Even though their ol' hubbies were once BFFs, traveling the world on tour and making albums together, it doesn’t seem that Beyoncé and Kim are (or were) destined to be best friends. And, honestly no one says they have to be. In fact, the media has speculated for years that the two women subtlety find ways to throw shade at one another. Once they both became mothers, it didn’t seem as if the feud ended.
It only just began.
Beyoncé never made it to Kim’s baby shower. Rumours spread that Kim was upset that a play date hadn’t been made for North and Blue Ivy. Over the years there have been times that the two ladies played nice and at least pretended to be friends, posing together at award shows and fashion shows (probably making all of Kim’s dreams come true).
Yet, they never seemed to be real friends. Looking at photos of their forced smiles and noticing the number of times Kanye was always absent from the Carters’ private events and parties, made it seem like Beyoncé has purposely kept the Kardashian-West clan at arms length. We’ve dug into the archives and have decided to try to figure out the relationship between these two powerful mommies.

Do you remember the time that Kim Kardashian was so overjoyed to attend Vera Wang’s fashion show in 2011 that she showed up in an evening gown, heels, and upswept hair? Clearly she was overdressed and we all felt a little embarrassed for her. Yet, the real embarrassment could be felt more from the cold stares she received from Beyoncé. Considering that their beaus knew each other at the time, we wonder why four people (including Solange and Kim’s best friend Rachel Roy) had to be seated between them.
Also, why didn’t they hang out before the show? Beyoncé was seen at the Mercedes Benz Star Lounge before the show with no Kim in sight. Clearly they weren’t friends at this moment in history. And, clearly this is when the world first took notice that there might be a feud between the two women.
15 ‘Watch The Throne’ Show Was Their First
“My biggest fear was during the ‘Watch the Throne’ that if I sit next to Beyoncé, she dances. Then, she wanted to go to the mosh pit and… she was like ‘Dance!’ And, I was like, ‘my life is over!” Apparently, Kim revealed in April 2016 on an episode of ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ that she doesn’t’ dance. And, in case you’re wondering what mosh pit she was referring to, it was probably at Kanye and Jay-Z’s performance in Birmingham, England in 2012.
This was the first time that the ladies were photographed together, side-by-side. It’s also probably one of the ONLY times that the two women have been seen giggling and dancing together. With the world ablaze at the time that Beyoncé was shunning and avoiding Kim, this finally put the rumours to rest… at least for a while.
14 Solange Attends The Met Gala With Kim K’s BFF
It’s really no big deal that Bey’s little sis showed up at the 2012 Met Gala with Kim Kardshian’s best friend, Rachel Roy… right? After all, Solange was wearing one of Rachel’s designs, a strapless canary yellow dress that she looked gorgeous in. Although, we have to wonder what Rachel’s best friend Kim really thought as there were rumours that the reality-star was banned from the Met by Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
Kanye was invited to the event and everyone was surprised to see that he showed up alone. Considering how much Kim loves fashion we find it odd that she wasn’t seen on the arm of either Kanye or Rachel. As for Rachel, we wonder why she would attend an event that her best friend wasn’t invited to. And, why would she attend the event with the sister of a woman with whom her BFF is sometimes ‘rivals' with?
13 Bey Ignores Kim At The 'Made In America' Festival
“Kim and Beyoncé barely spoke to each other. They were on opposite sides of the stage. Beyoncé didn’t even acknowledge [Kardashian] was there until the concert was almost over.” In September 2012 a source told the ‘New York Daily News’ all about how the two women gave one another the cold shoulder at Jay-Z’s ‘Made in America’ concert taking place in Philadelphia. As Kanye and Jay were best friends at the time and Kim was dating Kanye, it makes sense that they were there to lend their support.
Kanye even performed. Yet, the small talk between their leading ladies remained minimal. Another insider spoke how the ladies "made small talk in the dressing room, but you could tell Kim was uncomfortable. She clung to Kanye the entire time and didn’t say much.”
12 Beyoncé Ignores Kim’s Baby Shower
Kim Kardashian sent out the cutest invitation to her baby shower, a real life musical box that just so happened to play Kanye’s lullaby version of Hey Mamma. Yet, even though their beaus Jay and Kanye were good friends, Beyoncé couldn’t find the time to make it to Kim’s baby shower. It might be interesting to note that Beyoncé’s friend Gwyneth Paltrow couldn’t make the baby shower either. Although, Beyoncé was more gracious with her money than her time.
