People either dislike or love Steph and Ayesha Curry, but there is no in between. Some praise the couple, while others raise their eyebrows in skepticism because surely nothing can be so squeaky clean, right? Either the chips will fall soon to reveal their hidden dysfunction, or, maybe the media totally missed it when they talked circles around their issues.

No, Steph and Ayesha Curry are not #goals. In fact, they beg that you stop calling them the "model couple." They're just two down-to-earth individuals who happen to fall in love and stumble into fame. Leading separate lives has brought insecurities into their relationship that have climaxed to moments where Ayesha was ready to throw in the towel, but through it all, their friendship and devotion to each other has held them glued together.

As E News has pointed out recently, they have certainly "defied the basketball curse", but what is the key to their success? You'd be surprised!

The secret to not accumulating bad press might very well be that they never share their secrets, but if you have stalked them long enough, you would have noticed the red flags. And if you missed them, don't worry, here they are in detail.

12 Drake Had His Eyes On Ayesha

Back in October of 2016, Ayesha was on a promotional tour for her book The Seasoned Life. On her stop in Toronto, Drake surprised her at her signing.

Ayesha's fans described him as overly affectionate, saying that he appeared to be flirting in a YouTube video.

And since Drake has a reputation for stealing his friends' girlfriends, there were a few raised eyebrows in the crowd. Remember when Drake messed around with Lil' Wayne's girlfriend while Wayne was in jail? Naturally Steph wouldn't take the flirting as innocent.

But despite the exchange, nothing more ever happened between him and Ayesha, probably because Steph exchanged some words with him. Oh to be a fly on the wall during that conversation. Drake has been connected to the couple for a handful of years. Ayesha's cousin is a part of his crew that helps him break down and set up for shows, and the paparazzi has spotted him hanging with Steph off and on.

Drake might be a flirt, but Ayesha just doesn't seem like the type to let down her boo.

11 All Thanks To Steph's Mommy

Steph and Ayesha Curry met in church as teenagers. He and Ayesha were attracted to each other but were too shy to exchange many words, plus, Ayesha wasn't allowed to date.

They reconnected when Steph was in college, but what you probably don't know is Steph's mother was tired of the groupies and "prayed" a good girl in. When Steph was invited to the ESPYs for his nomination for Best Breakout Athlete, his mother thought, "Oooooh. L.A. That’s where Ayesha is,” according to Mercury News.

Ayesha had just moved to L.A. to pursue an acting career but hadn't really spoken to Steph in years. Steph listened to his mom's advice and set up a meeting with Ayesha via Facebook. The two hung out and hit it off, so thanks mom.

"Y’all, I feel it in my spirit that this is the one," Mrs. Curry told the women in her Bible study. She sure was right.

10 Steph Likes Feet... A Lot

Ayesha made a guest appearance on The Real last October where she accidentally vented about her husband's secret love.

When asked to show the audience a photo in her camera roll that they would be surprised by, Uproxx reported that she said, "Here. This is a good one. My husband really loves my feet. The light was hitting them just right that day...so when he says to send [pictures], this is what he’s getting at...a picture of my bare feet.

She regretted saying it as soon as it left her mouth though. "He's going to kill me," and of course, the story was picked up by dozens of publications. Oops.

Ayesha does have some beautiful feet though, so Steph's fetish isn't too shocking. And since they're religious people, they probably stand on the fact that the marriage bed is undefiled, so feet it is.

9 What Ayesha Had To Say About Her 'Biggest Fan'

This isn't going to be at all what you expect. So, back in June of 2016, there were reports running wild that Steph Curry was running around on Ayesha with model, Roni Rose.

He first met her after one of his games when she asked for a photo with him. Other than that moment, the two have had zero interaction (at least we know that now). But before we knew, the speculation was taking over the interwebs.

When Ayesha found out, she had something rather shocking to say about Roni. She defended her! Bossip asked Ayesha how she felt about the situation after a photo started circulating of Roni court side looking like she was thirsting after Steph.

According to Vibe.com, Ayesha responded: "What I think is you need to leave her alone. She's been supporting the Dubs for a long time. Stop judging. It's irrelevant."

Now that's some confidence.

8 She's Not An NBA Wife

In an interview with ABC's Nightline, Ayesha was asked if she identifies as an "NBA wife," to which she responded, "I don’t think I’ll ever call myself that. I mean, I don’t think my husband would call himself ‘chef’s wife."

Good point.

After the interview, Ayesha took to Twitter to continue her thoughts. "While it is a part of who I am, it does not define me. I think it’s important to clarify. There are so many layers to the modern day woman!"

Preach.

Well, she definitely defies the stereotype attached to NBA wives. But we have to remember that shaming the others and suggesting Ayesha is the better woman, is just as bad. Some have created memes that say "In a world full of Roni's get you an Ayesha," but Ayesha herself has made it clear that it isn't okay to shame any woman when she defended Roni after the model was accused of messing around with her man.

7 Their Love Story Is Not All That Special

It wasn't love at first site. In fact, Steph was kind of a ladies man until his mother told him he needed to settled down his fast life and find a "good girl." To silence his mother, he agreed to reach out to Ayesha when they both found themselves in L.A. before his NBA career kicked off.

