The news that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child is super exciting. Chances are, ever since their fancy and wonderful wedding on May 19th, 2018, we were wondering when we would be hearing about a little royal bundle of joy. Now we can finally rejoice that it's happening. We can't wait until we see this beautiful baby — it almost seems unfair that we even have to wait nine months!
Of course, we want to know everything that we possibly can about her pregnancy, so it's time to take stock of what we've found up until this point. Here are 10 things we know so far about Meghan Markle's pregnancy.
10. All In The Hair
We love to look at photos of celebrities and try to see what we can figure out about their personal lives. This is what people have naturally been doing with the news that Meghan Markle is pregnant with her first child.
According to Cosmopolitan, the fact that Meghan's hair has looked different recently was "a pregnancy clue." She had straight hair instead of hair in a bun or curly. The same thing happened with Kate Middleton; a month before everyone learned she was expecting Charlotte, she had different hair texture, too. Interesting, right? We can't wait to see what Meghan's hair looks like throughout her entire pregnancy.
9. Dute Date
When is Meghan Markle due? As Town and Country magazine says, Meghan's due date is in the spring of 2019.
The Kensington Palace officially said, "Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019. Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."
It's definitely very happy news, and we're all thrilled for the sweet couple.
8. A Happy Mom (And Grandma)
When a woman learns that she's going to be a grandma and her daughter is expecting her first child, it's an incredibly exciting day. It's also great news for the other members of the family. We can only imagine how excited Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's families are. How does Meghan Markle's mom, Doria Ragland, feel about the baby news?
According to Good Housekeeping, royal commentator Emily Nash said that a palace spokesperson declared that Doria "is very happy about this lovely news and is looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild."
We're already looking forward to the family photos.
7. Perfect Timing
They say that timing is everything, and that's even truer when a celebrity or member of the royal family is thinking about a good time to announce something publicly.
In mid-October 2018, Patch said that Meghan Markle had been pregnant for around three months. There is a reason why it was announced when it was (besides perhaps the fact that couples like to wait a little while). According to the publication, "It is said that while the expecting couple did reveal the news to the entire family during the nuptials, Markle did not want to upstage Princess Eugenie's big day."
6. This Kind Of Pregnancy
While our mothers' generation may have started families at a very young age, it's no secret that these days some women wait a little bit longer.
Meghan Markle has been described as having a "geriatric pregnancy" because she is 37 years old and, as Insider.com says, "Women over 35 are less likely to get pregnant and more likely to have certain complications, including miscarriage and having babies with birth defects." The publication continues, "But women over 35 can also have healthy pregnancies with no issues."
When a woman gets pregnant over the age of 35, she might have a higher chance of "complications" like miscarriage or high blood pressure, or difficulty conceiving.
5. Just Like Jet Lag
Have you heard pregnancy being described as jet lag? It's that brain-fog and feeling of motion sickness that can make the two comparable. And according to Meghan, that's how her pregnancy has been feeling.
According to Bustle, Charlotte Waverley, a 35-year-old old woman living in Sydney, Australia, told Sky News that she had a conversation with Meghan Markle: "Meghan told me that pregnancy was like having jet lag. She said she was up at 4:30 a.m. this morning doing yoga in her room as she couldn't sleep."
4. Vegan No More?
It's always interesting to hear about how celebrities eat and what they do when it comes to working out. And as some fans know, Meghan Markle has said that she's mostly vegan, but how she is she eating now? It seems like that she might be switching some things up now that she's pregnant with her first child.
Everyday Health said that she was vegan during the week "and loosening up on the weekend." The publication mentioned an October 2018 Radar Online article that said she was eating a burger because of "the advice of royal doctors."
3. Good News
When it comes to what we know about Meghan Markle's pregnancy so far, we might be wondering how she's doing. We all hope that everyone experiences a healthy and happy pregnancy since it's such a special time in their life. No one wants to deal with morning sickness or any complications.
When we know that a celebrity or member of the royal family is expecting, we also wonder how things are going or how they're feeling — just like we would if our best friend or sister was pregnant.
People magazine said that Meghan Markle was "feeling well" after her 12-week ultrasound, which is great news to hear.
2. A Royal Daughter
Every expectant parent will say that they want a healthy baby. But, as we know, every expectant parent might have an idea of whether they are dreaming of having a son or daughter.
What does Prince Harry wish that his first child will be? Harper's Bazaar reported that when a fan told Prince Harry, "I hope it's a girl!" he said, "So do I."
Maybe we love hearing this story because we also want their baby to be a girl, or maybe we're hoping for a boy. Either way, we know that this baby is going to be loved so much by the royal family and the greater public.

1. There Are Rules
Royal life comes with some rules for public appearances and what clothing is considered okay to wear. The same is true when a female member of the royal family is pregnant.
One rule is that royals don't do baby showers. According to Reader's Digest, "To shower an expectant royal as such would be considered 'bad taste.' That’s why Kate Middleton never had one, nor did Princess Diana or any other royal mummy."
We wish Meghan Markle the best for her first pregnancy and can't wait to see the first pictures of the little one. We just know that they are going to be absolutely adorable.
