We all know how hard motherhood can be at times, especially the early stages when we're sleep deprived and running only on caffeine. We try our best and muddle through till they get a bit more independent but our job is never done. Even after they've grown and flown the coop, we're still their mothers and our babies are never far from our thoughts. We always want what's best for our children. The best clothes and shoes, toys, books, education, food, careers and everything else that fills life and makes up the cornerstones and in-between-stones of living. They're our own flesh and blood, why shouldn't they have the best of everything?

But if we thought motherhood was stressful as lowly SAHM's and soccer moms, we are obviously not celebrity moms. Celebrities spend their entire time in front of the cameras (filming or taking pictures or running from paparazzi) and thus every aspect of their lives is under scrutiny — especially their parenting styles and their children. Every parenting decision is over analyzed and criticized to the point where some people can't even remember what the original decision was. And pictures of their children end up all over the web, whether the parents want that to happen or not.

Some of these children grow up sharing the spotlight and can either thrive under it or whither and melt away. They're exposed to the shiny glittery side that we see of Hollywood as well as the dark gritty side and still somehow manage to appear neatly dressed. A celebrity mother has her hands full. Some are better than others at balancing motherhood and fame so here are some comparisons.

15 Jessica Simpson Vs. Madonna

In our first round, we have Jessica Simpson in one corner and Madonna in the other. Simpson is a 38-year-old singer, songwriter and fashion designer who has been in the spotlight since she was 16 and has two children, a daughter, and a son. Simpson says motherhood is the best thing that has ever happened to her and tries to spend as much time as possible with her babies and husband when she's not working.

Meanwhile, Madonna is a 60-year- old singer, songwriter, actress, and businesswoman with a thing for fashion. Madonna has six children, four of whom were adopted. Her older biological children claim she is controlling and have fled the home — Lourdes to college and Rocco to the custody of his biological father in England.

While both of these have similarities, they're raising their respective children considerably differently with Simpson striving to lead a good example while Madonna drags her children around on her tours and sets an overall poor example for them to follow.

14 Tyra Banks Vs. Britney Spears

Tyra Banks is a 44-year-old television personality, producer, businesswoman, actress, author, former model and occasional singer best known for creating America's Next Top Model. While dating photographer Erik Asla, the couple had a son in 2016 via a surrogate and the birth of her son changed Tyra's life — causing the star to focus a lot of her time and energy on her perfect little world.

Britney Spears is a 36-year-old singer, songwriter, actress, and dancer who has led a checkered substance-filled past. Since giving birth to two sons in 2005 and 2006, Britney received considerable media attention for her poor parenting choices. She toted her children around like fashionable accessories, continued to abuse drugs and alcohol, was seen driving with one son on her lap and dropped another baby on his head, fracturing his skull. She lost custody of her sons and went into rehab. Since then she's calmed down quite a bit and seems to be taking motherhood a bit more seriously.

13 Tori Spelling Vs. Kris Jenner

Tori Spelling is a 44-year-old actress, socialite, television personality and author best known for her made-for-television movies like A Christmas Carol (2003). Rumors flew around that she stole her current husband from his ex-wife when they first met. If so, karma got her back when he later cheated on her. Their marriage survived however and has seen the addition of a fifth baby which has marked a new chapter in their marriage.

Kris Jenner is a 62-year-old television personality who is most famous for pushing her daughter Kim Kardashian into the spotlight. She micromanages her children and exploits them for money and personal gain, going so far as to orchestrate the release of Kim's famous adult tape which launched the family into the spotlight. That's never a good sign of sound parenting and Kris just keeps making poor parenting choices as the cameras roll.

12 Sarah Palin Vs. Farrah Abraham

Both are working moms who put themselves in the spotlight with controversial results. Sarah is the 54-year-old former Governor of Alaska who rose to fame when she ran for Vice President in 2008. She is married with five children — the eldest of whom went on to make her own headlines via a teen pregnancy. She also appeared on her own reality show for a while and has since supported the Tea Party.

Farrah Abraham is the 27-year-old reality television personality who rose to fame on 16 and Pregnant in 2009. Since then she has cart-wheeled into controversy as she scrambles to hold onto her 15 minutes of fame by turning herself into artificially augmented eye candy and sets a very bad example for her daughter to follow. Reality TV can be a slanted view of a star's life but it's their actions off camera that define their parenting and life choices.

