Albuterol inhaler while pregnant? Jacee&Jaxon's Mommy!! 2 kids; Clinton, Tennessee 1230 posts

Is it ok to use an albuterol [sp?] inhaler while pregnant? I have a prescription for one, and it's for emergencies. I used to have lots of trouble breathing, but I haven't had to use it in over a year. I went on a hayride last night and the hay must've gotten to me, I've been having trouble breathing/catching my breathall day. I'm going to call my doctor in the morning to find out what he says, but I just wanted to know if anyone else has used theirs while pregnant.

Yes, it's fine. I used one the whooolle time, multiple timesa day! As soon as I got preggo my asthma went haywire... I even had to go to the emergency room one night due to an asthma attack. Think about it- your baby gets his nutriets from YOU, so if you get no air..?

I have one for emergencies too. My obgyn said to use it if I had trouble breathing...it would hurt the baby more if I passed out rather than the effects of the medicine. Check with your dr, but for emergencies it should be fine.

Yes, it is the only "emergency" inhaler that is considered safe for pregnancy. I have one in my car, one in my purse and two in the house, one upstairs, one down.

ok. this makes me feel better. This morning when I woke up it was really hard to breath and it scared me and I started to panic b/c I thought I'd have to go to the hospital or pass out one. I think I'm going to go use it now since all you other mama's were told you could during pregnancy. I can't wait to breathe again. haha
