Many people find celebrities and how they bring up their kids fascinating, but the majority don't like to say so. Many can admit though, that they sneakily get their fix of the Daily Mail online when nobody else is in the house.

I especially love reading reports on what celebs have been treating their lids to. The opulence is so far removed from what I've ever experienced in my own life, that it naturally draws me in.

Researching this piece led me to learn about Celebrity Worship Syndrome (CWS) - an obsessive addictive disorder where someone becomes obsessed with a celebrity, their life and personal details. We all probably know one person with CWS.

When I was little, I used to dream about what it would be like to be the kid of someone famous. I imagined I'd be able to choose whatever I wanted from Toys R Us. But growing up poor had its advantages. It led me to appreciate everything, and I can't help but wonder where many of these celeb kids are going to end up in the long run.

What's so bloody ridiculous about lots of the things celebs do for their kids is that most of the time, their kids won't know - or even care. They won't be able to tell if it's a pacifier studded with diamonds or a $2.99 one from WalMart.

The next 15 ridiculous things you're going to read about will shed light on the mystifying world of celebs and their offspring.

15 Kim And Kanye Spent $74,000 On North West's 1st Christmas

Who better to start off this list than Kim, Kanye and little North West. North regularly tops the lists as one of the most spoilt kids in the world, despite the fact Kim said she wouldn't spoil her daughter - ha! For her first Christmas, Kimye reportedly spent $74,000 on presents. Naturally, Kim took to Instagram to show them off.

Now, bear in mind what a six month old baby can do - not a whole lot more than gurn cutely and creep forward and backwards on their belly - Kimye bought their little one a diamond tiara for $62,000 so that 'when she plays dress-up she'll be a real princess.' She also got a toy mini SUV, a replica of Kanye's own, for £12,000.

Little North was also showered with gifts from Giuseppe Zanotti, Stella McCartney, Charlotte Olympia, Michael Coste and Hermès Paris.

14 Katie Price Bought Her 16 Month Old Son A Bentley

I can remember always wanting a Little Tykes Cozy Coupes car when I was little. You know the one. It was made out of the sturdiest red and yellow plastic imaginable, and was literally impossible for toddlers and per-schoolers to destroy. But we could never afford one, and always needed to visit my (wealthier) cousins house to play in theirs.

Not many children are able to say 'I got a Bentley for Christmas!' But Katie Price's son Jet Riviera Hayler is one of the few. While it's not a real car, the ride-on Bentley is an exact replica of his mom's. Price said 'Jet has something in common with me...we have the same car!' It would be just Price's luck if Jett preferred to climb trees.

The mom of 5 revealed that she used to go crazy at Christmas and that her kids would actually get bored of opening presents.

13 Tom Cruise Picked Suri Up In A Private Jet

When you are the daughter of Tom Cruise, the only way you're going to travel overseas is by private jet, and not just any private jet, but a Gulfstream IV, a plane primarily used by the United States Air Force and the United States Army.

While Katie Holmes - who has primary custody of Suri - wants her daughter to live a relatively ordinary life (not going to happen Katie) Tom has totally different ideas. The actor was in London and missing his little girl, so he sent his jet to New York to pick her up so they could have a week of quality time together.

If you thought a private jet was something...in 2012 when the couple split, Tom splashed out on a mansion in New York for his six year old daughter so she would have somewhere to store the presents he'd bought her over the years.

12 Jay-Z And Beyonce Spent $200,000 On Blue Ivy's Birthday

Combined, Jay-Z and Beyonce have a worth of $875 million, so it shouldn't be surprising that they parted ways with $200,000 on their daughter's fairy themed first birthday party. BUT STILL, that's a shit ton of money, never mind the fact that she's not actually going to remember any of it.

Apparently $80,000 was spent on a diamond encrusted Barbie doll.  (Please, someone tell me, why you would you put diamonds on a freaking Barbie doll for a one year old?) $95,000 was spent on pink and white roses. $30,000 on costumes, jewellery and toys for the one year old's friends and their parents - including engraved gold pens, because everybody needs one of those, right?

I was expecting them to spend more that the reported $2,400 for her cake, I have to admit. A source said Beyonce and Jay-Z “wanted her first birthday to set the tone for the rest of her life.”

