The Basics:

I'm Caitlin, I'm 21 years old and married with an amazing 2 year old little boy, and, a beautiful newborn baby girl. My sons birthday is 5 days after my birthday and my daughters birthday is the day after mine. 3 birthdays in 5 days - October is a busy month for us!

I am a SAHM and currently in nursing school. I'm returning to school in the spring when my daughter is 16 weeks old. My ultimate goal is to work in the NICU.

I am an incredibly motivated person. Once I get an idea in my head, nothing can stop me.

I am my own worst enemy.

One day I hope to live up to my own expectations.

2/6/2013: Got our BFP! Two tests, clear as day. 4 weeks 1 day pregnant.
2/7/2013: Took a third test because it doesn't seem real lol. Another BFP!
3/6/2013: First appointment and first ultrasound! Everything looked great, got all my blood work done and pap smear, all that good stuff. Didn't get a call from the doctor in the days following so that means all my tests came back good! Baby's heartbeat was measuring in the 150's (I feel horrible that I don't know the exact number!). Also found out on this day that I've been accepted to the nursing program! Such a good day!
3/27/2013: Second appointment! 11 weeks 1 day pregnant. Everything looks good, got to hear the heartbeat!
4/3/2013: NT scan and blood work to test for Down Syndrome. Results came back great! Chances are 1 in >10,000!
4/24/2013: Third appointment at 15 weeks 1 day! Blood pressure is good (low, actually), I've gained 2 pounds total this pregnancy, and we heard the heart beat RIGHT away! So loud and strong!
5/14/2013: Anatomy scan at 18 weeks! IT'S A GIRL!!!!! And everything measured perfect <3 not a single thing out of the ordinary.
5/19/2013: Gender reveal party!!!
5/22/2013: Fourth appointment at 19 weeks 1 day!
6/19/2013: Fifth appointment at 23 weeks 1 day!
7/17/2013: Sixth appointment at 27 weeks 1 day! 1 hour glucose test- passed!
8/14/2013: Seventh appointment at 31 weeks 1 day! Last monthly appointment!
8/21/2013: Doctor ordered growth scan at 32 weeks 1 day. Belly was measuring small (and everyone tells me I look so tiny!) and baby girl is measuring "on the small side of normal" at 3 lb 8 oz (23rd percentile - my son was in 25th percentile at birth). Doctor is not concerned so neither are we! Just means small baby :) We also discovered she is head down, locked and loaded and ready to go! And yes, it's still a girl :) Today was also our FIRST wedding anniversary!
8/28/2013: Eighth appointment at 33 weeks 1 day!
9/11/2013: Ninth appointment at 35 weeks 1 day! Group B strep test - negative! Lost a piece of mucus plug!
9/15/2013: Officially one month till due date! Contractions all morning after doing the uncomfortable!
9/25/2013: Tenth appointment at 37 weeks 1 day! Last bi-weekly appointment. Onto weekly! First cervix check also...doc says I'm 2-3 cm dilated and 70% effaced! Woohooo! Baby's head is wedged down nice and low. Any day now!
10/2/2013: Eleventh appointment at 38 weeks 1 day! Ready for this baby to be OUT!
10/9/2013: Never made it to my 39 week appointment! Went into labor on my 21st birthday (10/8) and she was born at 1:08 am on 10/9! Barely made it to the hospital!

baby development

My plans for the future!

I found out I was pregnant with #2 shortly after applying to the accelerated nursing program beginning May 2013 and ending August 2014. Needless to say, it was not planned. On March 6, 2013, I got the call saying I was accepted. Great news, except I'm due mid fall semester. I ultimately decided to skip the fall semester and go back in the spring as a traditional student, graduating in May 2015 instead. Sucks it's a whole 9 months later, but I was getting so stressed out just thinking about how stressed I was going to be if I continued in the fall. Good news is after my first semester of nursing school I am automatically qualified to become a CNA, I just have to apply for certification and provide proof of my education. So after this August I will at least have that! As far as having more kids goes, I would like at least one more. When that'll be, I'm not sure. I do NOT want another surprise though! I want to have the TTC experience, and I want to be financially stable in our own house. DH told me he wants to be done having kids before he's 30 (he's 23 now) but I don't think he has a preference on how many...he just doesn't want to be changing diapers his whole life. I don't know how many I ultimately want, I'm not going to make that decision just yet. And all this is depending on whether DH and I even stay together...things have been very rough lately. If we stay together, it's going to be a long road of a lot of hard work.

