Actresses have been the epitome of glamour and grace for Americans since Hollywood’s Golden Age of the 1930s. Vivian Leigh, Katharine Hepburn, and Josephine Baker are all still household names eighty years later and the glamorous allure of Hollywood stunners has only gotten stronger as time has gone on. Most people would assume that glamorous, beautiful women would always fall in love with equally glamorous and beautiful men. Love, however, can be surprising. Some of the most stunning women working in the music and film industries today followed their hearts to men who are not what most people would call conventionally attractive.

Whether drawn together by their work, mutual interests, or common friends, these couples prove that the lines between “out of my league” and “love of my life” are not as thick as some people think. Most of the couples have stood the test of time and stayed strong together in the face of rumors and changing fortunes. Some were not so lucky but all of them, for a time, found love and started a family. As shallow as Hollywood is rumored to be, clearly some leading ladies looked beneath the surface to find love with less than attractive men.

15 Amber Tamblyn And David Cross

Any Arrested Development fans out there? This entry is for you! David Cross has been known for decades as a comedian that favors the low-key and often low-brow. Tamblyn, on the other hand, is best known for her work in General Hospital and clean cut, feel good, girl power movie, “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.

The two had moved in similar circles in Los Angeles for years though they didn’t meet one on one until they shared a flight. Tamblyn kept staring at Cross until finally they changed seats and bonded by mocking the Sky Mall catalog for the remainder of the flight. The couple seems on solid ground in spite of their nineteen-year age difference, an age difference that almost deterred Cross entirely. They were wed in 2012 and Tamblyn later gave birth to a daughter, Marlow Alice.

14 Adriana Lima And Marco Jaric

Adriana Lima struts the catwalks for Victoria’s Secret and Prada, flaunting gorgeous curves and a sultry pout. With her dark hair and piercing eyes, sharp features and well-toned build, she could have her choice of men. For a time, that choice was NBA star, Marko Jaric. The couple met at a Los Angeles party in 2006. Two years later the couple became engaged on Lima’s 27th birthday. They chose to elope a year later in Jackson Hole, Wyoming during a private civil ceremony. Both Lima and Jaric frequently gushed about the joy of marriage and their contentment in the relationship, particularly after daughters Valentina and Sienna were born. It was, unfortunately, not enough to keep them together. Lime and Jaric split in 2016, asking for fans to respect their privacy as they navigated the separation and co-parenting their two young children. Lima has had at least one boyfriend since then, though they too have split.

13 Salma Hayek And Francois-Henri Pinault

Salma Hayek is, without a doubt, an absolute ten. She began acting in 1988 and her star rose quickly soon after. By 1995 she was starring opposite heartthrob Antonio Banderas in “Desperado” and since then has been an almost constant leading lady. She’s been in everything from kid’s movies to horror films and worked with some of the most dashing leading men in Hollywood. None of them stole her heart, however, like French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault.

The couple met in 2006 and dated for a short time before their daughter, Valentina, was born a year later. Hayek and Pinault split for a short time in 2008 before reuniting and ultimately marrying in 2009. According to Hayek, their marriage is built on mutual support and generosity. She even credits Pinault for preventing her from giving up her acting career after the birth of their daughter when Hayek gave the idea some serious thought. Some of Hayek’s most beautiful work has come out in the last ten years, so Pinault was clearly on to something!

12 Beyonce And Jay-Z

Say the word “power couple” in a crowded room and at least five people are going to shout out Beyonce and Jay-Z’s names. Each of them is a musical powerhouse on their own and when they put their talents together they can make magic. Rumors of their relationship began in 2001, though both denied any romantic ties at the time. In 2002, they dropped the now-classic song “ ‘03 Bonnie And Clyde” which would prove to be only the first of many collaborations, many of which came out while the two still denied being involved with one another.

They couldn’t keep it under wraps forever, though. Married in 2008, they have stunned the world for a decade with their fierce love for each other and steadfast connection in the face of whirlwind touring and recording schedules. In those ten years, they’ve produced three beautiful children: Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir, Rumi and Sir, of course, being twins.

11 Paige Butcher And Eddie Murphy

Eddie Murphy may not be conventionally handsome, but he certainly has no problem attracting the ladies! Paige Butcher is a stunning model and actress. She and Murphy have been dating for the last six years, though their relationship is deeper than what usually comes to mind when one uses the term “dating”.

