I've always been told that it's not good.
But, I've never been told why.

I'm not a belly sleeper though, I sleep on my side. :P

I read about this on discovery health. If you are causing any discomfort to your baby your body will let you know and it will be harder for you to breath. I dont remember why though so you may wanna look it up yourself

It doesn't smash the baby... Well it might a little.. LOL, you're probably making the baby uncomfortable. You won't hurt the baby though. I asked my Dr, and he told me that by the time it would hurt the baby, I wouldn't be able to sleep like that anymore. I wouldn't really worry...

My baby definitely gets uncomfortable when I lay on my stomach, she kicks at the mattress to try to move it or something, it's cute, but sad, so I don't do it.

just prop up some pillows around your belly to sleep on your belly, but not really lay on your belly. You would feel pain yourself before you hurt the baby.

i have to sleep on my stomach or i won't sleep, but i don't stay that way. and when i'm on my stomach i'm putting my weight on one of my sides. if it gets uncomfortable then i move. my mom slept on her stomach her entire pregnency with me and i was fine.
