If you're one of the millions of people in this world under the impression that celebrities can do whatever they want then you're right. Once again, celebrities are breaking the rules.  Only this time the rules broken have to do with having babies late in life.

There was a time when women started having babies as soon as their bodies would allow. Find a husband at 16 - check. Have a baby by 17 - check. Be a grandma by 35 - check.

Now, it's a different era. We have children for a totally different reason and women seem to be waiting longer to have their children, too. In fact celebrities are notorious for having babies later in life.

You can see why, though. Even with the increased risks, celebrities spend up their young and vivacious days in front of a camera. They're not dumb. They know how much havoc pregnancy can wreak on a body and their body is their meal ticket. So, they opt to wait until later in life.

Most celebrities are waiting until their thirties and some are even kicking it all the way back to their fifties. Of course we regular Joes are doing nothing less than sitting back in our judgmental recliners pointing fingers. Can you blame us?

There just comes a point when it's just too dang old to be having babies. Those little boogers take a lot out of you! And the older you get the less energy you have to give.

We'll let you be the judge of how old is too old, though. Here is a round-up of 15 celebrities who were way too old to become moms. Enjoy!

15 Celine Dion - 42

The famed singer Celine Dion has always had a unique relationship with age. For instance, she emerged as a talented star in her teens. Meeting her husband Rene Angelil at only age 12, she married him less than a decade later. Head over heals in love with each other, she stuck by his side until his recent death.

Even with her stardom, she was without that infinite internal happiness. Dion and her husband had their first child when she 33. After touring the world a few times and singing non-stop at Caesars Palace, they decided to try for another.

They tried IVF six times, one right after the other and finally conceived twins. Dion was 42 when she gave birth and her husband was 69. Before he passed on, Dion said in an interview that she'd like to try again for a little girl.

14 Christie Brinkley - Age 41 And 44

If you can't tell by this picture, Christie Brinkley is still a hot babe. Seriously, she's drop-dead gorgeous. Just so you know this was taken during a photo shoot with her two daughters for Sports Illustrated. Although she's definitely aged, she has this amazing sparkle in her eyes that makes her look so youthful and timelessly classic!

She might have waited to have kids just to get a few more flawless photos in her portfolio, who knows? It seems that childbearing didn't do a whole lot of damage to her body, though. I mean, she's posing for Sports Illustrated in her sixties!

Needless to say, I'm not sure if we can all look at Brinkley and justify our finger pointing. She seems to have everything under control. Still, having babies at age 41 and 44 just seems incredibly difficult.

13 Gwen Stefani - Age 44

The running theme in his list, as you'll come to realize, is that not many of these moms seem to look their age. Maybe it's all in the genes, but Gwen Stefani is another mom who had babies at what we'd call an old age.

We all know the super-sappy and devious tale of Stefani and her then-husband Gavin Rossdale. Ole Rossdale couldn't keep his hands off of the help and cheated on Stefani while she was pregnant with their youngest son, Apollo.

Stefani refers to her pregnancy as a miracle. Se goes on to say, "I was trying at the time to do more music with No Doubt. Then I got pregnant, and I was like, 'OK, well what am I going to do now? I need to make some changes,'" she said. "There's only so much energy."

12 Jane Seymour - Age 44

I'm not sure if you were a huge Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman fan, but I was. Jane Seymour is just the most wonderful, professional actress that I can think of. She went through a bitter divorce from David Flynn and came out with a great attitude.

She settled down with James Keach and decided to have more kids. They already have a significant brood from their previous relationships, but still wanted more. The way she looked at the big family was that they had an array of ages and no shortage of babysitters.

She is an all-around positive person so she was positive about being pregnant at such a mature age. She has described her pregnancy as having more nausea than previous pregnancies. The show had planned for her character to be pregnant anyway, so it sort of worked out well for everyone.

11 Marcia Cross - Age 44

It's possible that no one else in this world radiates quite like Marcia Cross does. She just has this natural positivity that beams from her. It doesn't matter if she is wearing makeup or not, high heals or flip flops - she's just naturally amazing.

At age 44 she had her twins and it was NOT an easy job. She married her husband Tom Mahoney in June and they started right in on baby making. Shortly after the wedding, the couple announced that they were expecting in April.

She had a difficult pregnancy, so she was one pregnancy and done with it! In fact, the tail end of Desperate Housewives decided to film the last few episodes in her house just to keep the show on the air. How's that for a gift! Oh, you're bed-ridden? Well, the best medicine for that is most definitely a temporary house renovation and an annoying camera crew!

10 Iman - Age 45

One of the most endearing of Hollywood love stories is that of Iman and David Bowie. When they first met, both knew that they were meant for each other. They married in 1992, each having one child from a previous relationship.

Bowie and Iman were married for 24 happy years. In that time, they had a daughter named Alexandria.

After bowie passed away, Christy Brinkley tweeted a sweet tweet in remembrance of Alexandria's conception story:

"Iman always told the story in such a charming way... "It took two blondes to get me pregnant David Bowie and Christie Brinkley!" "You see..." Iman explained to me, "in Somalia they say if you are having trouble getting pregnant you must hold a baby all day" so I handed her my baby, Sailor, and she held her all day long ...and sure enough, it worked! After 7 years trying without luck... Iman got pregnant!

9 Susan Sarandon - Age 42 And 45

Susan Sarandon is another timeless classic. Her daughter Eva Amurri looks so much like her it's ridiculous. What's even crazier is that both of her later pregnancies caught Sarandon totally off guard. Including Eva, Sarandon has two sons named Jack and Miles.

