Hello..would like some advice! My 5 week old baby grunts like crazy! I know some grunting is normal, but this seems excessive! It's all the time, when she's awake or asleep! Why do little babies do this, and should I worry if it happens all the time? Thanks in advance!

My LO was a grunter for about 3 months. No respitory distress. But it's certainly worth mentioning to your pedi.

Sorry i forgot to tell you why its normal. haa.
They do it when having a bowel movement cuz their abdominal muscles are weak so they grunt to help push. Some babies grunt with pleasure. Also, they grunt to open the air sacs in the lungs periodically.

If its causing your LO discomfort or you see a change in there health then i would go to the pedi but if not dont worry.
