toning back and arms while pregnant? I love my badass kid 1 child; Florida 820 posts

i know you shouldnt try and lose weight during pregnancy, so im not.
but im one of those women whose weight gain [as minimal as it may be] will go straight to her arms and back, leaving her with chicken legs because all muscle was lost in them during 2 months of doc-required bed rest.

i HATE my bra straps cutting into my back fat. and i HATE having flabby arms. itd be different if i had my thick muscular legs back and my arms werent quickly catching up with the circumference of my thighs. its unbalanced looking.

if i try and tone my back and arms, will it just make them bigger because im not losing fat? or will they look gradually better because of the muscle tone?

=[

i want my sexy back, back.

you need to not try to tone anything during your pregnancy
especially if you were on bed rest

bad idea
just wait it out
there are more important things to be concerned with right now than your looks

Maybe your bra is too small.. You're pregnant. You ARE going to gain weight. & It will be hard to lose.
Relax.

I agree with the other ladies, just wait, you ARE pregnant. If you try and 'tone' thenyou couldjust be put on bed rest again.

i wasnt asking for condescending remarks. im aware that weight gain and pregnancy come hand in hand. im not dense. i was asking if anyone had information on toning muscles while pregnant. if you didnt read, i DID say im not trying to lose weight. and my ob has O-K'd me for exercise since 3 months ago.

this is really late and i dont know if you got the information you needed...
but yeah. lift weights. i did, you just have to MAINTAIN and not improve upon. also, pregnancy makes you loose muscle tone for sure. most of its water, though. thats where the puffy comes from. so go to the gym, lift some weights, and dont let anyone tell you to sit on your ass and eat cheetos all day because your pregnant. really, its BETTER if you try and tone your arms and back (safely, and using machines instead of free weights if you can) because soon enough youll be carting around a 7-10 pounder all day anyways.
and gaining weight during pregnancy sucks. period.
its SO much better for you to work out, and if your dr. says its ok (you were on bedrest?) no need to be too cautious, do what feels GOOD, and dont be a retard and try to lift more than you were able to prepregnancy.
:D

Celebrities work out with trainers during pregnancy and do minimal weight training. There is nothing wrong with it. Since you are on bedrest, I wouldn't recommend doing too much. All I would do is lift light weights with your arms. Do the thing with the soup cans, and since they are very light that will not be too much stress on your body.
