Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon has been making headlines since she was born. Who wouldn’t be curious about the first born child to Madonna…a pop star who totally took the world by storm. Madonna’s self proclaimed mini-me is so much like her mom it’s scary! Though her mom’s love for the spotlight didn’t seem to rub off on her. Lola’s beauty isn’t the only thing she has going for her. She’s also incredibly smart and talented too. What Lola (Lourdes) has accomplished in her 21 years so far, has surpassed what many of us have done in a lifetime!

15 She's Sporting A Bit Of "Fur" Like Her Mom
Lourdes is her mother’s daughter. She can cause a stir with one seemingly casual photo of herself on the beach, or with her mom on Mother’s Day. It isn’t her clothes this time that made headlines, but her hair. More specifically, her armpit hair! She doesn’t shave, or at least goes in spurts of not shaving. Like Madonna’s infamous photo showing off her own unshaved pits, Lourdes had critics going bonkers for her lack of effort in the hygiene department. This remains a point of contention in that should women be bullied into shaving every last crevice of their bodies until they look like no hair grows anywhere but their heads? Or is this just her own personal opinion on body hair that should just be left to her to decide what she does or doesn’t do with her razor in the shower? As they say…to each his (her) own.
14 She’s A Model
In 2016 Lola agreed to model for Madonna’s friend Stella McCartney. Usually shying away from the cameras, she decided this was one gig she could do because she loved the message behind it. Though it’s just a perfume ad, she is all about promoting the message they are selling…self acceptance and mutual support. Something that is very unpopular in a society obsessed with social media and the next hot thing. Madonna was a very proud mama, taking to Instagram to show-off her beautiful daughters lilac locks for the shoot. Posting another photo of the shoot shortly after, she captioned it with talking about how free spirited and yet has her feet firmly planted on the ground. Despite her very famous mom, and abnormal childhood, she has remained true to herself. Madonna and Lola have so much in common. Being true to self and expressing their individuality with clothes, style and sometimes outrageously unique costumes, are just a few ways this mom-daughter pair have very much in common.
13 She Dated Timothee Chalamet
Lola or Lourdes, whatever you want to call her, dated actor Timothee Chalamet. You may know him from his role in Homeland, or as Daniel in Hot Summer Nights, or Elio in Call Me by Your Name. The pair met at school of all places. Both Lola and Timothee attended LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. Rumors began circulating about the romance in 2013. Though the love affair didn’t last too long, they are still friends. He even blushed when being interviewed about the pair. They supposedly broke-up soon after a photo surfaced of him making out with some other girl. A talented couple they performed together in their school musical. Timothee appears to be a shy guy when it comes to dishing on relationships. He didn’t want to talk at all about his past relationship with Lola and even made mention to Andy Cohen that he really doesn’t like to talk about this kind of thing and wanted to move on to his acting career instead.
12 She Helped Madonna Write A Book Series When She Was Only 6
Madonna came out with a series of books entitled The English Roses. The series is a tale about four little girls (The English Roses) who dislike a fifth girl because the are jealous of her. A fairy godmother appears in the series and offers for the girls to switch places with the girl they dislike. It’s like a Cinderella story, with a moral lesson. Madonna says the Lola was her inspiration, critic and first audience for the book. Lola helped her mom with the writing of a book series. Not too many elementary aged kids can say that. Madonna was inspired by her own life growing up and the jealousies kids feel towards one another. She wrote the tale about five 11 year old girls, and at the time Lola was about half that age, but she experienced enough as Madonna’s daughter to be of great help to her mom in the creation of the series.
11 Her Dad Is Carlos Leon
Lourdes has a great relationship with her dad Carlos Leon. The former husband to super star Madonna, Carlos is a personal trainer, turned actor. Best known for his roles in The Big Lebowski, The Woodsman and Tricks of a Woman. Carlos gushes when he talks about his daughter Lourdes (Lola). According to her dad she is a healthy eater despite being a 20 something. She is always giving him good advice, like when his jeans are too tight, or style tips for his wardrobe. He’s so proud of his budding model and her role as big sister to her much younger brother born in 2015 to Carlos and his wife Betina Holte (among her other younger siblings). The proud dad has gushed about his daughter’s talents and says she gets it from her mom. He reportedly talks to her every day, and has a very tight relationship with her.
10 Madonna Discovered She Was Pregnant While Filming Evita
While filming Evita in Argentina on a day in March of 1996, Madonna discovered she was pregnant with her first child (Lourdes). This lead role was unlike most acting gigs in that it was very involved. She had to act, sing and dance, which can be tricky with a growing belly. Her and her then boyfriend Carlos Leon were very excited. Forced to tell her production company about the pregnancy in an effort to help her hide her growing belly from the camera, it is apparent in some scenes that her stomach looks vastly different depending on the scene. Despite both loving their daughter deeply, the pair split before Lourdes was even one year old. In 2008 rumors spread that Madonna and Carlos were growing closer as her split from Guy Richie was public. Though those claims were never substantiated and he is happily married now.
9 At 13 She Was Dressing Madonna’s Dancers
Most 13 year old girls do not have the fashion sense to dress themselves well, let alone Madonna’s dancers! But Lourdes is very much her mother’s child, and takes after her in many ways, including fashion sense. No long after, she began partnering with her mom on an 80’s-chic kids’ clothing line called Material Girl. Madonna says she never realized that her hit song would turn into a clothing line that her daughter would design for. But she loves it! The mother daughter pair are very close, and one of Madonna’s greatest accomplishments in life has been teaching her daughter to read. She found that to be particularly invigorating. At 7 Lola helped to write the book series the English Roses, and at 13 she was dressing famous dancers for her mom’s tour. There isn’t much this pop star’s child cannot do.