11 Natalie Suleman Vs. Kate Gosselin

Natalie Suleman made headlines in 2009 when she gave birth to living octuplets in addition to having six older children at home already. While her choice to have more babies (and her selection of a shady doctor to implant the embryos) has been questioned over the years, Natalie has managed to keep all of her children and single-handedly raise them to the point where they are now. Some of her money making decisions brought on controversy but she did them to keep a roof over her babies' heads and food on the table.

Meanwhile, her reality TV rival Kate Gosselin has twin girls and sextuplets with her ex-husband Jon. The pair gained national interest after their show Jon and Kate Plus 8 aired in 2007. It chronicled the daily ups and downs of raising eight young children while their marriage slowly disintegrated into a divorce. Two years after that, Kate reentered the spotlight alone on Kate Plus 8 and has come under scrutiny in a child abuse investigation. Both women are 43 and have their hands full but one is clearly doing better than the other.

10 Stacy Dash Vs. Dina Lohan

Stacy Dash is a 52-years-old actress and TV show host best known for starring in Clueless. She's led a controversial life and even contemplated an abortion at a particularly low point but the births of her two children seem to have saved her. Her one piece of wise parenting advice is to communicate with her children and be open with them about everything, including the painful chapters of her past. She promotes honesty in the parent-child relationship and this is always a good idea.

Dina Lohan is a 56-year-old television personality who is most famous for being the mother and manager of Lindsey Lohan. Her parenting choices have repeatedly come under fire for exposing Lindsey to drugs at a young age and allowing the child star to party her way in and out of rehab multiple times. The mother-daughter relationship is strained and communication difficult, especially when Dina and her ex-husband Michael fight. They contradict each other's stories to the point where everyone wonders what the real story actually is and how much is lies.

9 Janice Dickinson Vs. Tish Cyrus

Janice Dickinson is a 63-year-old model, photographer, author and talent agent most famous for making the disputable claim of being the first supermodel. She has two children who have hugely impacted her life. During her brush with cancer, they were uppermost in her mind and she does her best to take care of them as any loving mother would. She supports her daughter who is following in her footsteps as a model but on a much more subdued page and encourages her daughter's interest in photography whenever she can.

Tish Cyrus is 51 and most famous for being Miley Cyrus' mom, manager and film producer. Watching the concerning evolution of Miley Cyrus has caused many critics to voice their concern and wonder where the young star's mother is in all this cleavage. While insisting that she is right there supporting Miley, many still insist that her behavior is a reflection on Tish's parenting efforts and claim that she is simply along for the ride, attempting to profit off of Miley for as long as she can.

8 Vanessa Lachey Vs. Kate Moss

Vanessa Lachey is a 37-year-old television personality, beauty queen, fashion model, television host, and actress. She was named Miss Teen USA in 1998 and has three children. She loves being a mother even with all its challenges and balances work with parenting in a smooth flawless way. She does her best with what she has and that's all anyone can ask of any mother — famous or not.

Kate Moss is a 45-year-old model and businesswoman with a very drug-filled past that left huge gaps in the early life of her young daughter Lila. At one point she missed her daughter's third birthday due to being in drug rehab. Since becoming sober, she's calmed down a bit and now just embarrasses her daughter the normal mom amount when they're out and about.

7 Jenny McCarthy Vs. Courtney Love

Jenny McCarthy is a 45-year-old actress, model, television host, screenwriter, author and anti-vaccine activist. She strongly believes that vaccines cause autism and vocally opposes all vaccines. This has many divided over her opinions but a surprising number are backing her up. Her only son Evan was diagnosed with autism at a young age and like any good mom, Jenny dove in and did tons of research. Eventually, she found a healthy way to combat his autism and published her findings in a book.

Courtney Love is a 53-year-old singer, songwriter, actress and visual artist with a very strong has-been vibe. She became so addicted to drugs that she lost custody of her only daughter, Frances. Later on, her relationship with Frances grew so bad that Frances moved out and got a restraining order against her mother, citing domestic abuse as a cause. The two now share a very cold tense relationship.

6 Holly Madison Vs. Joan Crawford

Holly Madison is a 38-year-old model, showgirl, television personality, and bestselling author who is best known for her role in The Girls Next Door. Holly has a daughter named Rainbow and a son named Forest who make up her entire world, along with her husband. Being a mother completes her more than anything else she's done or will do.

