There’s nothing average about Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt—playfully referred to as Brangelina. These societal icons are seen everywhere—from movies to humanitarian movements. The latest gossip of their lives is plastered on the front of magazines in stores and on homepages of news websites. We couldn’t escape them even if we wanted to—and we definitely don’t! Following this iconic family feeds our need to feel connected to the entertainment world. We live vicariously through their grand adventures and let ourselves feel like we’re a part of their extraordinary family.

The Brangelina family is an extensive clan. With six kids, there’s always something fantastic and exciting happening—it leaves us waiting for the next tidbit of gossip. Oldest to youngest, the Brangelina kids are Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, Pax, Vivienne, and Knox.

A beautiful blend of adopted and biological, we love their big, happy family. Even still, what do we really know about the Brangelina kids? Brad and Angelina are always in the spotlight. We follow their careers and whatever else we’re up to, but we don’t know that much about their six adorable kids. With the kids out of the limelight, we’re not given much information on this amazing family. So, what do we know?

15 A Melting Pot Makes A Tribe

The Brangelina kids are anything but ordinary. This starts with the very fact that they come from all over the world. Their oldest child, Maddox, is a Cambodia native—Angelina adopted him when he was several months old. Their son Pax and their daughter Zahara are also adopted from other countries as well. Pax is a Vietnamese, while Zahara is Ethiopian.

In the true spirit of family, Brangelina kept the traditions and cultures of their three adopted children alive in their household.

It makes for an exquisite melting pot in their household that we absolutely love.

It also creates a welcoming, diverse atmosphere where these six children can learn about one another and be comfortably themselves—it makes them a close-knit tribe. We can imagine how that closeness will get the Brangelina six through all life throws at them.

14 Language Barrier—It’s A Learning Experience

With so many cultures under one roof, it’s no wonder that Brangelina is having every one of their kids learn a new language. Maddox—being an overachiever—chose to learn both Russian and German. Zahara is learning French, and Pax is learning Vietnamese. Meanwhile, Shiloh has picked up Khmai, a language from Cambodia—no doubt a small nod to her big brother’s native culture.

Vivienne has picked up learning Arabic, while Knox has chosen to learn sign language. It’s a wide collection of languages, and we can only imagine the chit-chat going on in that house! With six people speaking six different languages, it has to be an adventure. We can’t imagine the challenges that arise when one kid decides to start practicing at the dinner table instead of speaking English.

13 Music Is Their Life

With Brangelina having been a movie power couple, it only makes sense that we would believe their kids would want to follow in their path. Surprisingly, we’re wrong! Angelina has casually stated that none of their six children has any interest in becoming actors.

We have to say, though, that the Brangelina six are an ambitious lot.

Even the youngest—the twins—have already figured out what they want to do with their lives. That being said, they’re not straying outside the arts department. They all have an interest in being musicians. For the Brangelina six, music is a huge part of their lives, and they want to carry that into their adulthood. From production to performance, each one has found a niche that works for them. We can’t wait to see how each one breaks out into the industry!

12 Dual Citizenship

Brangelina and their lovely six children call Los Angeles, California home. We know that Maddox, Zahara, and Pax were adopted from outside the country and as a result, have acquired dual citizenship because of their parents. However, interestingly enough, none of the Brangelina six were born in the United States. Shiloh—Brad and Angelina’s first biological child—was born in Swakopmund, Namibia.

The city is located in Africa—we had to look it up, too. Their youngest, the twins—Knox and Vivienne—were born in Nice, France. The Brangelina six really are from all over the world. The choice for dual citizenship for the biological children was something Brangelina did on purpose. This small little tidbit of information truly adds to the melting pot diversity that comes together under their roof. We're hopeful that both parents keep this tradition alive even though they're now living apart.

11 Self-Discovery At A Young Age

Childhood is all about learning. For most of us, we guide our little ones through exercises and adventures to help them discover themselves—maybe we enroll them in different sports, arts, etc. Either way, we have a huge hand in it. That’s not the route that Brangelina takes when raising their children.

Their approach is a hands-off one.

It’s not to say they aren’t actively involved in their children’s lives, but rather they let their children dictate how life goes. The Brangelina six are given every opportunity to discover exactly who they are—and Brad and Angelina are excited to find out the identities of their children. It’s a unique approach that we can definitely see the advantages of—it keeps their lives exciting and encourages a unique bond between parents and children.

10 Young Humanitarians

It’s no secret that Angelina is a humanitarian. From her endeavors to better poor countries to helping children in need, she’s open about them to help inspire others. That inspiration isn’t wasted as her own children partake in helping others. Whenever she can, her children join her on her adventures.

However, it’s so much more than that. When Brangelina welcomed Shiloh and then Vivienne and Knox, they sold those fabulous front family photos that we just couldn’t get enough of. Photos of Maddox, Pax, and Zahara were even sold for an extremely lucrative amount. Instead of straight up pocketing the money, Brangelina turned around and used that to help others in the name of their kids. What a fabulous way to instill such morals from their very first day in the family!

9 Life Is Messy Freedom

Parenting styles are always different and we’re a little too prone to judging the way other parents choose to parent. This is true for even Brangelina. The Brangelina six are given the chance to explore their childhood.

They have more freedom than most kids do—and it often is said that it leads to a whole lot of chaos in their home.

Multiple nannies have come out to say it’s just a little too much freedom to give children, and even Brad is known to say he believes they need to be reeled in some of the time. We can imagine that the chaos of six kids is overwhelming. It was rumored to be so much to handle that Brangelina went as far as to hire an individual nanny for each kid—letting them make the most of the nanny’s attention.

