Becoming a parent is probably the single most defining moment of any person's life, but becoming a grandparent is right up there as life-changing as well. Parents become grandparents at all different stages in their lives, and it's no more or less exciting whatever age you are when that special moment happens. Most want to have their kids early so they can be young grandparents, while others chose to wait until they were older, sometimes being mistaken for the grandparents of their own kids!

Every person loves to spoil their grand-kids but no one spoils kids quite like celebrities! And while there are lots of older celebrity grandparents out there who love to hang out with their grand-kids, you may be surprised to learn there's a lot of celebs who were grandparents at a young age.

From movie stars to comedians to reality stars, Hollywood has it's very own who's who of young celebrity grandparents who were all young parents themselves. These celeb grandparents are just as hands on with their grand-kids as they were with their own kids, and love being the young grandparents on the block!

Check out these 15 celebrities who became grandparents before they turned 50.

15 Priscilla Presley

Priscilla Presley, a young bride at the age of 22, became a grandmother at the age of 44 when daughter Lisa Marie Presley welcomed her own daughter. Riley Keogh was Presley's first of four grandchildren all by her daughter.

Riley has a brother, Benjamin by Lisa Marie's former husband Danny Keogh, and Presley also has twin daughters Harper and Finley by estranged husband Michael Lockwood.

Presley told The Huffington Post back in 2014 that she loves being a grandmother: "I do so much". "Those little babies are just absolutely a joy. I would rather be with them than go to any movie or on any outing whatsoever. They are the most entertaining little beings. Never a dull moment."

Never a dull moment for sure. Presley confirmed that she had stepped in temporarily to care for her 8-year-old twin granddaughters last year after Lisa Marie filed for divorce from her husband, Michael Lockwood amid allegations stating she found 'disturbing' photos of children on his computer, US Weekly reported.

14 Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg may be one of Hollywood's funniest ladies and possibly the best part of The View, but did you know she was just 34 when she became a grandmother?

Now that's young!

Goldberg had her first daughter Alexandria when she was just 18 years old with her first husband Alvin Martin, and Alexandria became pregnant with Goldberg's first grandchild when she was just 15 years old, welcoming her daughter, Amarah Skye after she turned 16. Goldberg then welcomed grandkids Jerzey in 1995 and grandson Mason in 1999, according to Hello Magazine.

While it's shocking that Goldberg became a grandma at an age many women are becoming first-time mothers, she also became a great grandmother at the tender age of 58 in 2014. Granddaughter Amarah Skye welcomed her own bundle of joy, daughter Charlie Rose, pictured above, officially making Whoopi a great grandma!

13 Kiefer Sutherland

Actor Kiefer Sutherland became a grandfather at the young age of 38 when his stepdaughter, Michelle Kath Sinclair, welcomed her son. Sutherland married Michelle's mother, Camelia, when he was just 21 years old and Michelle was 8 years old, and maintained a relationship with Michelle even after his marriage ended. He and Camelia also welcomed a daughter together, Sarah, who you may recognize as an actor on the hilarious series VEEP.

But it was Michelle, who now has two sons, who made Kiefer a grandpa at such an early age. It doesn't seem like the actor minds though and credits his grandsons with keeping him busy.

He told German TV station Tele 5, "I raised two daughters. You can sit down with little girls and maybe even have a little nap. With my grandsons, there is no way of even thinking about rest. After one hour with them, I am totally finished and I feel like I have earned a medal." I think many grandparents can relate to that feeling!

12 Pierce Brosnan

Pierce Brosnan is another actor who became a grandpa early in life, thanks to his adoptive daughter Charlotte. Charlotte was just three years old when Brosnan began dating her mother, Australian actress Cassandra Harris, whom he eventually married in 1980. Brosnan officially adopted Charlotte and her brother Christopher after their father passed away, and Brosnan always treated them as if they were his own. He and Cassandra, who passed away at the age of 41 from ovarian cancer, also share a son named Sean.

Brosnan was just 44 years old when Charlotte gave birth to daughter Isabelle Sophie.

Charlotte also had a son named Lucas before she too passed away from ovarian cancer at the young age of 42.

Brosnan, who remarried Keely Shay Smith and shares sons Paris and Dylan is now a grandfather of three. Son Sean welcomed daughter Marley May Cassandra in 2015.

11 Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey is one of those celebrities that was a young dad and in turn, a young grandfather! The Canadian actor and comedian welcomed his only child, daughter Jane, when he was just 25 years old. Jane was 22 years old when she and her then husband Alex Santana learned they were expecting a son in 2010.

