Miss Isla Grace Dixon entered our family on 05/12/2012 at 5:12pm at only 28+6 weeks gestation--after a VERY long 8 week hospital stay for me!
She weighed 2lbs, 15oz and was 15 1/4 inches long! She spent a short 4 weeks in the NICU and has been home with us since 06/15/2012! We are so proud of her AND our family for making it through this tough time! :)

On 10/08/2010 I went into preterm labor. Up until this point I had enjoyed a near perfect pregnancy. I was counting my baby's kicks, enjoying belly-love rubs from my amazing DH, and anticipating the arrival of our little boy. After two previous miscarriages, I was elated that it was finally MY time. Unfortunately, we really never can know when that is. My contractions increased so I went to the ER for a second time two days later...by this point I was in full labor and my amniotic sac was already protruding. I was turned on my head for about 10 hours in hopes that gravity would take effect. Unfortunately, the contractions became so severe that my water broke and my little boy was born at 9:04 AM 10/11/2010. I was only 21 weeks at the time. The night before I gave birth I was given a blessing by the bishop of my church. Through tears he assured me that I would give birth to a perfect child...with all of his pieces...a beautiful being...that he would be born alive and that I would have the chance to be his mommy. All of this came true. Michael Joeseph Dixon weighed only 14 oz and was barely 10 inches long...but he was perfect. He didn't even seem small to me. When I held him I beamed with pride. He sucked on my pinky and held my fingers before passing away 2 hours later. I was able to nurture him and be his mommy...even for such a short time. I will always cherish that. To all you mama's out there TTC...or dealing with the harsh pains of a loss...my prayers are with you...do not give up hope...hold on to the moments that you have your little ones...even if the moments are short.

I was blessed a few years ago to be given a perfect little girl named Star. She was taken away from my husband's uncle by CPS due to severe neglect. We have permanent custody of her and enjoy being her parents very much. She truly is a light on my dark days.
Since I have extensive knowledge dealing with loss (miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, and preterm labor) I am an open book to all that have questions and need answers. Also, If you find yourselves in a position in which you may need to take in a family member as I have, please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.
