army/ tricare genetic testing. KayMay♥ 2 kids; Schofield Barracks, Hawaii 9008 posts

I just posted earlier about my brother having muscular dystrophy and possibly being a carrier, which would cause my daughter to be also. Also female carriers have a high risk of cardiomyopathy. On top of thinking about ttc in the next year or so. I was wondering if anyone new if tricare covers genetic testing to see if I am a carrier. So I can either stop worrying, or make a decision of what to do next. Thanks

this may help...but I would call them... sometimes they have special circumstances that will allow you to do things that aren't the norm

TRICARE may cover genetic testing when medically necessary, proven and appropriate, and when the results of the test will influence the medical management of the beneficiary.

I would really take the time to call them or your doctor... they will know more... but I would for sure look into it if you are worried about it!!
