How can I make my miscarriage progress quicker naturally? J. Quinton Due June 4; 82 kids; Naperville, Illinois 138 posts

Long story short--I've experience a missed miscarriage (the baby stopped growing at 5 and a half weeks, and I only found out last week at my 9 week ultrasound). I've had two other miscarriages before for blighted ovums--I knew I was miscarrying because I bled out pretty quickly. This is different--my body doesn't seem to want to let go of the genetic material, I feel perfectly fine and have had no bleeding whatosever. I've scheduled a D&C for next week but would honestly prefer to miscarry naturally, as I am afraid of surgeries and at least I know what to expect with a natural miscarriage having experienced it before. Does anyone know any way I can help my body progress this miscarriage naturally?

It's OK, my husband and I are trying to be positive, we intend to try again as soon as we are allowed to, with medical help, because we don't want to experience this kind of loss anymore. :( I just really do not want a D&C if I can help it, I'm scared of them damaging the uterine wall or something like that.

I think sometimes, you have to have a D&C because your body won't do it naturally. .Sorry about your loss.

I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I've been there. My first two m/c happened pretty quickly on their own, but my last really took its time. With the last time I looked all over the internet trying to find a way to speed it up. I did not want a D&C either. Other than some totally messed up sites telling you how to give yourself an abortion I found nothing.

Are you cramping at all?

The only thing I think may have helped me is being active. I went to work, worked out, worked in the yard. Don't over do it, and who knows if it really helps, but at least keeping busy will help keep your mind off things.

Have you had any testing done yet for the recurrent m/c? I wish I had gone after my second, but I waited until after my third and went to an RE. I swear it was the best thing I've ever done!

If nothing happens by the time you have your appointment you can always ask for another week to let your body do its thing. They may want to go ahead, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck to you, and if you have any questions let me know.

@Ryliees Momma: Yeah I agree, that's the kind of stuff I'm afraid of. But equally, I'm supposed to be in Week 10 now, and if the baby stopped growing at 5 and a half weeks, that's almost 5 weeks it's been there without me bleeding and expelling it! Is that normal?

@Hopeful Mom: I'm hesitant to move my appointment--my husband works away in London for four weeks, and comes back home to the US for only 2, and I'd prefer to do it when he is around because he's basically my rock. We haven't been tested yet, but we have an appointment with a fertility clinic in a bit and a weeks time. I know I can have children (I have a 7 year old daughter from a previous relationship), so I don't know why I have been having so many problems since then. I'll try exercising more, thanks for the suggestion.