Joan Crawford was a dancer, showgirl, and actress beginning in the 1920s but she is best known for the shocking memoir her daughter Christina wrote a year after her death entitled Mommie Dearest. In the book, Christina details the turmoil she had to grow up with and endure from her famous mother that no one knew about. The book was later made into a famous movie. People looked at the sweet picture of Joan Crawford and wondered how she could hide something so dark.

5 Kirstie Alley Vs. Rosie O'Donnell

Kirstie Alley is a 67-year-old actress, comedian, and spokesmodel who is best known for her roles on Wrath of Khan and Cheers. Kirstie and her husband adopted their two children (siblings) after trying to get pregnant naturally failed. After the couple split, they retained joint custody and successfully co-raised their children into adulthood.

Rosie O'Donnell is a 55-year-old comedian, actress, author, and television personality as well as a lesbian rights activist. She is an adoptive and foster mom. She and her eldest daughter Chelsea split after a painful span of time following Rosie's break-up with her wife which ultimately led to her drinking, threatening Chelsea and kicking her out of the house on her 18th birthday. The two fight on social media and don't speak otherwise.

4 Wendy Williams Vs. Brooke Mueller

Wendy Williams is a 53-year-old television host, actress, author, fashion designer and former radio host. She is best known for hosting her Wendy Williams Talk Show since 2008. After suffering multiple miscarriages, including two in the fifth month of pregnancy, which were particularly devastating, Wendy and her husband welcomed their son Kevin and he's been the apple of her eye ever since.

Brooke Mueller is a 40-year-old actress and real estate investor best known for her short marriage to notorious Charlie Sheen. This couple lost custody of their two sons due to drug and alcohol abuse and reports of domestic abuse. After going through rehab and getting her life straightened out, Brooke was given full custody of her children and has been trying her best to be a good mother ever since.

3 Natalie Nunn Vs. Crystal Workman

Natalie Nunn is a 33-year-old television personality figure best known for being a cast-mate on Bad Girls Club in 2009-2010. After getting married to her husband Jacob Payne in 2012, the couple happily announced their first pregnancy only to have it end sadly in a miscarriage. A year later the couple announced the second pregnancy and gave birth to a baby girl in 2016.

Crystal Workman is best known as Ariel Winter's mother and manager till recently. After reports of domestic abuse, Ariel was removed from her family home and placed under the guardianship of her grown elder sister, eventually seeking emancipation from her unfit mother. She received emancipation in May 2015 and hasn't spoken to her mother since, though Crystal keeps trying to make contact through social media.

2 Haylie Duff Vs. Mama June

Haylie Duff is a 32-year-old-actress, singer, songwriter, television host, writer, and fashion designer most famous for being Hilary Duff's older sister. In 2012 she started a blog called Real Girl's Cooking which was later picked up by the Cooking Channel and made into a show. She also published an accompanying cookbook. She and her fiancé gave birth to a daughter named Ryan in 2015 and announced in January 2018 via Instagram that the couple is expecting their second child.

Mama June is best known for her dramatic appearance on the show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and has received heavy criticism due to her very unwise parenting decision to date a known child molester who was in jail for ten years after molesting June's own daughter Anna. No one knows why she continues a relationship with this man but the controversy caused the show to go off the air. Despite that, June has still managed to pop up on the internet in different ways.

1 Pamela Anderson Vs. Mayim Bialik

Pamela Anderson is a 51-year-old actress and model best known for her time on Baywatch. She has two grown boys. She is also a vegan and an animal rights activist. She had natural home births for her boys and put them on a delayed vaccine schedule, partly to appease her mother who had polio as a child and begged Pamela to vaccinate her children and partly to follow her own parenting instincts which made her question just how crucial the vaccines actually are. Likewise, most true vegans don't vaccinate since vaccines contain products from cows, monkeys, etc. So we can understand Pamela's plight.

On the flipside, there's Mayim Bialik. Rumors have circulated for years that Mayim was against vaccines. This was likely due to her praise for more natural parenting methods. That being said, Mayim took to Twitter back in 2015 insisting her kids were vaccinated. What is an even bigger issue for Mayim is her controversial view of circumcision. While no medical organization in the world recommends it and insurance companies now consider it plastic surgery, Mayim circumcised her sons. So much for natural parenting?
