My Son has had a fever since last Saturday. Ranging from 101-103.7. We alternate tylenol and motrin every 4-6 hours and he's drinking fluids consistently. He went to his Pediatrician on Monday and he has an ear infection which he was prescribed Amoxicillin for it.
I'm starting to really get worried that this fever isn't breaking. I called the Children's ER here yesterday and spoke to a nurse where she told me to up the dosage of tylenol and motrin. His fever was GONE this morning, but he laid down for an afternoon nap and it was back.
Could the Amoxicillin not be strong enough? This just seems like a really long time to have a fever, unless he has something else along with the ear infection (he's already had swine flu and the fever wasn't nearly as long)..
Any advice would be great!
but if you're just going to freak out about it, don't bother (no offense)
Bahahahahahaha! LMAO @ If your going to freak out dont respond.
How many more days does he have on the Amox?
I dont know for sure if this applies for kids (tho i am pretty sure it might), but sometimes if your antibiotic isnt working they need to give you a steroid shot to help it along. id probably take him to the er just in case or in the very least back to the dr in the morning.
hope he gets better soon!
I would say that the amox. isn't cutting it. I would call back and talk to your pedi.
I would get his ears rechecked or his throat or anything, maybe he has strep? Keep up with the fluids so he doesnt get dehydrated of course, but i would make an appointment with his pedi in the AM.
I would take him back and see if there is something else going on. Maybe he does have something more than an ear infection.
I know I had an ear infection last week related to me having tonsilitis. I don't know if this helps any.