8 At 14 She Helped Launch Material Girl Beauty
A budding designer and barely a teenager, Lourdes was also helping to launch a beauty line called Material Girl Beauty. She knew that teenaged girls wanted fruity scents, dramatic nail colors, and awesome party dresses. With her knowledge of the market, first hand experience, as well as her inherited fashion sense and business know-how, she helped to launch a huge beauty company. She was in awe of how her line was growing and that was her favorite part of the whole process. Heck, I think we’d all be in awe of watching a line grow! Not too many kids have that kind of entrepreneurial opportunity and the purse strings with which to make it happen. Madonna was undoubtedly over the moon excited for her daughter, and thoroughly proud. Most moms of a 14 year old girls are just happy their daughter made it through the day without an emotional meltdown and lack of girl drama!
7 She Sang Backup Vocals For Madonna In 2012
Lola has many talents. Like her mother she is a jack of all trades. Madonna has acted, sang, launched a fashion line, can dance, and oh yeah she’s adopted a slew of kids from impoverished countries. Her daughter isn’t too far behind her. She was helping to write books at 7, dressing Madonna’s backup dancers at 13, and by 14 she was helping to launch a successful fashion line and beauty products. She can act, and has taken part in many plays, and then in 2012 she sang backup vocals for her pop star mom. She is literally taking on the world one industry at a time. In 1998 Madonna sang “Little Star” a song the then new mom wrote in Lourdes’ honor. Fast forward to 2012 and they are singing Superstar together. Pretty cool how that worked out! Lourdes is only a background singer in the song, but you can hear her vocals blending nicely with her mama’s.
6 Goes To University Of Michigan
Lola is currently a senior at the University of Michigan, the same school her mom attended. Recently turning 21, Madonna took to social media to express her deep love for her baby girl. Visiting with her daughter at school is rough. Madonna’s fame makes leaving the dorm room nearly impossible. It’s embarrassing for Lola. She’s not even allowed to come to the football games because she’s too embarrassed of all the attention they get because of her mom’s fame. She wanted to go to school and be a normal kid. Something she’s sort of accomplished by keeping her mom as “hidden” as possible. While going to school she’s also working on her budding modeling career. Madonna recently told People magazine that she thought it would get easier as the kids get older. But it’s actually harder because they need more guidance than they do as young kids.
5 Her Parents Split When She Was 7 Months Old
Madonna and Carlos Leon were never married. But they were a pair for quite some time. Discovering she was pregnant with her first child while filming Evita in Argentina was quite a shock. But a good surprise. She was determined to be a good mom, something she didn’t have. They were both gushing over the news and so in love with their baby girl. Despite both adoring their daughter (Lourdes) they decided to split when she was only 7 months old. It’s been rumored that they remained friendly to one another, and obviously would be connected for life since they shared a child. Madonna moved on to several beau’s after Carlos, and he has since married and had a son. Madonna and Guy Richie also had a son together, Rocco. 4 She Looks Just Like Her Mom
Madonna is such a pop icon that she requires only one name. She was a rule breaker, and trend setter, and usually thought totally outside the box. Refusing to shave her arm pits, wearing cone bras, she has certainly made headlines in her day. Though she is the mother to 4 children, 2 biological and 2 adopted, her daughter Lourdes is her mini-me no question! Lourdes doesn’t just look like her mom, though she really does! She also has her mom’s business and fashion sense. She seems to love breaking the rules, but unlike her mom doesn’t seem to enjoy the spotlight so much. Madonna is quite proud of her mini-me, and the two seem to work very well together on their various business ventures. It’s no secret that her relationship with her son Rocco is a bit strained, but it seems she and Lola (Lourdes) are 2 peas in a pod.
3 She’s Fluent In French
Beauty isn’t all Lourdes has going for her. She is apparently very smart as well. Attending a school in London Lycee Francais she became fluent in French, though her parents are not. Rocco can also speak French and it’s said that the two carry on conversations at home all the time and Madonna, nor Guy could ever figure out what they were talking about. That’s genius! The kids could have been planning house parties, or discussing literally anything and the parents had no clue. I’ve tried that with pig Latin once, but it didn’t seem to quite work. Though she doesn’t speak the language, Madonna is quite pleased that her children at bilingual. A skill that many would long to have, and is very useful in today’s society. Lourdes speaks English, French and is said to know Spanish. Though it’s not certain if she is fluent or not, the girl sure does know a lot of languages!
2 Her Mom Was Strict
If you’ve ever seen Madonna perform it may seem strange to hear that she is a strict mother, but it is totally true. Self-declared strict mom, Madonna likes rules and order and does not want her children growing up spoiled brats. With her desire to have her children appreciate life and follow rules has made her the strict parent, and Guy seems to be more laid back. This may be the reason that her son Rocco has decided to spend his time with his dad, and not his mom. According to numerous reports, Madonna’s children have been rebelling against her strict ways. Though everything you read about Lourdes and her mom is positive and they have a good relationship, it seems that her other 3 children don’t appreciate her strict rules and demanding parenting style. Losing her own mother to breast cancer at only 5 years old has probably played a role in her not overbearing style.
1 She Has Tattoos In Honor Of Her Mom
Lola’s relationship with her mom is well known. She has a great relationship despite being a 21 year old with a mom who still wears fishnets and cone bras on occasion. In honor of her mom, she has tattooed the word mom to her fingers. Her adoptive sister Mercy is also tattooed on her inner arm. A very permanent and public way to display her love for both of them. I wonder if she likes that mom can be wow upside down, or if she really just wanted it to say mom. In any case, the letters are inked on her knuckles which she proudly displays. This photo shows off both tattoos as well as her quirky style in clothes. This looks like something possibly worn in the early 90’s, but when you are the child of a mega star, you can certainly pull it off!
