8 month old bloody nose Kol&Tate's Mommy 2 kids; Spring, Texas 254 posts

So my son tonight was playing before bed. When he gets tired he rubs his eyes. So he was doing this which is nothing out of the ordinary but tonight he was rubbing so hard he got a bloody nose. Is this something I should worry about? Should I take him to the Dr in the morning. I didnt think it was common for 8 month olds to get bloody noses.

Is it dry in your house? If it is, dry noses bleed very easily. Him rubbing his eyes could have irritated his dry nose which caused it to bleed. I'd put a humdifier in his room and see if that helps.

Has he had a cold lately?

I think you should take him to the doc just in case but i think the bloody nose is linked with the cold he had. I didn't think 8 month old's get bloody noses either.

I would bet it is the dry air. Unless it keeps happening 5+ times a day, don't worry about it. Call and have the nurse call you back if you are so concerned.

When mucous membranes get dry or over worked they can bleed more easily.