11 Jennifer Lopez Gave Her Twins Their Own Wing

While Jennifer Lopez might have hailed from the block, her kids most certainly have not. Her twins Emme and Max have had, from the moment they were born back in 2008, an entire wing in J-Lo's and Marc Anthony's house all for themselves. When I was growing up, the only space I had to call my own was the top bunk of a bunk bed.

The twin cribs were equipped with 600-thread-count Egyptian cotton linens - apparently the more threads you can cram in, the more luxurious the linen - and their rattles were diamond encrusted. Surely a diamond encrusted rattle is a bad idea? What about when they started teething and wanted to chew on that thing? Max and Emme also had a masseuse and a colour therapist on call. J-Lo is quoted as saying that she wanted to give them the start in life that she never had.

10 The Beckhams Gave Their Kids A $50,000 Treehouse

I spent a lot of time in trees as a kid. Mostly because I was too afraid to come down. Going up was never the hard bit, it was getting my feet back on the floor that would scare the crap out of me. My siblings and I never had a treehouse when I was growing up. We just had to use our imaginations and pretend that we did. But it's possible to imagine up anything when you're little.

The Beckham kids will never have to imagine they have a treehouse (there's something a bit sad about this...) because their parents parted ways with $50,000 for a designer one crafted out of Scandinavian redwood for their home 'Beckingham Palace.'

The two storey tree house is reportedly big enough for a family of four, and was actually at the risk of being torn down because it could potentially be lived in.

9 Tyrese Gibson Bought His Daughter An Island

Rollerblades, a pair of Spice Girl inspired platform shoes and a CD player were three of the most lavish Christmas presents I ever received as a kid. Just imagine can you, just imagine your Dad saying 'Happy Christmas honey, I bought you an island.'

We can only speculate how Grammy-nominated singer and model Tyrese Gibson and his ex-wife Norma Gibson announced to their 8 year old daughter Shayla that she had an island all of her own. Reportedly called 'Love Island,' Tyrese has not disclosed the location, and it was only revealed that he had purchased the private island when he was asked what was the most lavish gift he had ever given or received.

Shayla co-authored a series of books with her Dad about bullying, faith, sharing and being courteous and nice.' So perhaps Love Island would work well as a writer's getaway when she's older.

8 Sandra Bullock Used A $2,220 Louis Vuitton Diaper Bag

I don't think my mother had a special bag specifically for diapers when my siblings and I were in them. I reckon she just grabbed anything with handles, and enough space for a wad of the things and a pot of diaper cream.

Sandra Bullock being Sandra Bullock couldn't, for the love of God, do anything like that. In the world of celebrity, things look different, and needing to lug around diapers needn't be anything but a classy affair. Whenever Sandra took her adopted baby Louis out and about, they were accompanied by a $2,220 personalised Louis Vuitton Diaper Bag.

The pretentious bag is crafted in Italy and has a grained calf leather trim, a washable monogram-embroidered mat, golden brass hardware, flat leather handles with adjustable buckles,  a  dangling address holder that can be hot stamped with baby’s or mother’s initials, protective metal feet and a ridiculous amount of other features.

7 Salma Hayek Spent $12 Million On A House For Her Daughter

Even as I am writing this, I am still struggling to process the fact that a eight year old child was given a $12 million dollar house. The Los Angeles estate, which is in little Valentina's name, was bought by her mother Salma Hayek - renowned for being one of the most beautiful women in the world - and her father François-Henri Pinault, CEO of luxury goods company Kering who has a net worth of over 15 billion.

What's so bloody ridiculous about this is that there's nobody at home, but taxes for the place cost $50,000 annually. Okay, so this will be a small drop in the ocean for dad, but still. At just eight years old, Valentina - who can already speak three languages - is swanning around at art galas in Italy, working the red carpet and taking vacations on exclusive French speaking Caribbean islands.

6 David Arquette Bought His Daughter A Diamond Ring

The rings I was given as a child were usually Haribo and would last about 30 seconds on my fingers before I munched them off. Or, if I was especially lucky and it was a special occasion, I would get a mood ring. Remember, those rings that would change colour based on the temperature of your finger? I still think they're pretty cool and I'm closing in on 31.