Jackson Riley Santana was born on February 26, 2010 when Carrey was just 47 years old. He fully embraced grandfatherhood, telling the Inquirer that one of his favourite parts was getting to read his grandson bedtime stories.

He confided to People, "One of the most special moments people can have is [being] with their kids at the end of the day. You read that book together… a slice of heaven to me is that moment when you’re both completely absorbed. I’ve always been good at that because I can be all the characters. I can really animate it so I find that, a lot of times, the kid is looking at me instead of the book. It’s really fun. There’s a lot of things I do for him—for instance, acting like a penguin and stuff.”

10 Mick Jagger

Rock superstar Mick Jagger has eight children of his own, so it's no suprise that he became a grandfather at the age of 50. Jagger's daughter Jade Jagger was the first to give Sir Mick a grandchild with the birth of her daughter Assisi. Jade has three children total while Mick's eldest child, daughter Karis, is a mother of two.

Mick isn't just a grandfather though, he's also a great grandfather.

The Rolling Stones frontman earned the title when granddaughter Assisi welcomed her first child in 2014.

What may be even more surprising is that Mick himself just became a new father for the 8th time at the age of 73 when his son, Devereux Octavian Basil Jagger, was born in December 2016. Sounds like Mick definitely has his hands full!

9 Brett Favre

NFL superstar Brett Favre was the only grandparent actively playing in the NFL when his daughter Brittany gave birth to her first child.

Favre was just 19 when he and his wife Deanna welcomed Brittany so it's not odd that he would become a grandpa at the tender age of just 40 years old. Brittany gave birth to her son, Parker Brett, on April 2, 2010 when she was just 21 years old. Now the hall of famer is a grandfather of three grandsons who has some surprising things to say about the sport that made him famous.

"I'm not going to encourage them to play football. I'm not going to discourage them," Favre told the CBS Sports Pick Six Podcast. "But I say this to everyone who will listen: if my grandsons were to say, and they call me Paw-Paw, if they were to say "Paw-Paw, will you be my caddy in golf, I think I'm going to do golf instead of football," I would be much more happy, satisfied and excited by that than by them playing football."

8 James Brolin

James Brolin is a silver fox now but he was just 47 years old when he first became a grandfather.

James's son, the equally talented and handsome actor Josh Brolin, became a father when he and first wife Alice Adair welcomed their first child when Josh was just 20 years old. The couple had two children together.

Brolin told The Guardian that he loves being a grandfather and wishes he had more time to spend with his grandkids, "When I became a grandfather, my first reaction was, "Don't call me that!" I write it "G-Pa Jim" – but I'm warming up to it after 20 years. I'm as good a grandfather as I was a father, and I could be down there with them three times a week, but they've got their own stuff. I don't think I take them fishing as much as I could."

Sounds like G-Pa Jim was pretty happy to be a young grandpa!

7 NeNe Leakes

NeNe Leakes may still be a Real Housewife of Atlanta, but she's also a grandma, or should we say 'glam-ma'! The reality star became a grandmother at the age of 44 when her son, Bryson and his girlfriend Ashley welcomed their daughter, Bri'asia. NeNe, who was the same age when she had Bryson, 22, that Bryson was when he had his own daughter, told InTouch that Bryson hid the pregnancy from his mother at first, worried she wouldn't approve.

I didn’t feel like he was ready for such a big responsibility,” she said. “I was his age when I had him, so I know how tough it is. I didn’t want him to make the same mistakes that I did. I needed to let it sink in.

Of course NeNe fell in love the minute her granddaughter was born and loves to spend time with her. And what did she think of becoming a grandmother at such a young age?

Forty is the new 30. I’m a sassy, fashion-forward grandma!” Yes she is!

6 Vicki Gunvalson

NeNe Leakes isn't the only Real Housewife to become a grandma before the age of 50!

The OG from the OC, Vicki Gunvalson, proved she was the ultimate 'Nana' when her daughter, Briana Wolfsmith welcomed her first son, Troy, at the age of 24, making Vicki just 50.

Briana and husband Ryan Culberson eloped in Las Vegas and initially Gunvalson wasn't too thrilled at the prospect of being a grandmother, but she quickly changed her mind once Troy arrived. Briana has since welcomed another son, Owen in to her family, and Vicki is smitten with them both.

Nana Vicki loves being a grandma to Briana's two sons and is often sharing pictures of the happy family all together on social media. She may have a lot of issues with her fellow Real Housewives, but Vicki will always have her family.