Very little is known about the couple, other than there is an eight-year age gap between them, Paige is the fifth woman to bear Murphy a child, and their daughter is an adorable little girl named Izzy. Butcher, who has always been very guarded in respect to her private life, deleted all her social media accounts shortly after beginning her relationship with Murphy in 2012. She has gone on record saying that she felt enough of her life was already public because of her relationship with a high profile celebrity and she did not want to put anything else out for public scrutiny.

10 Kristen Bell And Dax Shepard

Whether playing a determined sleuth in Veronica Mars or an unexpectedly lovable jerk in The Good Place, Kristen Bell has all the traits of a classic knockout. A bright smile, gorgeous eyes, and the confidence to rock any look she tries on through sheer willpower alone. She’s known for her quick wit, generous soul, and kind personality. And that is perhaps what drew her and Shepard together.

The two met at a birthday party in 2007 and despite their rock-solid marriage now, the two had little to no interest in one another until they met again a few weeks later. Their first year together was rough, marked by frequent fights. Shepard was, at the time, struggling with staying sober and reigning in his old habits of partying hard. Bell, a traditional “good girl” had a hard time with this but their love made it worth the struggle. They now have one of the most solid relationships in the industry, if not in general, and have had two beautiful children, Delta and Lincoln.

9 Felicity Huffman And William H Macy

How’s this couple for a marriage that stands the test of time? Huffman and Macy are both longtime Hollywood veterans who have been together for more than 30 years. The pair first met in the early 1980s when working with New York City’s Atlantic Theater Company. Given Huffman’s stunning good looks, most would be shocked to find out that it was love at first sight, for her! Huffman also admits that she was the one who pursued Macy, calling it a “campaign” and proudly stating that her husband of more than 30 years is worth the effort.

The two dated on and off for the next fifteen years, a situation Huffman has blamed on her fear of commitment and the tendency of Hollywood to cast married women less often. Macy did not give up, however, and the two were wed in 1997. They now have two daughters together, Georgia and Sofia, both of whom were born after the turn of the century.

8 Jillian Grace And David Spade

Sometimes it isn’t love so much as a flash of attraction that can bring two seemingly incompatible people together. Jillian Grace is an actress and former Playboy Playmate who has since become a certified personal trainer. Sometime between 2006 and 2007 she met Spade and the two shared a brief relationship. After the pair broke it off, Grace discovered that she was pregnant and was certain that it was Spade’s. The actor was not so sure. Spade is nineteen years Grace’s senior and their relationship had been very brief, with most people referring to the connection as little more than a “fling”.

But when Harper Spade was born in 2008, David confirmed that he was the father of Grace’s child and took full parental responsibility. The pair are still seen together now and then, most often celebrating special occasions with their daughter.

7 Rosalind Ross And Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson is notorious for a lot of things and for many women that includes his charm. There is, however, no denying that he is outclassed by his gorgeous girlfriend Rosalind Ross. Ross, known as Rosey to her friends, was an equestrian vaulter. This means that she dances and performs gymnastics all while mounted on horseback. She gave the sport up in her early twenties to pursue a writing degree and ultimately applied for a job with Gibson’s production company in 2014

The actor was immediately taken with the young woman and the two began a whirlwind romance. This led to the birth of son Lars in 2017. Lars is Ross’ first child but is Gibson’s ninth after the actor had seven with now-ex-wife Robyn Moore and one with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

6 Isla Fisher And Sacha Baron Cohen

Isla Fisher is a knockout bombshell in the classic sense of the word, best known for her role as the Fourth Horseman in Now You See Me. She is most often seen flaunting gorgeous reddish blonde waterfall curls and on the red carpet, she rocks the most classic styles, bringing back old Hollywood glamour and owning it like a signature style. Her friends are just as gorgeous, the angelic Margot Robbie and sultry Amal Clooney among them. Her husband, however, is not what most people would call conventionally handsome.

Sacha Baron Cohen is best known in America as Borat, a role that has earned him no small amount of controversial attention for all the movie’s age. In the United Kingdom, he is better known for his variety skit show. The two first met in 2002 at a party in Australia and married eight years later in Paris, France. The two have since had three children: daughters Olive and Montgomery, and son Elula.

