someone told me putting baby powder on your baby after you change their diaper is bad.... my pedi told me to do it to avoid diaper rash. is this true?

They told me in the hospital not to do it because it can get in the baby's lungs when you shake it out. But I think that if you shakes some in your hand and rub it on its is fine.

Do you have a boy or a girl? I was told not to put it on a girl because it can cause a UTI

no baby powder!! bad for all baby lungs and esp bad for baby girls bc it can give them uti's.

if you want something to ward off diaper rash before it starts, use aquaphor. i swear by that stuff and so does my pedi

We didn't use baby powder on our son for the first couple weeks because of his plasti-bell.

After it healed we started using it after every diaper change and he rarely has diaper rashes now. Before he had them a lot, and he had one or two really bad ones.

All when we weren't using the baby powder.

they told me not to use it at the hospital. because of the lungs. i use it about once a day but i am careful about getting it anywhere besides his diaper.