Our story:

I graduated high school in 2010, and I met DH on my 18th birthday at my house during a wild party I threw. By wild, I mean wild. Rave in the basement, beer pong upstairs, bonfire outside, and my dad, uncle, and grandma were there too lol. There were a good 80+ people there, but I don't remember much from that night. Cops showed up, everyone scattered. Someone lost a cell phone in my yard, another person lost his military ID in my yard. When I woke up in the morning, one of our lawn chairs was on the roof of my shed. Not exactly the environment you'd expect to meet your future husband in lol. We talked and hung out almost every day afterwards. Our first date was on 10/10/10, two days after we met. We went ice skating then took a random trip to Philly. Our first kiss was that night, on a dock by the water underneath the stars. Exactly one week after we met, we made it official. I seriously thought he was my prince charming. 3 months after dating, surprise! I'm pregnant! It wasn't planned, but we weren't being very careful so we both had a hunch that I was pregnant. Aiden was born October 13, 2011, 5 days after my 19th birthday. On my 18th birthday I met my one and only, and around my 19th birthday I gave birth to his child. Weird how things work out lol. You can find Aiden's birth story here: I was in labor for 9.5-10 hours, got to the hospital when I was 8 cm, and gave birth to him naturally and unmedicated an hour after arriving to the hospital. It was perfect. Two months after giving birth, DH proposed to me. We got married August 21, 2012 in the courthouse. We decided on that because he was planning on joining the Navy, but it never happened. They never called after he put his application in, and now he doesn't want to join.

I went to school nonstop throughout my pregnancy, taking summer/winter classes as well, and I gave birth in the middle of the fall semester (online classes made this possible for me!). I get A's in all my classes, and if I don't, I beat myself up over it. This determination has been very beneficial to me though! My academic advisor said I am one of the highest qualified applicants for the nursing program! Hard work pays off!

My son changed my life. I wouldn't trade mommy life for anything in the world. I've grown up and matured so much since I learned of his existence. I am such a mom now, definitely not like other 20 year olds I know. I love my life. Everything I do, every choice I make, it is all for my son and my little family.

My parenting style...

-circumcising (go ahead and chew my ear off, i don't give a shit what you think)

-CIO when necessary (my son is not a snuggler. If he is fed, not too hot/cold, has a clean diaper, not sick, etc. and just wants to get up and play when it is bed time, I will let him CIO.)

-natural birth

-disposable and cloth diapers

I am so tired of mothers these days constantly judging others' parenting styles and shoving their beliefs down others' throats. I am guilty of it, but I won't start an argument over it. I'll keep my mouth shut and accept it. Accept that we all have different beliefs and move the f**k on. We all make mistakes, but we all do what is best for our child. Unless you are a trained professional, you have no room to offer an opinion on someones parenting style.

Age: 19
First child: Yes

Age: 21
First child? Yes

What day did you find out? Took first test on 2/12/11, concluded I was pregnant after test #6 on 2/17/11
How did you feel when you found out? After the first test I wasn't convinced. By the time we decided that pink line was a definite positive, I had some time to wrap my mind around it.
Who was with you? Only my boyfriend.
Who was the first person you told? We only told good friends at first.
How did the daddy react? We both had our suspicions. He never thought about leaving me. He's been supportive since day 1

How did your parents react?
They were about the same age as me when they had their first child, my brother. They were supportive. I told them alone, and when my boyfriend came over later that evening, my dad shook his hand and said congratulations :) my mom started giving advice. The initial shock didn't last very long.
How did his parents react? Supportive. They asked questions about what our plans were and how we were going to do it.
Are they helping with baby names? We didn't ask anyone for help
Have they bought anything for the baby yet? No. Not that I know of.
How often do they call to check on you? They ask how I'm feeling every time I see them. Multiple times every week.

When was your first appointment?
March 9, 2011. I had court right before, but I didn't want to put it off any longer than I had to. I was over an hour and a half late. Woops!
When is your due date? October 22, 2011
How far along are you? He was born October 13 <3
Have you had an ultrasound? I've had 3 2D ultrasounds and 1 3D ultrasound
Have you heard the heartbeat? Plenty of times
What was the heartbeat? I haven't been told the bpm since my first ultrasound at 7 weeks 6 days, and it was 153 bpm.

If so, what are you having? Boy

Do you know what you are taking with you?
I didn't use most of the stuff I took!

Are you going to videotape it?We had to rush through it all..he came so fast! And I was in way too much pain to even think about getting the camera out.
Natural or medicated? Alllll natural!
Do you think you will need a c-section? Nope.
Will you cry when you hold your baby for the first time? I thought I was going to, but I didn't. I think since I did it all naturally, I was just so overwhelmed when he came out and so happy that the pain was finally over lol
Are you scared about the labor? I never got scared. When the contractions started I wasn't sure if it was happening or not. I didn't know if they were real contractions or not. I had never even felt a braxton hicks contraction. And by the time the pain got so bad I knew we had to go to the hospital, I was too focused on the pain to be nervous or scared.

Do you have a name picked out?
Girl names: If we were having a girl, her name would be Hailey
Boy names: Aiden John (his daddy and daddy's daddy have the same middle name.)

Have you felt the baby move? Every day
What ethnicity will your baby be? Caucasian
