15Sugar Is NOT Good

Contrary to what was taught to the previous generation of children, sugar is not good for a child’s health. When we say sugar, we mean ‘free’ sugars. This is the sugar that is added to candy and cake and fruit juices (yes there is artificial sugar in fruit juice). Sugar

found in fruits, vegetables, and milk is not ‘artificial’ and as such it is safe.

So as much as we were told that the brain needs sugar to function, it does not mean we should pump ourselves full of artificial substances. If there must be sugar in a child’s diet, it should be at most 5 teaspoons a day and children should not have sugar treats as a norm. It quickly becomes their cocaine.

Foods that are high in free sugars are low in vitamins and minerals and may deny a child what they need to develop properly.