5 Charlie Sheen

Charlie Sheen was just 47 years old when he became a grandfather. One of Hollywood's most notorious bad boys welcomed daughter Cassandra with high school sweetheart Paula Speert. Cassandra was 28 when she welcomed her first child, daughter Luna, with her husband in 2013.

Sheen joked about his new title on the David Letterman Show when asked about how he felt being a grandpa. "Me as a grandfather, Dave . . . I don't know. It's like the world's going to crack in half," he joked, "It's fabulous. It's just not a title I'm ready to adopt."

He obviously loves being a grandfather though and posts many pictures of Luna on his social media pages. He did joke to Letterman why he thought he'd be a good grandfather saying, "Well, yeah, because you can leave the kid!"

I think that's the ultimate perk of being a grandparent, don't you think?

4 Tamra Judge

Tamra Judge is another Real Housewife to become a Real Grandmother before the age of 50. Tamra was just 46 when she announced her eldest son, Ryan Vieth, would be welcoming a baby with his fiance Sarah Rodriguez.

While Judge was initially hesitant about her son's relationship with Rodriguez, she quickly became excited when she learned she was going to be a grandmother.

"I'm going to be 'Tam-ma," she said during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live. "NeNe has Glam-ma and Vicki has Nana and I'm going to be Tam-ma! I'm so excited!"

And Tam-ma is definitely a proud grandma! The reality star constantly posts pictures of granddaughter Ava on her social media accounts proving the two have a great relationship.

“I’m a grandma! It’s precious and … I feel a little old,” Tamra joked on The RHOC just after Ava was born. “This little baby, she’s a part of me and I feel like my whole life has changed.”

Definitely for the better, too.

3 'Mama' June Shannon

If you thought Whoopi Goldberg was going to be the youngest grandma on this list, you forgot about 'Mama' June Shannon. The reality star who first rose to fame as 'Mama June' in TLC's 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' became a grandmother at the tender age of just 32 years old.

June's eldest daughter Anna “Chickadee” Shannon welcomed “Baby Kaitlyn” during the show's first season, when Anna was just 18 years old. Anna is now the mom to two daughters but is estranged from her mother, amid a lot of family drama.

June, now just 38, became a grandmother for the third time last December when daughter Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Shannon welcomed daughter Ella at the age of 17.

Despite any family drama, Lauryn admitted in a clip for their new reality show, "Mama June: From Not to Hot" that she thought her mom would be an OK grandmother.

"I think mama will be an alright grandma," she admitted. "I mean, she can't really see, but she'll do good."

2 Jim Bob And Michelle Duggar

With a family of 19 children of their own, it's definitely not surprising that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar became grandparents before the age of 50.

The couple was 43 and 44 when eldest son Josh Duggar and wife Anna welcomed their first child and the Duggar's first grandchild back in 2009.

Since then it seems like a faucet that won't turn off! Josh and Anna now have five children, daughter Jill has two sons of her own, Jessa also has two sons, daughter Joy Anna just welcomed her first child and daughter Jinger and son Joseph are also awaiting the arrivals of their first borns.

Being a part of a family that doesn't believe in practicing birth control and accepts as many children as 'the Lord sees fit' means that the Duggars are going to have a lot more grandkids soon!

During a Reddit AMA by someone who claimed to be close to the family, Jim Bob is fixated on how many grandkids he'll have: "Jim Bob is OBSESSED with how many grandchildren they will end up with. He used to be all about how many children he and Michelle would have and seemed very fixated and making it to 20. Now that they are past that point, he has turned that fixation to grandchildren. It's like his life's mission to have 100."

Of course there's no proof that this is actually true, but it certainly doesn't seem like an unrealistic number for the Duggar family!

1 Naomi Judd

Country singer Naomi Judd was just 48 years old when she first became a grandma. Judd became a mom herself when she was just 18 when daughter Wynonna was born, followed by daughter Ashley.

Judd was 48 when Wynonna welcomed her first child, son Elijah, to the family. One year later daughter Grace was born.

Despite some family turmoil that has caused some distance in the family, Judd was very close to her grandchildren when they were growing up. She was present for both Elijah and Grace's c-section births, telling Grand Magazine, "I believe the most terrifying experience in my life thus far was watching Elijah, my first grandchild, being born."

While Wynonna recently announced that son Elijah proposed to his longtime girlfriend, daughter Grace has faced a few more hardships in her life. The 21 year old has been jailed for and faced drug charges in the last year.
