Whether building out a baby registry or picking up a few things after the baby shower, deciding what baby products to buy isn’t as easy as it seems. There are a million different brands and every brand has a million different options of their own products. Narrowing down the choices can be daunting.

The best place to start is usually on the internet. Research, research, research. It’s the best way to determine which products will fit the baby’s needs. And while buried in research, it’s likely a few celebrity endorsements will pop up. But can they be trusted?

From the best strollers to the diapers of choice, celebrities are often vocal about their favourite baby products. This is perfect for their fans, who want to do everything they can to emulate their favorite star's lifestyle. Except when, sometimes, celebrity moms are slightly wrong about the merits of their favorite products, which we've included too.

We’ve rounded up fifteen of the best celebrity-endorsed baby products that every mom should add to her wishlist. Plus, we’ve thrown in four celebrity-endorsed baby products that every mom should avoid at all costs.

19 Angelina Jolie’s Go-To Diaper Bag

Finding the perfect diaper bag is somewhat of an art. While some moms might have had a whole closet full of purses before the baby came along, odds are there will only be one by their side after a baby comes along. The perfect diaper bag is a mix of style and functionality. You want something you can carry every day, but that can also carry everything from extra diapers and bottles to pacifiers and toys.

Who better to turn to for a recommendation than Angelina Jolie? When speaking about parenting, Jolie said that she tries to lead her family by setting a good example. "Really the only way I know to raise them is to really listen,” she told Elle. “It's perhaps the most important thing any parent can do. They are resilient children but they are children, and as much as they need help to understand the hard truths in life they also need what we all need–protection and love."

Mother of six, Angelina Jolie is not only the earth mother extraordinaire, she’s also exceptionally stylish. So when she stands by a diaper bag, moms around the world listen.

Her go-to diaper bag was the Storksak Emily Diaper Bag. She kept it classic and simple by opting for the black version. It comes with a padded changing mat, lots of compartments and two insulated side-zip pockets that can keep bottles warm or cold for five hours.

While the Emily has been discontinued, Storksak has many other amazing options to choose from that we’re sure Angelina would love.

18 The Only Maternity Jeans Halle Berry Needs

When you’re pregnant, you can usually manage to stay in your own jeans until about 12 weeks. After that, it most likely becomes a tighter squeeze that you aren’t willing to suffer through. It’s time to take the plunge and pick up one or two great pairs of maternity jeans. Where to begin the shopping trip? If your usual jean brand carries maternity, you’re in the clear. But if not, where do you turn?

Mom of two, Halle Berry, was pregnant in 2007 when she praised the style of the time, noting how perfect it was for maternity wear. "It's a perfect time to be pregnant because everything in fashion is loose-fitting with an Empire waist," Berry told InStyle in 2007.

And while the empire waist is no longer as en vogue as it was in 2007, some of Berry’s maternity wear favourites are still in style.

Cult brand and Halle Berry’s favourite maternity jeans are J Brand maternity jeans. With a higher cut back and a low slung front, these jeans avoid the often-seen high-waisted elastic panel. Instead, they have hidden elastic panels on either side of the waistband.

J Brand maternity jeans let you wear them from the first trimester through to the third trimester in complete style.

17 Unsafe: Kim K’s Morning Sickness Meds Faux-Pas

Kim Kardashian found herself in hot water when she became the public face of Diclegis, a morning sickness medication. Kardashian shared a picture on Instagram after revealing her second pregnancy to the world.

"OMG. Have you heard about this? As you guys know my #morningsickness has been pretty bad," she wrote. "I tried changing things about my lifestyle, like my diet, but nothing helped, so I talked to my doctor. He prescribed me #Diclegis, and I felt a lot better and most importantly, it's been studied and there was no increased risk to the baby."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration had a serious problem with Kardashian’s post. Mainly because she left out the major risk factors that can affect the mom-to-be. The FDA noted that the medication can cause an accelerated heartbeat, dilated pupils, confusion and drowsiness.

The issue isn’t that the drug is necessarily unsafe for pregnant women. The real problem is that Kardashian left out the major side effects and, in general, shouldn’t be the person recommending medication to people—that job should be reserved for their doctors.

