Getting a cold/flu in the second trimester Gone 17 kids; Miami, FL, United States 15414 posts

Well, yesterday I woke up with a sore throat, but it wasn't that bad. By last night, I felt pretty sick. I don't think it's a severe virus or flu, because I have been sicker. However, it's not mild symptoms either where they aren't effecting me. I'm so achy and tired, and can't stop sneezing and am so stuffed up my head is aching. Anyway, that stuff will go away. My main question is about getting sick in the second trimester of pregnancy. I remember learning in Abnormal Psychology that certain flus/diseases, especially if caught during the second trimester, have been linked to problems (development delays, schizophrenia). I know "big" stuff like Rubella causes severe problems, even birth defects, can just a cold /flu be pretty serious too? I am planning on calling my doctor but sometimes I seem to get better advice from moms than doctors. Anyone that already has a child that got sick during their pregnancy where everything turned out perfectly okay (would definitely ease my worries a little). Thanks :) !

Hun I had 4 sinus in fections while preggo with my son. 3 of which were in the 2nd trimester and one of which was so bad I had 102 fever and half of my face swoll up.

STOP READING THE AB PSYCH BOOK!! Especaiily with regards to you pregnancy.

Unless you've got the measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, or have been exposed to the chicken pox...YOU'RE FINE!!!8)