I very much doubt that David Arquette's 10 year old daughter Coco Riley had ever had the joy of eating a Haribo ring off her finger, or watching a mood ring change colour with her body temperature. Nope. Instead David's adored firstborn was given an $11,500 stacked diamond-encrusted ring which, while being dazzling and having a 'very dainty and delicate feel' doesn't do that much good stuff for a ten year old.

5 Christina Aguilera Spent $35,000 On A Nursery

Even just to have a nursery of one's own is something very special, but to have a design firm take four months to create one at a cost of $35,000 is pretty darn extravagant.

When pop diva Christina Auguilera was expecting her first child Max way back in 2008, no expense was spared and she went all out on creating an A list baby nursery that would make jaws drop.

One of the features that I'm repeatedly freaked out about with this nursery is the God awful 11 foot tall crescent moon that Christina bought back from her 'Back to Basics' tour where it was used as a background prop. While I admire the artwork of Salvador Dali, having a moon that looks like it's fallen out of one of his paintings doesn't, in my opinion, really work all that fantastically well in a newborn's nursery.

4 Mariah Carey's Twins Had Diamond Studded Diaper Pins

I was born in 1986 a time when terry toweling diapers were still commonly used. (If you're too young to remember, they were reusable diapers made out of terrycloth.) I'm still able to visualize the stacks of them that my mother had stashed away. Thankfully, I don't remember what the washing pile looked like at the end of the day.

I can also remember the huge nappy pins my mother would use to keep the diapers held up. There was nothing special about them. They did the job. So, I nearly spat out my tea when I read about the diva of divas Mariah Carey using diamond encrusted diaper pins for her twins.

But they don't only have diamonds on their diapers. Naturally. Mariah also bought each twin loose diamonds that have been put into a vault where they will stay until the twins are old enough to appreciate them.

3 Elton John Renovated An Apartment Into A Nursery

I was so bloody happy when Elton John and his partner David Furnish met their little boy Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John - who was born to a surrogate mother - for the first time in 2010. No matter what Elton John does where money is concerned I'm like 'ahhh, it's Elton. It's cool.' So when I learned about him gifting his first son with his very own apartment in 2011 I didn't batter an eyelid, despite the ridiculousness of it.

The legendary singer and his partner Canadian-born filmmaker, David Furnish reportedly commissioned a top Hollywood designer to transform the apartment adjoining their LA home into a luxury nursery. A source said 'It seems a slightly odd arrangement when you have waited so long to have a child. It certainly gives a new answer to the question: what do you give the baby who has everything? His own flat, of course.'

2 Brad Pitt Bought Diamond And Platinum Necklaces

When you are three years old you want to pick up stones from the sidewalk and take them home to look after. A toilet roll that's painted green and given pencilled in teeth becomes a scary crocodile you want to take everywhere. Three year old kids don't need diamond jewellery made from diamonds and platinum. They don't need to be 'all blinged up.' They just want to be outside picking up pet stones and putting their toilet roll crocodile in puddles.

I have to say it came as something of a surprise to learn that Brad Pitt bought two diamond and platinum necklaces for Shiloh's third birthday. I thought he of all celebs would have been tuned in to what kids need and what they don't need. The necklaces - and why on earth did she need two of them? - come from famed jeweler Neil Lane and are worth around $15,000.

1 Gwyneth Paltrow Swore Her Kids Off Junk Food

When I was seven years old, my family and I went to McDonalds for my birthday. It had been talked about for weeks, and when we were finally sat down on the little toadstool chairs, waiting for our Happy Meals, it felt like the best day ever.

While I don't eat at Mc Donald's anymore, I can't help but feel sorry for Gwyneth Paltrow's kids, Apple and Moses who have to follow their mom's low carb, no sugar, no dairy no wheat, no shellfish, no meat and absolutely NO processed foods diet. Which means that the occasional fast food treat is strictly forbidden.

I can't quote much Gwyneth, I find her too irritating to pay much attention, but I do remember her saying 'I would rather die than let my kid eat cup-a-soup.' I have to wonder how she approached the situation where her kids inevitably asked to go to McDonalds.