Other doctors have even said that the medication doesn’t work after reviewing a 1970s study of the two medicines that make up Diclegis.

16 The Swaddling Blanket Fit For Royalty

Whether we are talking about actual royalty or Hollywood royalty, odds are they are using an Aden + Anais swaddling blanket to keep their little ones bundled up. When it comes to baby blankets, the Australian brand is the longtime number one bestseller on Amazon.

When Kate Middleton and Prince William walked out of St. Mary’s with their brand new baby boy, Prince George, they had the future king wrapped up in an Aden + Anais swaddling blanket.

And if that wasn’t enough, Beyonce and Jay Z have been spotted out and about with Blu Ivy sporting an Aden + Anais swaddling blanket.

If it is good enough for the Princess of Cambridge and Queen Bey, well, it’s good enough for us! But the list doesn’t end there. Aden + Anais swaddling blankets may be the most endorsed celebrity parenting product of all time. From Charlize Theron, Kourtney Kardashian and Jessica Alba to Nicole Kidman, Heidi Klum, Jennifer Garner and Gwen Stefani, the list of celebrity endorsers goes on.

The Aden + Anais swaddling blanket comes in a variety of gorgeous prints and all are made from beautifully breathable muslin. It’s a definite must-have for every new mom.

15 Chrissy Teigen Keeps Luna Pure

When Pampers released their new Pure line of diapers in early 2018, we were pretty excited to see who their biggest celebrity endorser was. The one and only Chrissy Teigen was excited to step forward as the face of the new brand.

Teigen shared just how deep their family’s love of Pampers goes. "We have been a Pampers family since John's birth. John wore them, I wore them, and so did Luna. We knew we could love Pampers the very first day because the hospital used them," she told Popsugar.

"We've also been using Pampers since Luna was born. We haven't used anything else, ever."

"This line is basically taking something you love and use, and making it better… We just try to use the best products for [Luna], and we want to use something that is as clean as possible and fragrance-free," she said. "[Babies] are just so hypersensitive to everything, and to have a product you love that is just made better is just a really natural, easy choice."

Pampers Pure is available now in the United States but if you’re in Canada, you’re going to have to be patient and wait for this clean line of diapers to arrive.

14 Unsafe: Not The Best Place To DockATot

It isn’t often that a celebrity-approved baby product actually ends up on an advisory list. But that is what has happened with the cult favourite DockATot. A favourite with celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Coco Rocha, Scarlett Johansson and Emilie de Ravin, DockATot is a “multi-functional lounging, playing, chilling, resting and snuggling dock you can take anywhere.”

And while so many mothers swear by it, Health Canada spoke out about the potential dangers of the product. It has been referred to as a “portable bed” and therein lies the problem.

The soft, padded sides of the DockATot pose a serious suffocation risk, much like crib bumpers and blankets in the crib.

DockATot is very clear on their website that their product should not be used as a place for baby to sleep for extended periods of time or overnight. But that hasn’t stopped parents from using it for just that. The online reviews include many like “my newborn baby loves it and sleeps 5-6 hrs straight in it!” and “ridiculously expensive but worth it… it’s the safest way to co-sleep.”

Before you decide to pick up a DockATot, be sure you are aware how to safely use the product with your little one.

13 How Kelly Ripa Gets Rid Of Stinky Diapers

Mother of three, Kelly Ripa, knows there is a lot more that goes into parenting than just the latest gadget. “With each one, you get less panicky. Lola was a much more relaxed infant than Michael because we were always standing over Michael, going, ‘Did he blink? What was that? What was that?,’ she told Good Housekeeping. “Can you imagine being a small baby waking up and there are eight frightening-looking people who haven't slept in three weeks standing over you?”

And while time and practice can help, there are a few products that every mom needs.

In Ripa’s opinion, the most important one is the Diaper Genie. “I just like the whole it goes away, you twist, you turn, it goes away, the ergonomic design. It's very efficient,” she and husband Mark Consuelos told Popsugar.

Best of all, the Diaper Genie is super affordable, making it the perfect addition to any nursery.

