Semi-permanent birth control?? Gone 12345.... 2 kids; Houston, Texas 16000 posts

After I have this baby, my husband and I need some kind of semi permanent birth control. I am 21, he is 23 but we will have 2 kids, one boy and one girl. I start back to nursing school when new baby is 5-6 months old, and we def don't want any kids for a couple years, maybe never.

I would like for him to get a vasectomy, but is that reversible? Since we are so young, our minds may change on wanting more children. I could get the Mirena but I don't like birth control and just the thought of it makes me uneasy lol. I don't think I want to take any hormonal birth control, def not the pill b/c I will forget, and i just don't like the idea of taking hormones...

What are our other option? I would like to just do natural family planning, which has always worked well for us til we decided to not be so careful, but I want some extra protection lol... any ideas??

Its reverseable but most insurances don't pay for it... And it can be between 6,000 to 15,000 to get it reversed.... We were going to do this but for one it's expensive and two they told my hubby he has to be over 26 to have it done... So I'd get an IUD or implanon

I got IUd and I love it....cramped for a day, that was it.....
I hear a lot of negative stuff about them though.....do some internets research about them, but it is totally your best bet

I'm getting either Mirena or something close to it, after this baby. Rather than get my tubes tied.

I plaqn on doing natural family planning. It worked for me and my hsuband too. Although I do plan on taking a low dose of birth control just in case.

In you case I would do the natural family planning and use condoms with a spermicide.
