too small to get a good latch, bf was not successful for us. I pumped for a while and I had to stop pumping cold turkey when my nipple began to detach  cold cabbage leave certainly did the trick for me. It was one REALLY painful day and that was it

wow there are so many who just stopped. On the other site some of the women told the main person it took months sometimes years for her to feel relief maybe I should tell her to come here... it was on Yahoo answers I think. I didnt breastfeed because she wouldnt latch on at the hospital after 12 hours so the nurse just gave her a bottle I was a little upset but I figured I tried, and as long as shes healthy I dont care, but my milk still came in but I only leak a little bit like when I was pregnant, but I tok a hot shower and leaaked like crazy!

I pumped exclusively and my nipples just couldnt handle it. I would start it on low but then I always ended up going to high, I dont know "exactly" how it happened but the dr. said it was just from the 2 months of pumping exclusively, it was painful thats for sure!
