I am 17 years old, and I have a son who was born on August 11, 2010. My boyfriend and I have been together for over 3 years now and are very happy. He is supportive and helpful, and I could not ask for a better father for my son. I am still in high school, I will graduate in 2012. I then plan on going on to college and majoring in pre-medicine, and then going on to medical school to be a doctor.

My labor and birth story:
I went to the doctor on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 for a check up and ultrasound. It was the day before my due date. After reviewing my ultrasound, my OB concluded that my son did not have as much amniotic fluid around him as he needed, and had not grown more than a couple ounces in the past 4 weeks, and decided we needed to get him out soon. He told me to go home, eat a good supper, pack my bags, and meet him up at the hospital at 8 o'clock that evening. The plan was to monitor his heart rate all night, and then induce in the morning, but as soon as they got they heart rate monitor on me, I started having contractions. They gave me a sleeping pill, and I fell right asleep. I woke the next morning at 5 to the nurse telling me I had been in labor all night, but I wasn't very far in, so I could take a shower if I wanted. At 5:30 am, they started me on Pitocin. At 8 or 8:30, my OB broke my water, and then got my epidural around 10. I spent the next couple hours sitting in bed holding a barf pan. At 12, the nurse checked me and told me I was 10 cm, and it was time to push. After an hour and a half of pushing, the most amazing thing to ever happen to me arrived in this world at 1:29 pm on August 11, 2010, weighing 6 lbs, 3 oz, and 19.5 inches long, and changed my whole life.
