Ah, Hollywood. A land where people go to make it big and live their dreams. A place where the heels are high, the chests are often implanted with silicone and the noses are rarely original. Also, a place where the beautiful-est of people procreate. Yep, stars: they're just like us. Well, sort of.

While famous folks do in fact get pregnant and bear children, the experience they have during and after delivery may be a bit more, shall we say, extravagant than the way most women experience having kids.

Celebrities have a knack for making everything in life just a bit more sparkly and a little more full of pizzazz. Instead of just having a baby, taking it home, throwing on some baggy sweats and rocking smudged mascara for a few months or years, some celebrities have the audacity to be wearing underwear in front of millions and such not long after giving birth. It's annoying. Others use ultra-hip techniques or insanely difficult exercise regimens to  help them bounce back. Some chart toppers and Oscar winners start in on over-the-top behavior just moments after Baby's arrival.

Let's just call it like it is: celebrities are able to somehow turn the messy and stressful business of having a new baby into a glamorous experience. We may envy them just a little for their ability to be all glitzy during the newborn stage while most of us struggle just to wear pants, but we're sure they have their challenges just like everyone else.

At least regular new moms don't have to worry about a creepy paparazzi hiding in their bushes in the hopes of snapping a pic of their bundles of joy. Read on for 15 surprising things celebrities have done after giving birth.

15 Post-baby Boot Camp

Like many other celebrity moms, Halle Berry was ready to rev up the workouts just weeks after giving birth. She had exercised regularly for most of her pregnancy, making bouncing back just a bit easier than it is for others who are either too sick or too uncomfortable to hit the gym while great with child.

She didn't run a marathon on day one, but her workout routine was less-than-easy. According to Berry's personal trainer, Halle eased into her post-baby boot camp. "We started out conservatively, with just some cardio and stretching, five days a week. After a week, we changed it up. No one wants to do the same routine all the time." Braganza continues, "We'd go for hikes, a jog on the beach, or do kickboxing or yoga."

Wow. That's pretty impressive. The constant change-ups to her workouts helped Berry to be red carpet ready in just a little over three months after giving birth. She also ate small meals regularly and made sure to fill up on healthy veggies and hearty soups.

14 Belly Binding

Halle Berry's trainer, Ramona Braganza is also responsible for helping Jessica slim down after her daughter, Honor was born. "Jessica always had water around, she drank about two liters a day," says Braganza. "After nine months of being less active, your abs and back are weak and your cardio's not so good."

Jessica put plenty of sweat and tears into her workouts while bouncing back after her babies, but also turned to an interesting technique known as belly binding to tighten everything back up. Tummy wraps are believed to reduce water retention and assist the uterus in shrinking back to its pre-baby size. Alba wore a corset after the birth of her daughter, Honor and again following the arrival of her second girl, Haven. She says of her experience, "I wore a double corset day and night for three months. It was sweaty, but worth it.”

Other celebrities who wrapped their tummies up tightly after giving birth include Brooke Burke, who has developed her own brand of wrap that she touts as comfortable and effective, and Kourtney Kardashian. All three ladies swear that binding up their bellies is the secret to their taut post-baby bodies.

13 Blast Beautiful Music

Multiple-time Grammy winner, Mariah Carey turned the birth of her twins, Moroccan and Monroe into a red carpet event in more ways than one. The babies arrived on April 30, 2011, she and then-husband Nick Cannon's third wedding anniversary.

It has been reported that the couple arrived at the hospital in a Rolls-Royce Phantom. Bling! Bling! It's also been said that poor Nick was so overwhelmed with his kid's impending arrival, that he wandered into the wrong part of the hospital and had to be escorted to the maternity ward.

After the babies were born, the singer and TV host commemorated the birth by rocking out to Mariah's chart-topping tune "We Belong Together." Nothing says you're happy to have children like reveling in the beauty of your own magical singing voice. The couple has since parted ways, but it's sure the memory they made when their precious babies came into the world will always hold a special place in their famous hearts.

12 Placenta Consumption

Women have many different options when it comes to deciding what should be done with their afterbirths. Some opt to have hospital staff dispose of it, others bury it, and still others, including many celebrities, choose to eat it. Yum!

The way it is consumed is up to Mom. Some have it encapsulated into pills, some blend it into smoothies, and still others have admitted to using it as a topping on their pizza. The benefits of this less-than-appetizing use of baby's source of life while in the womb? Many swear it regulates hormones, increases energy and fights off post-partum depression. Famous ladies who have ingested their placentas include Kim and Kourtney Kardasian, Alicia Silverstone and January Jones.

