The Duggars are by far one of the most controversial families on reality television right now. And that’s not because they just have 19 kids. It’s because of all the things they’ve said and done that have proven to be quite hypocritical over the years.
Let’s take a moment to talk about one Duggar family member here. Daughter and sister Jessa Duggar loves to show the world just how perfect her marriage and her family is both on and off the small screen. And while there’s no denying that she’s got cute kids, we can only wonder how she manages all that she does in one day.
Well, Jessa recently answered that question for us. And it’s not what you think, either. She shared some behind-the-scenes photos of her incredibly filthy house and we cannot believe our eyes. The girl only has two children yet her house has been flipped upside down.
Now, Jessa’s filthy photos aren’t the only shocking thing we’ve seen from the Duggars recently. There’s plenty of evidence that proves they shouldn’t have been allowed to procreate as much as they have. Yet, the Duggar baby countdown never ends.
Here are 15 reasons why the Duggars should stop getting pregnant immediately. Let us know what you think!
15 Disgusting Bed Sheets
Could you imagine sleeping on bed sheets that look like this? I know what you’re thinking because it’s the same thing I’m think. And the answer is, no way. Yet, Jessa Duggar has been sleeping on these sheets for who knows how long. She captioned her photo with, “Henry's dried spit up on my side of the bed, that I've slept on for who knows how many nights.”
If Jessa is having a hard time cleaning and changing her own bed sheets, we can only imagine how long it takes for her to clean and change her children’s bed sheets, too. No child deserves to sleep in such filth. We get that she’s super busy and that her hands are full right now, but I wouldn’t get a good’s night rest knowing that I might be sleeping on something that my child spit up or worse, vomited.
14 Gross All Around
This has got to be the worst photo. Jessa captioned it with, “Oil splatters and food particles on the stovetop. Probably has been a few months since it's been wiped down.”
Even when I’ve got a lot of stuff going on in my life and I can’t keep up with the housework, I always make sure that my kitchen is clean no matter what. The rest of the house can be upside down but I cannot and will never tolerate a dirty kitchen. It’s just downright gross and disgusting! And if you have kids that you need to feed everyday, you want to make sure that there’s no foreign unidentifiable organisms (or heaven forbid mold) growing next to your stovetop. Plus, I cannot cook a meal unless I know that everything from the night before has been cleaned and put away. You can’t pile one mess on top of another. Someone hand this girl a sponge, hold her baby and let her clean this mess.
13 Overwhelmed With Motherhood
Jessa admitted that her life has been nothing less than chaotic lately. She wrote on Instagram, “A few mins here, spent cuddling a fussy baby. A few mins there, singing lullabies as a toddler drifts off to sleep. 5 mins here, to read a book. 10 min there, engaging in imaginative play. Not trying to pit a clean house against interaction with kids-- sometimes both are possible, though often they do seem in opposition to one another.”
We get it. She has different priorities these days and keeping her house clean is definitely not one of them. But some of her fans can’t help but wonder if she might be a little overwhelmed with motherhood. And just to think, she only has two babies right now. Newsflash for Jessa: it’s only going to get worse. The work is non-stop. The stress never goes away. If she can’t keep up with her laundry now, there’s no way she’ll be able to keep up with it later.
12 Where’s Michelle Duggar?
You’d think that Jessa would have someone in her life to give her a helping hand when she needs it the most. Yet, that doesn’t seem to be the case at all here. With 18 other siblings and a mother who has always been present her entire life, there’s not one person to help her clean her house? We find that extremely hard to believe.
When you have so many people in your family, there’s got to be at least ONE person available to help you get a few things done around the house, run some errands for you, or just help out with free babysitting, right? Where’s Jana? Or Jill? Or Joy-Anna? Someone help a sister out! Jessa is drowning in laundry and dirty diapers yet there’s no one there that can give her a break? What’s going on, Duggars?
11 No Follow Up?
Jessa once gave her man Ben a huge shout out on social media by writing, “Happy 1st Father's Day to my man, @ben_seewald! You're already such a sweet daddy, caring for your preborn baby! You're my #1 cheerleader when it comes to making good food choices, but you also understand when the baby "needs" a late-night bowl of cookies & cream ice cream!”
Ok, so we know that Ben is hands-on and that he helps take care of his wife and their kids. But (and it’s a big BUT) is there anyone following through in their home? With most families, if you make a meal, you’re expected to clean up the kitchen. If you take a shower, you’re expected to put the dirty towels in the hamper. Apparently, someone has missed a very important pick-up-after-yourself life memo here.
10 Princess Syndrome
Of course, no one really knows what is going on behind other people’s closed doors. Reality television stars would like us to think that we are seeing a lot of their “real” world but we know that’s not the case at all. Realty stars like the Duggars are very selective about what they do and don’t want to show the world.
There’s a chance that Jessa is not cleaning up after herself and her family because she might have Princess Syndrome. Sure, no one is going to admit to it, but let’s face it: she was always considered the “prettiest” daughter in the Duggar family. She might expect that someone is going to do the work for her. Yet, now that she’s on her own that’s not the case at all. She might be a princess, but her castle is downright filthy.
9 Even More Kids
Jessa has made it no secret that she is open to having more kids in the future and possibly even adopting a child, too. She said, “We have many friends who have walked this road, so we have seen firsthand the amazing power of adoption. There are so many kids out there who are longing for the love of a family, and we feel strongly about opening our hearts and our home to welcome them in.”