Unless you’re in a position to drop your diapers into an outdoor garbage every time you change your baby, you’re going to want to invest in some kind of diaper disposal unit. Otherwise, you might find your home overwhelmed by smells you’d rather forget.

It’s super efficient and boasts an ergonomic design that looks great. It’s now available in a range of colours that go great with any nursery decor.

12 Jessica Alba’s Out-Of-This-World Stroller

Choosing a stroller is one of the biggest decisions a new mom has to make. There are so many options out there that it can start to feel a bit overwhelming. Looking for reviews online can be the best way to narrow down your search to finding the perfect stroller to tote your tot in.

If the Orbit Baby Stroller Travel System isn’t on your list, add it now. A favourite with Hollywood moms, the Orbit is not only a beautiful stroller is also rotates 360 degrees and has a huge basket to stash your diaper bag and other bags in underneath.

Jessica Alba is a huge fan and used the stroller for both her daughters, Honor and Haven.

“Orbit is my favourite,” she told Fit Pregnancy. “You can use it as a car seat and a stroller so you never have to take the baby out. Then when the baby gets bigger you can put a toddler seat in. It's also eco-friendly."

Alba isn’t the only celebrity mom who uses the luxury stroller. Nicole Richie, Tori Spelling and Melissa Joan Hart also use an Orbit to get their kids around town.

11 Did You Know Victoria Beckham Loves To Hike?

When you think of Victoria Beckham, you probably don’t think too much about hiking. You think glamour, luxury, high heels, bodycon dresses and her gorgeous kids. “All our kids are amazing. I mean, they’re really good kids. You know, they work hard at school. They’re happy. They’re funny. They are just really good kids," Beckham told Us Weekly.

But here’s a little secret you may not have known: Victoria and David Beckham love to spend family time hiking through the Grand Canyon and the Hollywood hills.

When the couple’s daughter Harper was younger, it wasn’t as easy as strapping hiking boots on her and sending her on her way. Instead, they would strap her into a carrier backpack. Their carrier of choice will impress hiking aficionados around the world. Back in 2016, the couple posted on Instagram about a wonderful hike they took. Pictured? Little Harper strapped into the Deuter Kid Comfort 3 on David’s back.

This carrier is incredibly comfortable and breathable for both baby and parent. And best of all it’s safe for both as well. Adjustable straps make it wearable for both mom and dad, and the addition of handy pockets allow you to carry a few items along with you on long hikes.

10 Unsafe: Should You Believe The Amber Teething Necklace Hype?

You’ve probably seen them on kids everywhere from the local grocery store to the park. Amber teething necklaces have been quite the rage and celebrities like Rachel Zoe and Jewel swear by them.

Jewel even claimed it as her mommy must-have. “When he's teething, it really helps cut down on his pain,” she told Popsugar.

So how do they work? Amber is said to release healing oils and resins that are absorbed when they come into contact with baby’s warm skin. The necklaces are supposed to reduce inflammation, relieve pain and soothe baby.

But do they really work? Well, according to science, no they don’t. There is no evidence to suggest that there is any benefit to wearing an amber teething necklace.

And one study even found that there might be a bigger risk—that of choking on a bead or strangling themselves on the necklace. Pediatricians don’t recommend using amber teething necklaces because of these very apparent risks.

There are many other ways to help baby soothe sore gums that are much safer. Try a wet washcloth or one of the many chew toys that are on the market.

9 Kevin Jonas's VERY Clean Baby

One thing that parents will likely be doing more once a baby comes along: laundry. Between diaper blowouts and food fiascos, sometimes a baby can go through four or five outfits a day. So it’s no surprise that laundry detergent is going to be a big factor in any new parents’ life.

In an effort to control the release of the first photos of their new baby, teen heartthrob Kevin Jonas and his wife Danielle decided to take matters into their own hands. They paired with Dreft laundry detergent to release the first photos of their newborn daughter.

Using the “Amazing Baby Days” app, the couple released photos of their daughter Alena. “We wanted to be the ones to [release the first pictures.] We didn't want other people to end up leaking a photo of our daughter before us; we wanted to be the ones in control,” Jonas told Parade Magazine.