January confessed to People magazine about the lackluster mother she plays on AMC's Mad Men, "I think my fans make cracks about it, but they don’t actually think I’d bring any of Betty’s parenting into my own life. What’s nice is that the expectations for my parenting is very low, so I can really only exceed the expectations.”

11 Implement High Security Measures

Beyoncé's bundle of joy, Blue Ivy, arrived on January 7, 2012. Knowles and her hubby spared no expense to ensure the baby's arrival was extra special. If the rumors are true, Bey and Jay spent a whopping $1.3 million to secure an entire maternity wing at Manhattan's Lenox Hill Hospital.

The security measures they implemented to ensure their privacy were...extreme, to say the least. It is reported that a father who was attempting to visit his new twins in the NICU was turned away due to all of the hubbub that surrounded little Blue's birth. The hospital denies any of this is true, and claims the couple was just in an exclusive suite, available to anyone for an extra fee.

Whatever the truth, it isn't too far fetched to assume Beyoncé wrote the song, "Sorry" for that poor dad who possibly didn't get to see his babies when he wanted to. The lyrics include this little gem:

"I'm sorry, yeah

Sorry, yeah

Sorry

Yeah I know that I let you down

Is it too late to say I'm sorry now?"

10 NBD, Just A Triathlon

Jen didn't dive back into working out right after her twins, Max and Emme arrived. She stuck to light walking for 4 or 5 months, then decided it was time to get moving. What better way to battle a post-baby bulge than with a triathlon? This event includes a 4 mile run, a half-mile swim and an 18 mile bike race, and Jennifer decided she wanted to compete in one.

JLo's trainer, Gunnar Peterson shared the secret to her success: "The important thing is to keep mixing it up, so your body has to adapt -- and that's when the results happen."

Jen trained hard from 45 minutes to 2 hours, 4 to 6 days a week. Peterson also says that Lopez made sure her babies were the priority despite her intense training schedule. "But it's not like she dropped everything," he said. "She was very hands-on with the babies and needed to fit this in around them."

9 Make Dad Pee In A Bottle

Miranda Kerr had quite the harrowing experience when giving birth to her son, Flynn in January of 2011. She describes the experience as one of the most intense of her life. She told Australia's InStyle, "I actually thought I was going to die at one point and left my body. I was looking down on myself, the pain was so intense.” Flynn weighed 9 pounds, 12 ounces at birth, and Miranda did not get an epidural. Ouch!

Her then-husband, and the father of her child, Orlando Bloom, was there for the entire event. At one point, he really needed to pee, but Miranda couldn't bear the thought of him leaving her side. Reportedly, Orlando relieved himself in a bottle so he wouldn't have to leave his ailing wife. Now that's true love.

Admittedly, this happened during the birth, not after. After Flynn was born, we're guessing they disposed of the bottle full of Orlando's liquid gold in a hygienic manner. We're hoping Bloom was able to use the loo in private the next time he had to wee.

8 Strut The Catwalk

Klum's trainer, David Kirsch, shared the reason for Heidi's desire to get fit quick after giving birth to her son, Henry in 2005: "She was going to be in a bra and panties in front of millions of people!"

Heidi had only two months to get bra-and-panty ready before the annual Victoria's Secret fashion show after her baby's arrival. Kirsch also said of the experience, "Heidi is pear-shaped, so we really zoned in on those areas using low weights and lots of repetitions, doing moves like lunges, squats, and exercises with stability balls."

In addition to all of the aforementioned exercises, Klum also spent lot of time on the rowing machine. Why? "It uses the arms, shoulders, back, core, butt, thighs, calves, heart -- nothing's left untouched," says Kirsch.

All of Heidi's hard work was worth it. She strutted her stuff on the catwalk looking as fabulous as ever. Her exercise project definitely paid off on the runway.

7 Sign Up For Prepackaged Meal Delivery

Tori Spelling wanted a way to drop weight quickly after giving birth to her first-born son, Liam in 2007. She turned to NutriSystem, a meal deliver company, to assist her in her post-baby slim-down. Four meals per day, including breakfast, lunch, dinner and a treat are provided with the program. Customers then add their own fresh vegetables and dairy to the meals. Programs like these make eating healthy during new mommy-hood a lot easier.

"Meals are nutritionally balanced to keep your blood sugar levels steady, and you're eating five times a day, so you're not feeling hungry," shared spokesperson, Delphine Carroll.

Tori also got moving to help her shed the baby weight. According to Carroll, "Tori loved to go for walks with her baby in the stroller." She was back to her post-baby weight in no time and has since given birth to three more lovely little ones: Stella, Finn and Hattie.

