Prurigo of pregnancy - relief? benchgirl2 1 child; Altamonte Springs, Florida 26 posts

I am currently 32 weeks pregnant... and at my dr. appt last week I was told I have Prurigo of pregnancy. I have tried hydrocortizone cream and benadryl (both recommended by my dr about 3 weeks ago), but the cream doesn't work, and the benadryl kinda works but literally makes me sleep all day. Cold baths work, but only for a short amount of time... soooooo my question is... if you have this pregnancy rash or know someone who did, etc, do you know of anything to make the itching stop????

What is prurigo of pregnancy? I have a rash on my inner thighs and on my feet and I was going to ask the doctor at my next appointment.

Oh no, that's not normal. I was experiencing palpitations and shortness of breath in the 2nd trimester and my dr told me today that sitting still and getting shortness of breath is NOT normal.

I started with a rash at about 20 weeks. At about 24 weeks my Doc told me he thought I had Prurigo of Pregnancy......I'm now 28 weeks and I see an OB next week. I have it all over my hips, back of my legs, back, breasts, tops of my feet, my legs.......I was told by my doc and another doc at the practice I go to that its not a normal case of this rash. I was given oral Steroids last week but finished them 2 days ago........its been the only thing to take some of the itching away but my doc doesn't want to give me anymore pills until I see the OB and he looks at the rash. Its definitely awful and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I've even started taking Aveeno Oatmeal baths and using Aveeno Oatmeal bodywash. Nothing really seems to help. Its nice to know that I'm not the only person who is going through this! I have until October 1st to wait!
