15 Mariah Carey

Chart topping singer Mariah Carey is the mother to beautiful twin darlings: son, Moroccan and daughter, Monroe (aka Roc and Roe). Getting them into the world was a struggle to say the least. Mariah underwent fertility treatments after suffering a devastating miscarriage. The twins were conceived thanks to the treatments, but her pregnancy trials were far from over.

Carey was induced at 35 weeks after being diagnosed with both gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. She also struggled with intense back pain that made it hard for her to get around. She has even said she needed assistance going to the bathroom.

The twins are now happy, healthy four-year-olds who have captured the hearts of the singer's hosts of fans. She is so thankful for her little ones, but has said that after what she endured getting the twins into the world, she will most likely not try for another baby.

14 Kim Kardashian West

Reality TV personality and Instagram Queen Kim Kardashian West is the mom of two precious little tots: daughter, North and son, Saint. She experienced extreme swelling while pregnant with her daughter, North and was skewered in the media for her appearance. Some rude internet trolls even compared her to Shamu after she was photographed wearing a black and white dress.

Her pregnancy struggles didn't stop with ridicule. Near the end of her pregnancy with North, Kim suffered from preeclampsia, a condition that results in high blood pressure during pregnancy and can be very dangerous if left untreated. She also suffered from placenta accreta, a condition in which the placenta grows too deeply into the uterine wall and doesn't detach upon delivery.

After North was delivered, doctors had to remove a part of Kim's placenta by hand, an experience she described as being extremely painful. Her risk of having the condition again with a subsequent pregnancy was high, and she had placenta accreta once again during her second pregnancy with little Saint. Despite these dangerous and potentially deadly complications, Kardashian-West pulled through and is once againg taking selfies like a boss. We're glad she's doing well after these most assuredly scary experiences.

13 Kelly Clarkson

American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson has been open about the fact that morning sickness has taken a toll on her with both of her pregnancies. She has two children: daughter River and son Remington. She also has two stepchildren. Kelly describes her pregnancy nausea as much more than just being a little sick in the morning. She has admitted to vomiting up to 12 times per day and having to get fluids through an IV after not being able to keep anything down.

This affliction has been a part of both of her pregnancies, but her adorable children have helped to smooth out the rough days of puking now in the past.

Morning sickness strikes 70-80% of all pregnant women. The degree of severity varies from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy, but one thing everyone who has experienced it can agree upon is this: pregnancy nausea is MISERABLE. In fact, we wouldn't be surprised if Kelly sang a rendition of "Since You've Been Gone" to her nausea after it finally left the building.

12 Mila Kunis

Actress Mila Kunis is mom to a beautiful baby girl, Wyatt and is expecting a second child this October with husband, Ashton Kutcher. Mila is another celebrity to suffer through morning sickness during the first trimester. Along with the nausea, Mila also deals with fatigue and lack of energy.

Exhaustion is a common side effect of pregnancy that plagues many a mom-to-be. It can be a result of lack of sleep or low iron, or just a side effect of mom's body working over-time to grow a baby while still functioning in every day life. While sleepiness usually subsides after the first trimester, it often rears its ugly head again during the third trimester when a growing belly makes it difficult to get comfortable enough for a full night's sleep. A smashed bladder may be another culprit. Getting up at all hours to use the restroom can quickly take a toll.

Kunis recently starred in the R-rated comedy, Bad Moms, released in the summer of 2016. The movie received mixed reviews, but there is no doubt that Mila is a four-star mom who deserves two thumbs up. Despite the title of her latest flick, Mila is a hands-on mother who loves to spend quality time with her husband and young daughter. Mila and Ashton want their children to be close in age, and can't wait to welcome their new addition.

11 Angie Harmon

Actress Angie Harmon has three beautiful daughters: Finley, Avery and Emery. Her third pregnancy with youngest daughter, Emery really threw the Rizzoli and Isles star for a loop.

Harmon suffered from morning sickness, a well-established woe of pregnancy that is never fun. She was later diagnosed with anemia, which is usually a result of iron deficiency in a pregnant woman. Iron deficiency affects 15-25 percent of all pregnancies. Symptoms can include weakness, dizziness, fatigue, chest pain and trouble concentrating.