5 Julia Roberts And Danny Moder

Julia Roberts has carried the title of America’s Sweetheart since the early 90’s. She’s known best for her roles in iconic films like “Pretty Woman” and “Steel Magnolias” as well as playing Tinkerbell in the hit Peter Pan sequel “Hook”. Her smile is iconic and her talent undeniable. And her relationship with Danny Moder has been the stuff of tabloid writers’ dreams since they first began dating in 2001.

Moder was still married at the time and his wife was not at all intimidated by Roberts’ star power. Modern’s first wife, Vera Steimberg, did not make the separation easy on either Roberts or Moder. But in the end, Moder and Roberts were married, tying the knot in 2002. The couple went on to have three children: twin son and daughter Hazel and Phinnaeus (commonly referred to as Finn), followed by son Henry. For all the rumors that surround these two, with new ones popping up daily, the couple still seems to be going strong.

4 Tina Fey And Jeff Richmond

Despite playing to the “plain nerdy girl” stereotype in her hit show, 30 Rock, Tina Fey has long been acknowledged as one of comedy's most beautiful leading ladies. Fans of the show often rooted for her character to hook up with Alec Baldwin’s character, a man with a nearly universal appeal to women. And though Liz Lemon ends up with an equally attractive man in the show finale, Fey’s true love turned out to look quite different from Baldwin.

Jeff Richmond is a composer and director, most recently known for his work on Fey’s show 30 Rock. The two met while working at The Second City, a comedy club in Chicago, Illinois. They married after seven years of dating, celebrating with a Greek Orthodox ceremony. They’ve now been married for more than 17 years and produced two children, both girls: Penelope and Alice.

3 Amber Portwood And Andrew Glennon

Longtime fans of the MTV show Teen Mom will remember Amber Portwood. She is one of four women who, as a pregnant high school student, appeared on the show 16 & Pregnant and now appears on the show Teen Mom OG. She has had more than her fair share of ups and downs and has since turned her life around from the chaotic partying of her younger years. This has not stopped her, however, from taking the fast track with her new boyfriend, Andrew Glennon.

The two met when Andrew was working on the set of Marriage Bootcamp, another show Portwood has appeared on. They waited for production to wrap before pursuing a romance but once the show was over they dove in head first. After only three months of dating the pair, aged 27 (Portwood) and 33 (Glennon), announced that they were expecting their first child together. The child recently discovered to be a healthy boy, will be Portwood’s second on-air pregnancy.

2 Pamela Bach And David Hasselhoff

Sometimes when a celebrity couple starts out, everything seems roses. They can be together for decades before suddenly calling it quits and cracking open a hornet’s nest of problems. Pamela Bach and David Hasselhoff can attest to this. The two married in 1989 at the height of both their careers. Hasselhoff is an almost household name at this point though his fame really started with the popularity of Baywatch and Knight Rider in the 80’s. He’s also a popular singer in Germany, though his music is not quite as well received here in the United States.

In 2006 the couple called it quits, ending a seventeen-year marriage that had produced two daughters, Taylor and Hayley. To this day Bach and Hasselhoff are at odds, making tabloid headlines with accusations and arguments.

1 Bebe Buell And Steven Tyler

Oh Steven Tyler. The Aerosmith frontman has had a long string of women in his life, most of them termed “groupies” on the assumption that they pursued the sharp-featured singer not for his looks but for his star power. Bebe Buell was seen as one such groupie despite having some star power of her own. She was an actress and fashion model when she met Tyler in the mid to late 70’s. She had also been the Playboy Playmate of the month in November 1974, prior to meeting Tyler.

The couple were a brief item in 1976 during one of Buell’s on-again-off-again breaks from long-time lover Todd Rundgren. Her fling with Tyler led to the birth of now-famous daughter Liv Tyler in 1977, the first child for either Buell or Tyler. In fact Tyler did not even know Liv was his daughter for almost a decade. Buell had lied and insisted the child was Rundgren’s to protect Liv from Tyler’s drug addictions at the time, a lie Rundgren supported on behalf of his lover and her daughter. The truth came out in 1986, however, and Buell had to admit that Liv was not Liv Rundgren as her name had been, but Liv Tyler.