She sent a $13,000 Swarovski crystal studded high chair by designer Carla Monchen. Yes, we didn’t know that high chairs could be Swarovski crystal studded either. And, yes Blue Ivy has a similar one too. And, if you’re wondering what Gwyneth got Kim, well it was a Vitamix and a 21-day cleanse. We’re sure Kim was ecstatic!
11 Signed Petition To Boycott Kim And Kanye’s Wedding
Beyoncé and Jay-Z did not attend Kim’s & Kanye’s wedding and the world took notice. Instead of celebrating with their ‘friends’, Bey showed on Instagram that she was simply vacationing in the Hamptons. Fans seemed to approve as the petition was titled ‘Beyoncé Cannot Attend Kim Kardashian’s Wedding.’ Ouch. In the petition, a fan of Queen Bey, John Barry stated that, "Kim Kardashian and her disgusting family are known for their rise to fame for doing absolutely nothing. Now, we must do all in our power to stop Beyoncé from attending the god forsaken wedding. Beyoncé you always have something better to do than to attend a Kim Kardashian wedding.” Nearly 400 supporters signed the petition. Although, in the end Barry simply stated that it was all just ‘a joke’.
10 Jay-Z Wasn’t Kanye’s Best Man
Jay-Z and Kanye were besties. So, when Kanye got married it made sense that he’d want one of his closest friends to be his best man. According to a source, Jay-Z agreed as long as the cameras weren’t around filming him, Beyoncé, or Blue Ivy. “The thought of popping up on KUWTK mortifies Beyoncé. She isn’t prepared to lower her standards for anyone, or any occasion.” We can’t say that we’re shocked as Beyoncé and Jay are notorious about how they share the personal aspects of their lives.
In fact, the couple actually keep their private life well guarded… and well kinda private. So, in the end, Jay-Z politely changed his mind and gave Kanye an engraved diamond flask and scotch on his wedding day. Luckily, Don C., Kanye’s manager stepped into the role as Best Man.
9 Kanye Just Didn’t Care
Kanye had been married for ten days when he gave an interview with GQ magazine. In typical Kanye fashion he spoke about himself, the pains of being a celebrity, and of course the fact that Jay-Z and Beyoncé did not attend his wedding. “If you read the tabloid coverage, the implication is: Kim and her family are brining you down. Jay Z and Beyoncé didn’t show up at your wedding, because of them.”
Yet, he said that it didn’t bother him. He even went on at length to praise Kim and the advice that she gives. “There are a lot of Kim K skills that were added. In order to win at life, you need some Kim K skills, period.” He also stated how happy he was at that time in his life. “Just going home and getting on the floor and playing with your child are super cool.”
8 The West And Carters Double Date
It appears that the Carters and Wests wanted a friendly start to the New Year. They were seen stepping in and out of the same spot for what many believed to be a double date in Los Angeles. It was the first time that the couples were seen ‘together’ since Kim and Kanye’s Italian wedding in 2014. Unfortunately, sources say that the two women did not get along. “Beyoncé did talk to Kim to ask about North, but Kim thought it was strange and polite. Bey was gushing over Kanye, saying she’s got a song in mind she could do with him. Kim felt left out and was on the brink of tears when hey left,” a source explained. Maybe, that’s why there are pictures of Beyoncé and Jay ducking into a car with their heads down hiding from the paparazzi that evening?
7 Beyoncé Is ‘Inspired By Kim’
We’re not so sure what to think of this one. Apparently, Kanye seems to think that his wife Kim Kardashian inspires Beyoncé. During a radio interview for the Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 in New York City, Kanye aimed to put an end to all rumours about a feud between Kim and Beyoncé. He had this to say about the two women, “When Beyoncé's working on her album, she has pictures of Kim on the wall because Kim represents powerful women. Kim plays "7/11" for our daughter. They definitely respect each other, but maybe there's a LeBron James-Kobe [Bryant] element to it, but I can't say that.” We also find this hard to believe considering that North West was only 20-months at the time. Why wasn’t she listening to lullabies instead of songs with lyrics about alcohol?
6 Beyoncé At Yeezy
Of course Beyoncé got numerous #flawless on social media when she attended Yeezy’s NYFW presentation in Soho back in 2015. The singer stepped out to celebrate Kanye’s collaboration with Adidas Originals and the Yeezy Season 1 presentation. However, she wasn’t wearing Adidas or Yeezy anything. Instead, she chose a color block coat and matching crop top and skirt from designer Charles Elliott Harbinson.
