My name is Candace Leigh Marcum, daughter of Barbara Marcum(59) and James Marcum(71). My mother has been a business owner her entire life and my father is a retired Army major of 22 years. I love them both dearly. I began working at the age of 10, when my mother opened her most recent business. It is a restaurant located in Heflin, Alabama. She has been in business for 13 years. She works herself to death. I would love nothing more than for a country lady that knows how to make Banana Pudding, Chicken and Dressing, Chicken and Dumplings, ect. FROM SCRATCH to come along and take my mothers place. She works at least 12-14 hours a day, even after hours. All her food is made purely from scratch. When i say from scratch, HONEY I MEAN FROM SCRATCH. She puts her blood, sweat, and tears into her cooking. But thats why her business is as good as it is for a small town like Heflin. I'm a full-time student at Gadsden State Community College. I'm majoring in child education. There's a God given reason for this too, I LOVE CHILDREN...and they love me back. I know how to communicate with a child in a way that makes the child feel important but at the same time learn a lesson..I'm a firm believer in work first and play later! Life is short and fun needs to be had, however, fun should be second to living your life the right way..or best you can.