To add insult to injury, Angie also tore a disc in her back during her pregnancy from hell. This painful side effect can cause lasting effects and, once a disc is torn, back pain may become a life-long problem. Despite enduring a rough road to get Emery into the world, Angie is now happy, healthy and enjoys spending time with her precious children.

10 Kate Middleton

Kate Middleton is the mother of two adorable children. She has a son, George and a daughter, Charlotte. Kate's official title is Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. She's stately, graceful and oozes class and style. Despite appearing pretty much perfect to us little people, Kate has rough pregnancies to say the least.

Prince William's wife has struggled with Hyperemesis Gravidarum early on in both of her pregnancies. HG is a severe form of morning sickness that effects roughly 200,000 pregnant women around the globe each year.

Kate has been admitted to the hospital with both pregnancies after suffering from dehydration. This has forced her to let the cat out of the bag about her impending arrivals possibly before she was ready, on both occasions. Her royal babies couldn't be cuter, and she's aglow with motherly love now that her two beauties have entered the world.

9 Melissa Joan Hart

Melissa Joan Hart is mom to 3 adorable sones: Tukcer, Mason and Braydon. She has been open about the fact that she hates being pregnant because it makes her feel like crap.

Pregnancy complications need not be life threatening to be annoying. Being pregnant is often dangerous for women who just feel horrible; it puts them at a greater risk of developing depression and anxiety either antepartum (during pregnancy) or postpartum (after baby is born).

Melissa struggles with weight gain while pregnant. This can take a toll on self-esteem and overall health and well-being. She's no longer a teenage witch, but she's magically bounced back after all three pregnancies and has boldly done the carrying-a-baby-in-her-tummy thing three times, despite hating it. Great job, mama!

8 Celine Dion

Singer Celine Dion has three sons: Rene-Charles, and twins sons Neslon and Eddy. She conceived her twins after a long struggle with infertility. She underwent 6 IVF attempts in twelve months and became pregnant at age 42. Her fraternal twin sons came early, but arrived perfectly healthy.

Dion has since shared with the media that she was originally pregnant with triplets, but lost one of the babies early in her pregnancy. This loss was most assuredly painful, but Celine and her family are grateful for the two boy who have blessed their lives.

Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, tragically passed away in January of 2016. She has said that her boys, now aged 15 and 5, have been a source of strength and comfort to her at this difficult time. She is cherishing every day with her children after being reminded of how fragile life can be.

7 Camila Alves

Stunning model Camila Alves McConaughey is the wife of swoon-worthy Matthew McConnaughey and has three beautiful children: sons Levi and Livingston, and daughter, Vida. She breezed through her first two pregnancies, but struggled during and after her third pregnancy with her son, Livingston.

Camila suffered unexplained pain throughout this pregnancy. Despite ultrasounds and careful examinations, medical professionals could not determine a cause. It was decided to deliver Livingston via C-section to try and get to the root of Camila's discomfort.

Alves underwent a C-section where doctors confirmed things were definitely not okay. She has not gone into detail about what they found, but had to undergo additional procedures since her delivery to correct the problems. Due to these complications, Camila faced a much more difficult recovery than she did with her first two pregnancies. She struggled with not being able to be the hands-on mom she is, and hated not being able to hold her little darlings. She has since recovered and is doing alright, alright, alright.

6 Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson has two beautiful boys, Ryder and Bingham. When pregnant with Ryder, she was 24 and didn't experience any real rough patches. Her pregnancy with second son, Bingham was a different story.

She has said she suffered from horrible acne and had trouble resisting packing on the pounds. After baby Bingham arrived, she experienced extreme hair loss and struggled to lose the baby weight. It can be down-right frustrating for a new mom to experience unsavory side effects while also being exhausted and overwhelmed with the responsibility of having a baby.

Kate has said it can be rough to bounce back. We know a few women who would most definitely agree with her. It is not likely she'll be making a movie entitled How to Lose the Baby Weight In 10 Days anytime soon. Hudson is as gorgeous as ever and has proved that even though pregnancy and recovery isn't always easy peasy; it's totally worth it.

5 Tori Spelling

Actress and Reality TV star Tori Spelling has four children: Liam, Stella, Hattie and Finn. During Spelling's fourth pregnancy with son, Finn, she developed placenta previa, a condition in which the placenta either partially or fully covers the cervix.

