Nothing puts a mom-to-be at the center of the universe quite as a baby shower does. Having your friends and family surrounding you with love and warmth while you get to sit back and relax is a welcome pause towards the end of pregnancy. Just when you are starting to feel big and bloated and like you have been pregnant forever, here is a party all about you and your baby where everyone reminds you how glorious you are and what an amazing thing you are doing, growing a human being inside of you.

Most of us have a shower at home with a couple of naff but fun games and a table full of nibbly bits to ward off the hunger pangs while you open your gifts. Celebrities, however, like to take it a little bit further and you won’t believe what some of these had at their baby showers.

Some are lavish in a quiet, understated, sophisticated way. They have quiet, muted colors, fine crystal and carefully crafted menus created by world renowned chefs. Others are lavish because they are full of personalized trinkets, brand name sponsored goodie bags and professional photographers or filmmakers to record the proceedings to share later with the world. A few are lavish because they are ridiculously over the top.