Kim of course, wore Yeezy and by the looks of it, so did baby North West. Beyoncé posted the photo to social media with the caption ‘Beautiful Princess North’. The two women sat next to one another and appeared to be cordial enough. Although, maybe it was just for Jay Z’s and Kanye’s sake. After all, there has been speculation that the husbands got the two women together previously, to work out their differences.
5 Fan Accuses Kim Of Stealing Beyoncé’s Met Look
Remember how Kim wasn’t invited (and possibly banned) from the Met Gala in 2012 by Anna Wintour? Well, Anna learned to bend a little over the years. Kim went to the Met in 2013 (slammed by critics for her floral dress and gloves ensemble). However, this photo is from Kim’s attendance in 2015 where some fans (of Beyoncé) noted that her dress was eerily similar to Beyoncé’s Met Gala look from 2012.
Kim quickly took to social media to defend herself. She stated on Instagram, ‘Tonight’s inspiration! Cher at the 1st ever Met Gala! I just met her and told her this photo was my inspiration for my dress tonight! She is so beautiful! So happy I met her!” Even when you look at pictures of Cher, Kim’s dress still resembles Beyoncé’s look more.
4 Bey Wore Yeezy During Her ‘Don’t Hurt Yourself’
“It was such a boss look. It was so sexy as it is, and the underboob was kind of awesome.” Beyoncé’s stylist, Marni Senofonte, for the album ‘Lemonade’ spoke about the star’s look to the New York Times. See the Carters and Wests are friends! Even though Beyoncé didn’t wear Yeezy at the fashion show back in 2015, she did sport the brand for her ‘Don’t Hurt Yourself’ video.
It was a fitting look that she created with the crop top and leggings combo. In the video her hair is tightly braided, and the singer asserts her opinions to the camera in a parking garage. She’s also ‘flanked by female associates dressed in pantless Yeezy-esque looks,’ Liz Raiss wrote for Fader Magazine. It was powerful look, one that Kim paid homage to on Instagram.
3 Kanye's Breakdown
It was bizarre. Fans paid to see Kanye rap hits such as ‘Gold-digger and ‘Famous’, instead they got an on-stage rant. Part of the rant included him saying “Jay Z, call me bro, you still isn’t call me. I know you got killers; please don’t send them at my head. Jay Z call me. Come to me like a man.” Then, the show abruptly ended and the tour was cancelled.
The media outlets claimed that Kanye had a nervous breakdown and was in psychiatric care. There were even rumors that Beyoncé stepped in, urging Jay Z to patch things up with Kanye and be there for him. It’s all very sad considering an insider has stated that "When Kanye’s mother Donda died, it was Bey and Jay that Kanye turned to.”
2 Beyoncé Rejects Kim’s Gifts
Rumour has it that when Beyoncé gave birth to her twins in June 2017, Kim sent lavish gifts such as $150,000 worth of KKW contouring kits in a gold box and $10K worth of Yeezy’s children fashion line. Those same rumours also state that Beyoncé gave all of the expensive gifts to hospital staff. Although, who can really be sure, considering the story came from the tabloid magazine the ‘Heat’, a publication that is unlikely to have Kim or Beyoncé talk to them.
Also, why would Beyoncé shun a gift from her husband’s close friend’s wife? We’re not going to pretend that Kim and Beyoncé are friends, but we are sure that Beyoncé has the class to simply forget about the gifts at one of her homes while sending a very sweet thank you note to Kim.
1 Kim Wants Twins Just Like Beyoncé
We’re all wondering if it’s only a rumour that Kim and Kanye are planning to hire a surrogate to carry their third child in order to ‘keep up with the Carters’. After Beyoncé shook the Internet with news of her twins, it appears that Kim is set out to do the same. According to TMZ, the 36-year old ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ star has laid down $45,000 at an agency for a gestational surrogate.
E! Online, which broadcasts the Kardashian family’s reality show, confirmed the reports of a surrogate. “After talking to Kanye… I always knew surrogacy was an option, now it’s my reality,” Kim has even said in an April episode of ‘KUWTK’. Maybe, she really is looking to have twins like Beyoncé. Maybe, she is scared of the health complication of a third pregnancy in her 30s. Or, maybe it’s simply a rumour.