6 Keep Quiet

Shhhh! Actress and former model, Kelly Preston participated in a practice known as silent birth while delivering all three of her children with husband, John Travolta. Her kids, Benjamin, Ella Bleu and the late Jett, who passed away in 2009 at the age of 16 all arrived to the sound of silence. This Scientology practice was also reportedly used by Katie Holmes in the birth of her daughter, Suri.

How does it work? Well, basically, there should be as little talking as possible during a woman's entire labor and the baby's delivery. Kelly has shared that Mom is permitted to make natural sounds like grunting and crying, but these should be the only sounds in the room for as much of a baby's delivery as possible.

Preston claims participating in this type of birthing process is the reason for her children's peaceful personalities. We'll take her word, or lack of words, for it.

5 Travel The World

Angelina Jolie is known for combining jet-setting with the delivery of her babies, all of whom she had with the dashing Brad Pitt. Daughter, Shiloh was born in Namibia in 2006, and her twins, Vivienne and Knox arrived at a hospital in Nice, France in 2008.

Brad and Angie traveled to exotic locations for the births of their babies in the hopes of avoiding the media frenzy that has followed them since their love affair began. No such luck. Jolie spent two weeks in the hospital in France following the birth of the twins, and paparazzi camped outside of the medical establishment the entire time.

Sadly, Angelina and Brad have since announced their split. Throughout their courtship and marriage, their children have traveled with them all around the globe. They also have three adopted children, Maddox, Pax and  Zahara. We wish all of these beauties the best in their future endeavors, and mourn the loss of Brangelina.

4 Attend Breastfeeding Class

Tina Fey gave birth to her daughter, Penelope on August 10, 2011. Despite delivering her daughter at the same Manhattan hospital as Beyoncé, her treatment was a little less glamorous than Queen B's. She has said the nurses at Lennox Hill were the best, and she had a great experience, but was not blessed with an entire maternity wing.

In fact, Fey told a story on the Today Show about a breastfeeding class she attended that was less-than posh. "It’s clearly supposed to be a storage closet with a bunch of other mothers, and a nurse grabs one of your breasts and another lady’s and is shoving them in a baby’s mouth.” Sounds like an interesting, if not fun, experience. At least she wasn't alone in there.

Tina is known for her great sense of humor and also joked that her hospital room had an ATM machine in the corner. Cha-ching!

3 Strip Down

Christina Applegate shared on the Ellen show that she wasn't quite prepared for the craziness that ensues after giving birth. She said, "It’s a code with women that you don’t talk about the after part."

Applegate was in labor for 18 hours and ended up giving birth naturally, even though  she had planned for an epidural, because she hated the feeling of being numb.

After her daughter, Sadie Grace, arrived, Applegate tore off her gown and laid her precious little one right on her chest. In the past, she had been self-conscious of her body due to a double mastectomy she went through after being diagnosed with breast cancer.

In the moment, her mommy instinct took over, and she no longer cared what anyone thought. She just wanted to hold her baby close. What a sweet story and what a great mom. She's a shining example of the bravery motherhood brings out in all of us. Good for you, Christina!

2 Dress To The Nines

Rachel Zoe, fashion expert and stylist to the stars, shared the delivery of her son, Skyler with the world when it aired on her reality show, The Rachel Zoe Project. It is said her hospital bag included Chanel and Halston sweaters, and designer stiletto boots with eight-inch heels. Zoe also made sure to apply make-up and brush out her hair after her water broke. Kourtney Kardashian was shown doing the same on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Maybe giving birth on-camera has something to do with this.

Rachel has said of giving birth, "The problem is, it’s such an unglamorous experience that if you feel really unattractive, it makes it so much worse.” She was in labor for 16 hours before welcoming her new baby into the world.

We're sure she looked flawless as she exited the hospital, and that the outfit she selected to bring little Skyler home in was nothing less than perfection.

1 Entertain A Toddler

Alright, so...this is all true. Mayim Bialik and her now ex-husband decided they wanted their first-born, Miles to be present for the birth of their second son, Fred. Their pediatrician was all for it and felt it would be a great experience for the toddler.

They prepared him by showing him videos of live births given to them by their midwife. No Sesame Street for this kid. He's got more important things to view. Bialik opted for a home birth. Reportedly, Miles witnessed the birth of his little brother from the comfort of his high chair while munching on granola.

The Big Bang Theory actress shared with People magazine, "Fortunately it was a very fast labor because I think Miles would’ve been bored if it was longer than the hour and a half it was. He loves it, he still talks about it." Oh, wonderful. We're so glad a good time was had by all and that little Miles isn't scarred for life.
