How much bleeding is normal? Mrs.Z (Jaci) 4 kids; 1 angel baby; Wisconsin 5738 posts

I just miscarried today. I had spotting for awhile and had very low levels at my draw yesterday evening. I had some cramping last night in bed and then didn't have any until around 2:00 this after noon. I passed the baby around 4:00 I think. That is a pain I would not wish on anyone. The pain of the contractions trying to get this baby out were way worse than the worst part of either of my labors, and I went completely natural with both of them.

I should have been 12w 4d today but I'm assuming the baby was smaller than that since I've been having problems.

My question is how much have any of you bled after a pregnancy loss at this stage? I feel like there's a lot of blood but I don't think quite a pad an hour. I feel like its slowing down now (8:15 here). (I've been stimulating my nipples to encourage my uterus to lock down. With the births of both my boys they gave me a shot of pit in the arm to help me contract because I was losing lots of blood so I thought the stimulating would be a good idea.)

I'll definately keep an eye on it and go in if it gets too bad. I'll be seeing my doc tomorrow anyways I believe. I guess I'm just looking for other ladies experiences since I haven't been through this before.

I am so sorry for your loss, if you ever need to talk you are more than welcome to come talk to me. I had my miscarriage at 12 weeks but the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks. I bleed very heavily for about a week, and then I spotted off & on for about another week. I had very big gold ball size blood clots as well. I hope everything goes well & again I am so sorry.

I wanted to add that I was going through about a pad an hour, I went in to get re-checked and they said it was normal amount. After the first week is when it slowed down to like a period.

Thank you for the replies ladies. My bleeding has slowed way down to a regular or almost a light period. I think I'm very relieved to just have it done and not have to carry a baby around for another week or what ever. I also believe that everything was complete and I won't need a D&C. I'm very thankful for that. Thanks for listening.

I miscarried at 4 1/2 weeks but i bled a lot of clots the first day and for about 4 more day i bled pretty heavy with still a few clots. If you are concerned about the amount you are bleeding you should go to the doctors only you know your body and whats normal or not normal. I wish you the best and Good luck!