Tori was in the hospital for 10 weeks and spent four months on bed rest. She conceived Finn only one month after giving birth to daughter, Hattie. This, combined with the fact that she had undergone three previous C-sections, could have been the cause of Tori developing placenta previa.

Finn was safely delivered via C-section to the relief of everyone in the family. Tori survived 9 massive bleeds during the course of her pregnancy and had to have emergency surgery three weeks after Finn's  delivery when her C-section wound reopened.  Tori has explained that she shares a unique bond with her son after all they went through together.

4 Mira Sorvino

Actress Mira Sorvino struggled though some terrifying days while pregnant with her third baby, Holden. She is also mom to two daughters, Mattea and Lucia and another son, Johny. Mira experienced a rare and potentially life threatening condition while carrying Holden known as placenta previa, a complication in which the placenta attaches too low in the uterus, either partially or completely blocking the cervix.

Up to 1 in 3 women develop placenta previa early in pregnancy, but the condition often resolves itself as the placenta grows and moves higher up in the uterus. Sorvino's placenta remained over her cervix, and she spent months on bed rest and weeks in the hospital. Due to the lack of movement during bed rest, Mira also developed a blood clot, which put her at risk for pulmonary embolism.

Holden arrived safe, sound, handsome and healthy after a frightening delivery. The epidural didn't work properly and, although Sorvino's placenta had moved away from the cervix, she began losing a lot of blood. Thankfully, things turned around and the baby boy arrived without the need of a C-section.

3 Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek is a gorgeous mama who struggled with weight gain and gestational diabetes during her pregnancy with daughter, Valentina. She was 40 when she got pregnant and was so grateful for the opportunity to be a mom, as she wasn't sure it was a possibility at her age.

Gestational diabetes strikes approximately 7 out of every 100 women. The risk for this condition goes up slightly after a woman reaches the age of 35. Complications resulting from gestational diabetes include an increased risk of Cesarean delivery and a the baby being stillborn. Women with this condition are also at a higher risk of developing preeclampsia and are 50% more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes later in life.

Gestational diabetes is often treated with diet and exercise alone. If an expectant mother is diagnosed and controls her blood glucose levels, there is no reason she won't give birth to a healthy baby. Sometimes medication is needed to help mom keep her blood sugars from getting too high. Hayek delivered Valentina without complications.

2 Adriana Lima

Model Adriana Lima has two lovely daughters: Valentina and Sienna. Lima suffered from preeclampsia during her first pregnancy and spent two weeks on bed rest. It was a frightening time for her as she didn't know what to expect or if her little one would be alright.

She delivered her baby girl, Valentina at 34 weeks. The baby only weighed 4.4 pounds at birth. Despite her tiny size in the beginning, Valentina pulled through. She has since flourished into a beautiful little girl full of energy and spunk.

Preeclampsia is often to blame for causing a pregnancy to be cut short. Symptoms of this condition include headache, nausea, blurred vision, swelling of hands and feet and weight gain. High blood pressure is often a tell-tale sign of the condition, as is excess protien in the urine of a mother-to-be. While preeclampsia is scary, if caught early, mom and baby will most likely be just fine. The mother will be monitored and baby will be delivered as soon as medical professionals decide it is no longer safe. This was the case with Adriana and her precious little angel.

1 Gwyneth Paltrow

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow is the mother of two beautiful children. She has a daughter named Apple and a son named Moses. In 2013, she spoke out for the first time about suffering the miscarriage of her third child and nearly dying. She did not go into details, but admitted she misses the child she lost and at times still yearns for another baby.

Miscarriages end 15-20 percent of all pregnancies, and 80 percent of miscarriages happen during the first trimester. This means they often occur before an expecting mom has shared the news of her baby-on-board with anyone other than a choice few. Many women suffer through this agonizing ordeal in silence, as it's either too painful or too personal to discuss.

Women should know there are others who understand what they are going through. 1 in every 4 women will suffer a miscarriage at some point. This means ladies sharing a row at the movie theater or next to each other in line at the grocery store have quite possibly both experienced this painful loss. Although miscarriages are horrific to go through, it may be comforting to realize those who have endured this experience are not alone.
