First things first- I am posting this in "teen pregnancy" because usually Teen moms are prego with their first and have many questions and are anxious to know the results without having to wait for their menstral cycles.

A lot of sites and people tell us the five most common symptoms- morning sickness, increased appitite, mood swings, breast changes and frequent urination.

But out of all 5 of these symptoms, 4 of them directly relate to PMS as well and it is hard to tell the difference. I am hopeing this chart helps- but take in mind that those 5 symptoms a top are the most common because they happen in 90% of people, and the ones listed below only happen to 75% of us; we must listen to our bodies very closely to notice these and chances are if you're not looking, you wont.

PMS AND PREGNANCY
-bloating
-headaches
-breast tenderness
-cramping
-increased appitite
-mood swings

PMS ONLY
-severe cramping
-dry underware
-extreme thirst 0-48 hours before expected menstration
-tired but usually only withing 5-7 days before EMC

PREGNANCY ONLY
-severe moood swings( they last for 2 weeks usually starting 1 week after the day you stop bleeding. They get worse and worse not come and go. The day before your EMC you should be crying than throwing a picture at the daddy than laughing at how stupid it was-all within 15 min.)
-cramping(but so mild you barely notice it)
-back ache(lower back-but softer than mestration cramps)
-not increased appitite-but extreme HUNGER, especially in the morning and evening. Evening if you work afternoon shifts and get home late because your glucose levels are low- you wont noitce if youre at home all day relazing. ESPECIALLY in the am, if you are waking up in the night starving or in the AM the first thing you do is run to the fridge youre hungry.
-frequent urination( keep in mind you wont notice a change if your uterous is tiled. Some say it's our hormones making us have to run to the bathroom more often, but liquor does the same thing. It's hard to tell when youre young-although you shouldnt be drinking!. It's more so the growing uterous pushing on your bladder. It eases off in second tri because the baby moves upward but come back in the last month or so of pregnacy when the baby moves into the birth canal, and this time will be the worst.
-headaches lasting all day everyday(increased estrogen)
-increased saliva(spitting every time you get near a sink or shower?)
-gas
-vivid dreams
-increase in vaginal secreations
-taste in your mouth( some say it's "metallic" some things taste like metal? your tounge? do you sometimes chew something you always have liked and find yourself spitting it out before it gets near your throat? especially coffee, especially if youre an occasional drinker, youre mouth is going to HATE it-75% of the time)
-constipation(hormones slow down digestive system making it harder to go, and if you try for a good half hour and dont see anything in the toilet or it's the size of a tiny christmas orange)
-You will also notice a feeling of "fullness" after everything you eat(sides the AM when your bodys trying to raise gluscose levels). In PMS you can eat a lot because your appitite, but in pregnancy you'll notice you'll be fuller than usual and it'll make you FEEL bloated or prego LOL
-faster nail growth(hormones)
-heart rate will increase as your body is trying to supply nutrients to the embryo when it implants.(heart flutters may also occur as your body is getting used to the increase in blood pressure- to supply the uterous with more blood)
-smell(is a big one) if youre smelling things someone right beside you cant
-acid reflex and heart burn are some as well as the hormone relaxin increases your esophogas muscels relax causeing acid to raise( also why after you eat and burp some of it might be coming up...EWW)

NOW remember breast changes? We're young, were constantly looking at them in the mirror it's something we will notice.
With pregnancy and PMS- the difference is the fact that you're breasts in pregnancy(sometimes do even get sore if you previously had a miscarriage and thought it was your period) are more dramatic. If it's your first and not subsequent they should efing hurt LOL. that ball thingy in the back of your breats should have softened and moved forward closer to your nipple. Your nipples might look "swollen" and way different. They may look bigger and rounder. The area around your nipples(areolas) will be darker and the most common of all- you will notice there "goosebumbs" around your nipples-almost like their constantly cold. Lift up your arm pits, if your breats seem "fuller" in that part(the side) then normal. OR if they seem heavy. If your bra is leaving marks or bruses or speed bumps are starting to hurt.

REMEMBER!
1) this is for 75% of people.
2) if you think you are- stay away from drugs, alcohol, cigs, feta cheese, hot dogs(unwinds DNA thats not supose to be unwond causeing miscarriages and birth defects) and lunch meat. Avoid "fillers" (food that only makes you feel not hungry but has no nutrients in it) and dont jump up and down.( affects placenta development and attatchment) drink a lot of water as water is what carries the nutrients to the embyo. REST. alright.

GOOD LUCK! =)

Mood swings can be related to PMS as well. PMDD is getting more and more common. You might want to relocate that to PMS and Pregnancy. With PMS I am an emotional wreck. I can cry at the drop of a hat or scream and be pissed for no reason (well not a justifyable one anyway)

I also noticed that there is a difference between breast tenderness with PMS and pregnancy (at least there was in my case)...when I had PMS my breasts were just a little sore....when I was pregnant, they were painful and my nipples were EXTREMELY sensitive and painful.