While it would be great to think that Jonas was in it to support a brand he loves, odds are he and his wife received a pay cheque for giving Dreft exclusive rights to their photos. But, hey, we aren’t judging.

We’d rather take a payday and have control over the release of our baby’s first photo versus having the images splashed across the tabloids.

8 Pregnancy Test To The Stars

Trying to decide which pregnancy test to pick up? Walking into your local pharmacy and starting down the wall of potential tests can be a bit overwhelming. Do you need the digital readout or the classic plus-or-minus lines? What about Bluetooth, is that really necessary?

Do your research to see which pregnancy test might work best for you, but may we suggest Jessica Simpson’s top pick? The tried and true Clearblue.

While Simpson wasn’t pregnant when she started talking about how much she loves Clearblue pregnancy tests, she was excited to share her pregnancy journey. On Jay Leno, she once joked about knowing it was time to take a pregnancy test. “I was just like, ‘Why do I feel guilty about going to have cocktails with my friends? Maybe I should just pee on a stick!'” she said.

Later, she tweeted about her pregnancy test and included photos of the positive test as well as pictures of her son, Ace, while praising Clearblue pregnancy tests. So next time you run to the store to pick up a pregnancy test, maybe give the Clearblue tests a second look!

7 Jessica Alba Made Her Favorite Products Herself

When it comes to your kids, nothing is too good. And for a lot of parents, it’s important to find products that are safe and effective for their kids. This couldn’t be truer than when it comes to bath products. Remember, what goes on your skin goes in your skin.

This is where Jessica Alba found herself when she and husband Cash Warren started having kids. “We were parents in search of safe options, but unsure of where to turn,” Alba wrote on the Honest Company website. “We needed one brand that we could go to for trusted products and information. And when we couldn't find what we were looking for—and realized we weren't alone—the idea for Honest was born.”

From cleaning supplies and disposable diapers to formula and shampoo, The Honest Company offers products that are safe for everyone from the smallest to the biggest kids in your family.

“I founded The Honest Company because I wanted safe, effective products that perform,” said Alba. “After all, you shouldn't have to choose between what works and what's good for you.”

The products under Alba’s company are all eco-friendly and toxin-free and there is a complete baby line that can take you from bath time to meal time.

6 Unsafe: The Seat Not Worth Sitting In

If you haven’t heard of a Bumbo seat, where have you been? This product is meant to prop up an infant in a sitting position before they are physically able to do so on their own. The Bumbo website says that the seat has actual developmental benefits and can enhance a baby’s posture.

Actress Jill Hennessy swore by her Bumbo seat to People Magazine in 2008. “[My must-have is] a Bumbo seat, so you can start feeding them upright and they feel like they are part of the dinner table.” She definitely saw the benefit of the Bumbo.

Fast-forward to 2016, and physical therapists are speaking out against the Bumbo seat. They say that it can actually teach babies incorrect posture alignment with a rounded back and their heads leaning forward.

Physical therapist Colleen Harper, director of developmental, rehabilitative and child life services at Chicago's La Rabida Children's Hospital says, "No equipment enhances a child's motor development; equipment is a 'baby sitter' so that a parent can cook dinner, eat dinner or take a shower. A gross motor skill like sitting is achieved through movement and practice. Children fall out of Bumbo seats because they do not yet have the requisite strength, balance and coordination needed for sitting."

So if you were considering putting a Bumbo on your registry, you might want to rethink it.

5 The Only Ride For Camila Alves's Kids

Self-proclaimed “strict but fun” mom of three, Camila Alves is all about raising great kids while having a good time.

"I am a strict parent that also has fun. A combination of both. I think it's very important to teach kids manners, respect others,” she told People. “I can get very, very silly and I think that if you set the basis, then you can go and be free and have fun and go crazy, but they're always going to remember that base core value that you taught them."

Alves and her husband Matthew McConaughey are all about balance in their lives. And they take that very seriously, even when it comes to activities with their kids. They love balance bikes and they’ve been the ride of choice for all three of their kids.

They prefer the Early Rider, which can be used at 20 months because the seat can be adjusted as the kids grow.