Sure, they were a good fit, but it wasn't an "I saw her, fell for her and the rest was history," kind of story. They had a lot of fun together, became best friends, shared values and decided to do life together.

In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Ayesha was asked to describe a typical night in the Curry home, to which she responded: "A night in is basically trying to wrangle and calm down the children, and somewhere in between there make dinner, have a glass of wine, and attempt to watch a movie — and that never happens. I wish I could make it more interesting for you."

Granted, their "normalness" might be the very thing we feel is so romantic and #goals.

6 Her Predicament With Baby #3

Just like Princess Kate experienced while pregnant with all of her children, Ayesha also has been diagnosed with Hypermesis Gravidarum, which is basically the worst case of morning sickness a woman can get and it's nonstop until delivery.

This basically means the nausea, incessant sickness and exhaustion probably won’t go away. The only silver linings here are that my itty-bitty baby is healthy and Princess Kate has suffered from the same condition during her pregnancies. Not feeling super royal though,” Ayesha shared on her social media pages.

She doesn't claim depression, but Ayesha isn't feeling it this time around.

“I am truly very very sad. When you can’t do what you love all of a sudden because of an uncontrollable situation, it sucks," she said, according to TheGrio.com.

The due date of Baby #3 is unknown, but it's definitely going down this summer. Not too much longer, Ayesha! Hang in there!

5 The Rumors Around Her

Right after the couple announced they are expecting baby number #3, an unnamed Latina Instagram model came clean to Media Takeout about her relationship with Steph Curry.

Is this just a random chick who couldn't contain her hate when the news of Ayesha's pregnancy broke...or will this be the next Kobe scandal? The media site that broke the story, KMEL-FM, is the same organization that first broke the news of Kobe's infidelity.

It's rumored that Steph went on vacation with this unnamed girl and that she has photos and videos of them she's selling to the highest bidder to prove it.

Please, please, please don't be true. Watching the first family of the NBA crash and burn would be way too grieving.

4 The One Thing They Secretly Dislike About Their Fans

You've probably seen the many articles out there with tweets from hundreds of fans suggesting Steph and Ayesha are #Goals, but they actually strongly detest when their fans idolize them in that way.

"I don't like people looking at someone else’s image...We want to represent the right things because that's who we are, but we don’t like when people say '#RelationshipGoals' and stuff. I want people to understand they have to live their own lives the way they want to and not just do what we do," Steph Curry told People.

They're right, you know. Sure, we can admire the things they choose to abstain from that the rest of Hollywood indulges in, and we can appreciate their focus on family and values, but to each his own.

Life will look different for us all and it's just as beautiful.

3 She Obliged Him To Prove His Commitment

Ayesha suggested that she and her hubby get matching tattoos to flaunt their commitment to one another but also to start a pre-game ritual.

"It signifies that our past is behind us and the future is a promise...I do a little sign and I kind of smack my tattoo and she does the same right before each game," Steph said in an interview with USA Today.

Along with those tattoos, Ayesha has five more. She has a small pineapple on her right ankle that she got at a tattoo party after her husband's team won the NBA Championship in June 2017. She has a tattoo of a whisk on her right thumb to tell of her passion for cooking. She has another matching tattoo with Steph that reads "love never fail to be," in Hebrew. She has a simple heart tattoo on her left wrist and the word "faithfully" written in cursive along her left forearm.

As for Steph, he would have virgin skin if it wasn't for the tattoos he has with his wife.

2 Social Media's Adverse Effect On Their Relationship

Ayesha Curry is known for her vents on Twitter. There have been quite a few that blew up in her face, the most controversial being when she "hated" on women who choose to wear less clothing than her.

The tweet: "Everyone's into barely wearing clothes these days huh? Not my style. I like to keep the good stuff covered up for the one who matter."

Of course feminists on social media ate her alive in the comments. According to Huffington Post, most had the same thought: "Sounds as if Ayesha Curry thinks her body/other women's bodies are like consumer goods marketed exclusively for use by men, or something."

Steph came to her defense by posting an Instagram photo of her modestly dressed with a caption that read, "My woman...the #Instagator."

But behind her back he had a good laugh with his buddies at the memes that were circulating of his her statements. This is the cleanest out there (still hilarious):

1 The One Reason Behind Their Success

If they have a secret to their marriage it's that they remember to be individuals. Ayesha is building a career for herself as a chef and author and is soon opening a chain of restaurants. Of course Steph is an NBA star on the Golden State Warriors and is considered the "greatest shooter in NBA history" according to ESPN.

Some think that Ayesha's reason for building a career for herself at home comes from a stark view of gender roles stamped in religion, but that's not the case at all. She genuinely lives for cooking, in fact, she's ready to have baby #3 so she can continue appearances in the food world.

Though the two have separate lives in some ways, they try to travel together at all times. “We travel as a pack, our little wolf pack,” said Ayesha on their ABC special Inside Our Whirlwind Life. When she isn't filming food demonstrations or writing, she and her girls are traveling with daddy.