8 Geographical Tattoos Of Love

There’s nothing more impressive than the love a mother has for her children. Angelina’s love for her six children is strong and fierce—it makes no difference to her whether they’re adopted or not. In a permanent testament to that love, Angelina decided on a simple yet meaningful tattoo to honor each of her children.

Placed on her left arm, she had the geographical coordinates of where each child was born—or where she adopted them from—tattooed. It’s a beautiful tribute to her extensive tribe of children. We love it. It’s also become a point of interest as we’ve found there’s a seventh set of coordinates added over time. We can’t help but wonder if there will be more children added in the Brangelina tribe. Even with the pair splitting up, there's no telling what will come of their futures. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next!

7 A Family Gets Married

Six kids and nine years later, Brangelina decided to tie the knot in 2014. The major event became a familial affair as Brangelina decided to incorporate their children as major players in their special day.

Leading the way, Zahara and Vivienne preceded the start of the ceremony dressed in white as the flower girls. Following them, Shiloh and Knox looked dapper as ever in black and white as the ring bearers. Bringing up the final part of the procession, Maddox and Pax gracefully took on their role of walking their parents down the aisle.

It’s something we wished we could’ve been a part of. The family affair was kept private as they chose to vacation and get married in France. Adding to the event, Angelina had the Brangelina six decorate her wedding dress however they wanted. How perfect! Too bad it didn't last!

6 Maddox—The Budding Movie Buff

The oldest of the Brangelina six is Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt. Born August 5, 2001, in Cambodia, he was initially adopted by Angelina and her ex—but Brad later adopted Maddox as his own. Brangelina describes Maddox—also fondly known as Mad—to be a professional big brother.

He brings the Zen to the chaotic group, always having a real sense of calm about him.

Much like his parents, he’s a budding movie buff with his first on-screen cameo being in his dad’s movie, World War Z. Since then, he’s found his stride behind scenes. His directorial and production debut began when he worked on a film with his mother. The movie took on a documentary-style look at Cambodia and sparked his interest in the movie industry. We can certainly expect to see more of him in the future!

5 Pax—Hiding From The Limelight

Born November 29, 2003, Brangelina’s second oldest is Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt. While he’s the second oldest, he was the third child Brangelina adopted—having adopted him when he was three years old. Although he goes by Pax now—a name picked out by Angelina’s mother—his birth name was Pham Quang Sang. When he was three, Angelina adopted him from the Tam Binh orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Partnering up with his younger sister Shiloh, he’s known to be quite the little daredevil. He and Shiloh get into so much trouble that Angelina actually jokes that the two of them are payback for how she was as a child to her own mother. We can imagine how much of a dynamic duo Pax and Shiloh really are. He found he has a love for music—including deejaying.

4 Zahara—The Budding Voice Actress

The second child that Brangelina adopted is Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt. Ethiopian native-born Teena Adam—Zahara was born January 8, 2005, and subsequently adopted six months later.

Her story was the most tragic of the three children Brangelina adopted—a story that would’ve ended fatally by the time she was one if she hadn’t of been adopted.

She was found malnourished and dehydrated with a case of salmonella. With the help of her adoptive parents, she thrived in their care.

Having such an intense start to life fostered a deep maternal instinct in her, and she’s known to be very caring for her siblings. But we’re not fooled by the stories of love and kindness! With the paparazzi, she’s known to have a death stare until they go away!

3 Shiloh—Born On The Inside

The first of Brangelina’s biological children—Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt was born on May 27, 2006, in Africa. A touching story, Shiloh’s name is a tribute to the baby that Angelina’s mother miscarried before she had Angelina. We can’t get enough of how precious and personal that is! Growing up as a tomboy,

it was no surprise when Shiloh announced to her family that she wasn’t, in fact, Shiloh—she is John and she is a he.

Completely accepting and in awesome Dad fashion, Brad rushed right out and bought over $10,000 in boy’s clothing for John. John is known to take heavily after his mother and has found a deep love for helping others. Recently, John went with his mother out of the country on his very first humanitarian trip.

2 Vivienne—It’s All About The Pink

One of the twins, Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt was born on July 12, 2008, in Nice, France. While her first name simply came to Brangelina, she was given her maternal grandmother’s first name as her middle name—a loving tribute to Angelina’s deceased grandmother. She is described as everything her brother isn’t. She’s elegant and delicate with a focus on all things pink—especially having her nails painted pink.

Vivienne—or Vi for short—had her acting career debut very early in life. Where other little girls were terrified of Angelina’s Maleficent costume, Vivienne had absolutely no problem with it. Thus, she made her debut as Princess Aurora alongside her mom—and made a lot of money doing so. She took home $3,000 a week for the role! We’re not surprised considering she’s a complete natural in front of the camera.

1 Knox—Daddy’s Mini-Me

One of the twins, Knox Leon Jolie-Pitt was born on July 12, 2008, in Nice, France. Named after Brad’s grandfather on his mother’s side, Brangelina enjoyed the name as it was a strong French name. Knox is known to be a total mama’s boy—how cute is that? He’s often seen holding onto Angelina’s hand when in public, and we swoon every time.

Despite this, he is his daddy’s mini-me.

Maybe that’s why he sticks close to Angelina! The little boy is known to be a carbon copy of his father right down to the sunglasses. People closest to him describe him as one tough little dude. He loves to play with swords and dinosaurs, causing havoc wherever he goes—and loves to do so with his big brothers if he can.
