15The Shettles Method - Timing Is Everything
The Shettles Method depends kind of heavily on accurate fertility charts. It’s all about the sperm, and how likely they are to survive at different points in the woman’s cycle. As the old saying goes, “timing is everything”. This completely non-invasive method states that a couple is more likely to
conceive a girl if they have sex 2-3 days before ovulation. The reasoning behind this is that the male sperm is believed to die off first, and therefore won’t survive long enough to meet the egg.
I am a pretty big believer in this theory, because it is basically how I conceived my own daughter. Honestly, I was not all scientific about it, it was actually just good timing by accident. My husband kind of decided to “try” without talking about it first, and when I did the math, I was pretty sure it was going to be a girl…and what a beautiful girl she is!!
This method does have a pretty high success rate when implemented correctly, but if your cycle is at all whacky, this may not be the lucky charm for you.
