Ok 2 thing...

With a temporal thermometer do you add or subtract a degree?

Also, I think my son was bit by a spider..what should I be looking for?

Thank you!

i think u add a degree hon.

also, make sure it's not hot and just watch it for infection.

If you are concerned it was a poisonous spider, watch him for alertness, vomiting, high fever, etc.

ona website i found it says: (skip to basically last sentence, i made it bold)
What You Need To Know

  • instead of adding or subtracting a degree when you report your child's temperature to your pediatrician, simply report the temperature and how you took it. Rectal temperatures are usually about 1 degree higher than oral temperatures and 1 1/2 degrees higher than axillary temperatures, but since you don't have to add a degree with ear or temporal thermometers, talking about adding or subtracting a degree can be confusing

Thanks ladies! I don't think it was poisonous...it was tiny and it definitely wasn't a black widow so the only other poisonous spider it could be is a brown recluse. He's down for a nap now, but I think it was just a little nonpoisonous one. Regardless it's dead now. No one hurts my baby and lives.