Balance bikes are great, as they help kids develop their balance and also help them build strength, and fine-tune their motor skills, agility and coordination. They also help to make exercise fun for kids from a young age and they might be the key to skipping training wheels altogether.

4 There's Only High Chair For Jaime King's Kids

There is a lot that goes into feeding a baby, a picky toddler or even a school-aged kid. Finding a high chair that can evolve with your baby from newborn to toddlerhood to beyond is a big win in my books and an even bigger win in Jaime King’s book. It is all about minimalism in King’s home: “It’s so important to raise your kids to understand that it’s not about having a lot of things. If you have fewer things, you cherish them more,” she told InStyle when decorating the nursery for her second son Leo.

The mother of two swears by the Nuna Zaaz high chair. “I love that it grows with the baby, from a high chair to a regular chair to a seat. I can’t stand waste!,” she told People.

Not only does the Zaaz grow with your child, it also features a lift mechanism to easily adjust the height of the chair meaning baby can join you at the dinner table. It also has a no-crevice design and removable plastic components that you can throw into the dishwasher making clean up a breeze. And trust me, when your little one starts on solids, you’re going to want a high chair that makes cleanup quick and easy.

3 The Only Diaper Cream Bridget Moynahan Uses

Diaper changes are part of being a mom and with that inevitably comes diaper rash. It’s caused by many different things: wetness, a new food, sensitive skin or even antibiotics. Diaper rash is extremely uncomfortable for little ones, so getting it under control quickly is important. That’s why every mom needs to have an amazing diaper cream in her arsenal.

While you might need to try a few different creams to find the one that works best for your baby, there is one clear winner to try first.

When actress and model Bridget Moynahan’s son was baby, she tried to keep his skincare routine as basic as possible.

"I kept it really low maintenance when my child was a baby. I did Johnson & Johnson, I did California Baby, which I love, and Butt Paste! Nobody knows about Butt Paste but I love it,” she told Us Weekly.

“Only moms know! It works!”

The moms-only secret Moynahan is referring to? Boudreaux's Butt Paste aka the magic diaper cream. Rated with 4.5 stars across review sites everywhere, Boudreaux's Butt Paste has a high zinc oxide content that helps to nip diaper rash in the bud. It now comes in original, extra strength and natural formulations so there is something for everyone.

2 Melissa Joan Hart never loses anything

Once your kids are off to school and camp, there are a lot of things to keep tabs on. Lunchboxes and backpacks, t-shirts and extra shoes: there are a million and one things that kids need to get through the day, or the week if you’ve moved on to sleepaway camp. So what can you do to ensure your kids come home with their own stuff? Melissa Joan Hart has the key.

"Mabel's Labels are so cool. You can put them in shoes, so kids know left from right. It's great for when they go back to school because you can label their sippy cups and lunch boxes so nothing gets lost,” said Hart.

Mabel’s Labels are durable labels that can safely go in the laundry, dishwasher and microwave. The line includes baby labels, child safety products, sports labels, household organizational labels and seasonal items to get you through all the holiday seasons. They are a great way to get your kids excited about their own stuff and to have them take responsibility for their property as well. The labels come in all kinds of fun patterns and themes, meaning there is something for every kid.

1 Molly Sims Can’t Get Enough LEGO

What is the best toy you could possibly get for your kids? There are so many to choose from your head might spin just trying to wrap yourself around this issue. But you may not be too keen on a toy with lots of little pieces that can get underfoot and cause you considerable pain when they are left around the house.

But actress and model Molly Sims swears by these building blocks.

“We are like the king and queen of LEGOs. They are so good for development, they are so good for your motor skills. I know [LEGO] can be messy but don’t worry about it being messy. My son Brooks is addicted to them,” she told Us Weekly. “It gives you at least fifteen minutes of silence and every now and then you need that.”

Sims even hosted a LEGO-themed birthday party for her four-year-old son, Brooks. The party was complete with giant LEGOS, a LEGO Superman cake, LEGO-themed treats and LEGO stations for the kids to build and play with.

To be honest, she had us at “fifteen minutes of silence”, but Sims glowing endorsement might even make it worth stepping on a stray block every now and then!