She was 42 when she got pregnant with then-partner Tim Robbinsm. She describes her pregnancy as something she couldn't ignore. Also, claiming that no one knew how this happened since she was so old, everyone was surprise.

Then at age 45, they had a repeat and were surprised all over again! The couple handled it all in stride. I'm sure after that second surprise, Sarandon and her partner got a little bit more safe with their hanky panky, because that was the last time she got pregnant.

8 Jane Kaczmarek - Age 41, 44, And 47

TV star Jane Kaczmarek feels comfortable in the "mom" skin. She plays the screaming mom on the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle and we all love her for it. After having her children, she decided to take some time off from the show to spend time with her kids.

Her reasoning is stated clearly in her statement, “I think the great thing about being older is you are so much more aware that your days are numbered…I am so grateful for everything in my life at this point. It doesn’t get any better than this, and you realize this is all going to end one day.”

Another great thing about having kids at an older age is that you're more grounded. Kaczmarek is proving this by how she's raising her children. She's worth a ton of money, but they live like a down-to-earth kind of family.

7 Halle Berry - Age 41 And 47

Forties were IT for the ever-gorgeous Halle Berry. As you can imagine, Berry is known for dating other incredibly gorgeous people. In fact, when she decided to slow down her career and have a baby, it was with the model Gabriel Aubry.

Since their split, the two parents have had their differences. Rumor has it that Aubry even took a couple blows from a then-beau of Berry's.

She has two children; a daughter named Nahla with Gabriel Aubry and a son Maceo with estranged husband Olivier Martinez. Naha was delivered when Berry was 41 and her son came while Berry was the ripe old age of 47. You can't tell that Berry is this age because she look so unbelievably fantastic, but 41 was the magic age childbearing for this actress.

6 Holly Hunter - Age 47

Oscar winning Holly Hunter followed in the footsteps of several celebrities before her and became a first time at age 47. In fact, both her and her partner Gordon MacDonald are both first-time parents. He's a British actor for those of you who aren't into British television.

It seems that having twins is kind of the "thing" to do when you have babies later on in life. This trend probably has to do with the fact that it's often much more difficult to get pregnant after the age of...yep, you guessed it, 35. This number seems to be the big, fat, negative number to us moms.

Hunter gave birth to two healthy boys. She is a brilliant born actress oozing with talent. Since both parents are uber talented, I'm guessing her kiddos will follow suit.

5 Kelly Preston - Age 48

The Preston's have a bittersweet story to tell. You all know John Travolta and for those of you who don't, he was the star of the movie Grease (plus a bunch more). His long-time wife has had her share of screen time, as well.

The couple lost their eldest son Jett due to complications revolving a seizure. He was diagnosed with autism and was an absolute joy to be around friends of the family tell.

A year after Jett's death, she became pregnant with their son Ben. She talks about her pregnancy, "When I found out I was pregnant, I was floored," she said. "I'd snuck out of bed and then came back and woke Johnny up in bed. We both started crying. It was wonderful."

4 Geena Davis - Age 46 And 48

You know the song about Bette Davis eyes? Well, such a song could be penned for another Davis body part. Geena Davis is known for her stunning pouty lips and infectious smile. Plus, those killer dimples are unforgettable!

You remember her gritty demeanor in the baseball movie A League of Their Own, right? Not even ballpark dust and sweat could cover up this lady's beauty.

There's more to her than just looks, though. An avid supporter of gender equality, she's a very busy lady. She must have been busy, because she didn't start having kids until she was 46. She shut down the baby-making department at age 48.

All her children are happy, healthy, and lucky to have such a great mom!

3 Beverly D'Angelo - Age 49

If you're not quite sure who this pretty face is, just think National Lampoon's Vacation. She is great pals with Chevy Chase  and even disclosed to him some of her concerns with having babies so late in life. Chase admitted in an interview, "Because she's not a young mother, she was a little nervous."

If your memory need a little more rattling, there is more to this unique story. She was dating Al Pacino then and he is the father of her twins, Anton and Olivia. He was in his sixties at the time!

Here we were thinking that 49 was a little late in life to be having children and yet the father of her children was over a decade older than she was.

Much cane said of Pacino's bambinos, though. Everyone who knows Beverly gloats about what an awesome some she is. We assume that ole Al isn't so bad himself. Although, they didn't stick together, the two still successfully co-parent.

2 Janet Jackson - Age 50

Probably the most recent of notoriously late-to-the-game mothers is Janet Jackson. Last year she put off her Unbreakable World Tour until a later date to plan a family with her husband Wissam Al Mana.

If you remember last year, she was absolutely glowing as an ecstatic mom-to-be. She ended up having a stress-free healthy delivery and everything went well.

Looking at her reaction to motherhood, I just feel like she waited a long dang time for this. She has an amazing career and is incredibly successful. Much like Celine Dion described a hole in her heart only to be filled by her children, I think Jackson had the same emptiness.

Even at 50 and through exhausted mom eyes, she is all smiles and is embracing this time in her life 150%!

1 Sophie B Hawkins -Age 50

Hawkins went about motherhood a different way. She froze 15 of her own embryos at age 31 then conceived her son Dashiell in 2008 then her daughter Esther in 2015. She says that the family of three is now complete.

On becoming a mom so late in life, Hawkins commented, "Being 50 is actually an amazing age to have a second child because I am more wise, calm, humorous, appreciative, simple and clear,"

She went on to say,  "I'm not running around looking for love and validation. I live each day full of gratitude, and that's good for my children."

The only thing she was afraid of was losing that special connection she had with her son. They've been doing their mother-son thing for a while now, so it was more emotionally risky for Hawkins than anything else, in her opinion. Everything seemed to work out as the family is more close now than ever.
