so let me explain why i'm doing it so late first. my ex (his so called dad) isn't circumcised SO he didn't want my son to be. i was 15 and didn't really know much or even look into it cause i belived what my boyfriend at the time said. well now that he's older, as am i, i've decided i think it would be better if i did. i keep it clean and i teach him to but to be honest, i don't know how to take care of it exactly. his dad was supposed to teach him to keep it clean, potty train him and everything but he's not around. my boyfriend now wants to but he is circumcised so it's kinda awkward i guess. well basically i've decided it's better for him and we're getting it done tomorrow. i don't know what to tell him or if i should tell him anything about it. i don't know how he's going to react to such a big change or if he'll even notice it at all...besides the sensitivety of course. any advice?

I honestly think you should just leave it alone at this point. A 3 year old is going to have so much pain from it :( It's not hard to take care of an uncirc'd p***s, just push the skin back and clean. Google it. Seriously.

I know a few boys who've got circumcized late. I'm sure he'll be okay! At least he can tell you if he's sore so you can try to make him feel better.

ouch.......he is gonna be in so much pain.

seriously its not a big deal for them to not be circumsized. its easy to keep clean. my son didnt have his done and we have had no problems with it.

That's a hard one. I think you should do it- he'll thank you for it later down the road...but how to explain and prepare him for it, I'm lost.

I wouldn't do it personally. You already waited so long. They don't need all that much extra care.

i think it has to beleft alone... he is old enough to notice that big change... I did it to my son when he was 2 weeks old a day beforer going home.. but that's just my opinion thoo...

that's interesting. I didn't know that the drs. would circumcise a three-year-old. So, his pediatrician is doing it?

My SO says you should definitely try to explain it to him. He had a friend who was circumsized when he five, and his parents didn't tell him anything, he thought it was a regular doctor's appt and was terrified. The friend is glad they did it, but he wishes they had warned him.

Wow. I wouldn't do it. Sorry, hon. I do believe in circumcision, and my son had it done, but to a 3 year old?????

Will he be fully sedated?? I sure hope so.

Uncircumcised boys don't need anything special as far as hygiene goes, either. Once they get around 4-ish, they are supposed to retract the skin while in the shower and just gently rinse. That's all, though.