While we can agree that every child deserves a loving home, they also deserve a clean home, too. If Jessa can’t handle the two kids that she has already, we can’t imagine how her house would look like if she had more. There’s only so much one can take when it comes to the smell of dirty diapers. Gross!
8 No Help From Her Husband?
Jessa Duggar once said, “It's important not to build walls or turn away from hard topics. Not like, 'I am going to take my feelings and close off from you and build a little wall there.' The 'I'm-going-to-show-you attitude' really hurts. It's always best to open up and talk about things."
While we can agree with the message she’s sending here, we can’t help but wonder if her husband Ben Seewald is finding it a little harder to hear what he has to say. I mean, the girl can’t be expected to clean the entire house all on her own. Where’s Ben? How come he’s not doing his fair share to clean the house? It takes two to tango and it surely takes more than two people to make a mess of this proportion. Ben, put the PlayStation down, pick up a mop and help your wife for crying out loud.
7 Overworked Her Entire Life
There’s also a very strong possibility that Jessa Duggar is having a hard time keeping up with everything in her life simply because she’s exhausted. And we don’t blame her at all. Ever since she was capable of making a sandwich for herself, she’s been expected to look after all of her other brother and sisters. She lived in a house that was constantly chaotic. She always had chores and responsibility. Jessa never got a break and worse, she never had any privacy all throughout her childhood, too.
Maybe Jessa just has an “eff it” attitude and simply doesn’t care anymore. She’s pretended to be perfect for too long. I mean, there’s only so much you can hide about your real life on social media, right? This might be Jessa’s way of telling her parents and the rest of her family that she’s had it.
6 Under The Rug
The Duggars were mocked, criticized and ridiculed heavily back in 2015 when reports indicated that their son Josh Duggar violated his younger sisters when he was a teen back in 2002 and 2003.
Their solution to the controversy was just to pray about it as a family and send off Josh to a faith-based rehab facility for a couple months, hoping that people would forget about it. In other words, they wanted to sweep their entire mess under the rug. Jim Bob released a statement after the controversy that said, "We pray that as people watch our lives, they see that we are not a perfect family. It is one of the reasons we treasure our faith so much because God's kindness and goodness and forgiveness are extended to us – even though we are so underserving."
5 No Thank You On The Advice
Duggar family matriarch Michelle Duggar likes to think that the rest of the world is just waiting to hear more worldly and wise advice from her. Yet, that’s not the case at all. We are talking about a woman who gave birth to 19 kids… just because she’s never said no to her husband. Say what now?
Michelle Dugger once wrote on her family blog, “Be available, and not just available, but be joyfully available for him. Smile and be willing to say, 'Yes, sweetie, I am here for you,' no matter what, even though you may be exhausted and big pregnant and you may not feel like he feels. 'I'm still here for you, and I'm going to meet that need because I know it's a need for you.'"
4 Higher Standards?
Jill Duggar, who is married to her husband Derick Dillard, once said, “We want to save the physical side of our relationship for our wedding day and not go further than we should. Obviously, you can kiss and not have sex. It's about setting a higher standard so you don't struggle [with temptation]."
Higher standard? What higher standard? This woman is preaching to the world about what you should and shouldn’t do, yet her husband posted a video of him almost running over a cat on Instagram. Jill and Derick, please take a seat. You are not perfect and stop pretending that you are. Yet the Duggar family likes to hide beneath the façade that they are a pure and wholesome family that can do wrong. Sure. I guess you can say that animal cruelty is not a top concern for them.
3 Questionable Safety
Speaking of questionable decisions, a lot of Duggar fans still can’t understand why Jill Duggar and her husband Josh Duggar thought it would be a good idea to take their baby and live in Central America for a good couple of years. If that weren’t enough, Jill was also pregnant when there was heightened concerns over the Zika virus.
Jill and Derick left right after the Josh Duggar scandal broke the news back in 2015. They said that they were temporarily relocating as part of their missionary work. Yet, many fans knew that they just wanted to make a run for it and avoid all of the negative headlines that the Duggar family were making that year because of Josh’s multiple and hugely embarrassing scandals. They could have gone anywhere in the world, yet they went to a country where they could have easily risked their lives and their family’s safety.
2 Quantity Over Quality
There’s a lot of people that believe the Duggars choose to believe that quantity is more important than quality. And yes, Jessa’s disgusting and dirty house photos prove that, too.
Any mother or father that just has two, three or even four kids will tell you that it’s sometimes very hard to give each child the quality time that they need and deserve. Every kid wants to feel special with a little one-on-one time with their parent. But if you grew up as a Duggar, that was almost impossible. For many fans they are surprised to this very day that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have managed to keep the names of their kids straight! And let’s not forget: children are not pets. It’s not acceptable to have seven kids and treat them like seven cats. And no, you shouldn’t make your older children take care of their younger siblings just because you need a helping hand. You are doing nothing more than robbing them of their childhood.
1 Josh And Anna Duggar
The number one reason why the Duggars shouldn’t procreate anymore is because – let’s face it – there’s plenty of them out there as it is. You would think that with all of the problems Josh and Anna Duggar faced in their marriage, they would call it quits on the baby making and focus on trusting one another again. But, nope.
Not only did Anna Duggar welcome her cheating husband Josh with open arms, she gave him another baby to add to their clan, too. Now, we’re not saying that Josh is still going to cheat on her, but we’re not saying that he’s a reformed man, either. Putting a band aid on a HUGE problem doesn’t fix things, either. Someone get this family some birth control and make it STAT, too!
