Some say that traditions are going out the window, especially when it comes to marriage. Not as many people are placing the same value in marriage as the generations before. Even when couples do get married, rarely are traditional ceremonies seen — everything is more creative and elaborate. This means that a lot of people are not waiting to have children before they tie the knot.

This could be due to the fact that people are waiting until they are a bit older to have children and they don’t want to wait. Or it could be because the world is realizing that two people do not need to be married in order to create and love children.

Celebrities are no different, and a lot of them are choosing to have children before marrying. Whether the world wants to admit it or not, celebrities influence a lot of our behavior. The higher the status of the celebrity, the more likely people are to follow suit. There are a lot of A-listers out there who chose to have children before tying the knot, and we have found 20 of them.

Some on the list come as very little of a surprise, and some are quite surprising. Some are celebrities that seem to have been married forever but only said ‘I do’ after they had made their own little flower girl and ring bearer to walk down the aisle.

20 Ashton And Mila

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis seem like Hollywood sweethearts, and it feels like they have been together forever. That is because we first saw the two of these together when they starred as lovebirds on That '70s Show. The pair always seemed like they were made to be together, and it turns out they are, they just do things in a nonconventional way.

Let’s take a look at a brief timeline of their relationship. The pair met on the set of the hit show in 1998, they had a baby girl together in 2014, and then they wed a year later. They named their first, a daughter, Wyatt, and she is rumored to be one of the most charming babies out there. How could she not be with the parents she has?

19 Katie And Tom

This Hollywood couple was all the rage years ago, and while they have since separated and divorced, they are still talked about. Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise could have been considered Hollywood royalty at one point. They got married in Italy, in one of the most over-the-top, fancy castles out there, and their little daughter, Suri, was right there.

Suri was just a little baby at the wedding. She was born in April of 2006, and the wedding was just a few months later in November. It is reported that Suri “cooed” through the entire wedding; she was very happy for her two parents.

18 Kristen And Dax

This is one couple who are all over the media right now, and we can understand why. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard may be two of the most successful actors in the business right now, but there is something incredibly relatable about the two of them. They always appear to be ‘just like us,’ and it could be what draws us to them.

This pair had made a vow to not get married until it was legal for all to marry whoever they chose too, and they held that promise. This meant, though, that their daughter Lincoln would attend their wedding. The pair got married in 2013, and at the time, their daughter was 7 months old.

17 Kim And Kanye

It seems like we can not go a day without hearing about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Unfortunately, it is not always the greatest news. They do say that there is no such thing as bad press. This duo decided to go against the grain when it came to marriage and children. North West, the couple's first child, was nearly four months old before Kanye got down on one knee.

By the time the pair actually tied the knot in Florence, Italy, North West was almost one year old. An interesting fact is that the reason they chose Florence for their wedding was because that is where the couple conceived their little girl.

16 Matthew And Camila

It was a sad day when Matthew McConaughey was taken off the market by Camila Alves, but he was a spoken-for man long before the actual wedding day. Matthew and Camila actually have three children, but only one of them was born after they were married. The pair got engaged in 2011 when their first child was already one. They got married a year later, after the birth of their second child.

Matthew said this about why they waited, “I had to get to the point where I saw it as more than just the thing to do. I wanted to really want to. You know, I didn’t want it to be a destination; the fun is that we’re on the adventure together.”

15 Madonna And Guy

We expected an extravagant wedding from the resident ‘material girl,’ but we didn’t expect there to be a crying baby at the wedding. Madonna and Guy Ritchie got married at his parents’ castle, and it was beautiful, but they also had their son there.

Little Rocco was 4 months old at the time of their wedding. We have to give props to all these new moms getting married. Weddings are incredibly stressful, and it is hard to imagine planning all that out while taking care of a newborn. Of course, all the paid help we are assuming they had probably made it a little easier.

14 Mark And Rhea

It has been a long time since we have seen the days of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch; he is all grown up now. Mark Wahlberg and his then-girlfriend, Rhea Durham, finally tied the knot in 2009. This was after the pair already had three children of their own. The wedding was very low-key, and it only consisted of their children and about 12 close friends as guests.

When asked about delaying the nuptials, Mark had this to say; “I was not prepared to be married … when I was 20 or 30. Committing to making it work and all the other things that go into building a solid foundation is where I’m at now.”

13 Brad And Angelina

It seems like it has been a while since the world has spoken about superstar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. There was a time when it seemed like they were always in the news and you couldn’t go a day without hearing about them. Very much like Kristen and Dax, the couple wanted to wait to get married until it was legal for everyone to do so.

This resulted in them having a whole bunch of kids attend their wedding. Unlike Kristen and Dax, they did not wait until the law was passed, but they wouldn’t change a thing. Brad stated, “It means so much to my kids, and they ask about it. It means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.”

12 Jennifer And Ben

Who can forget the relationship that was between Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck? The two seemed so happy, and the world was shocked when the pair announced that their marriage was over. Divorce is never happy, but when there are children involved, it can be even harder. In this case, one child was at the wedding, even though she doesn’t remember.

By the time the pair got married in 2005, Jennifer was 4 months pregnant with their eldest daughter, Violet. Since the wedding, the pair had 2 more children to add to their family. Seraphina was born in 2009, and Samuel was born in 2012.

11 Natalie And Benjamin

Natalie Portman is one of Hollywood’s most recognized actresses. She has been in everything from Star Wars to Black Swan. Black Swan was probably one of her more memorable performances because that is where she met the love of her life, Benjamin Millepied.

The pair welcomed their son into this world in June of 2011, but they did not make things official until August of 2012. At just over a year old, their son was probably their youngest (and cutest) wedding guest. Children are always a blessing, and it doesn’t matter if it comes before marriage, or after; the order does not seem to be as important now.

10 Naomi And Liev

Two of the biggest stars in Hollywood are Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber. When two of the biggest stars get together, they become a powerhouse that seems to be unstoppable. These two beautiful people have welcomed two children. They had Alexander Pete in 2007 and Samuel Kai in 2008.

Liev did not propose to Naomi until 2009, but the wedding is nowhere in sight. Sometimes, a lot of people really do view marriage as just a piece of paper and if you really love each other, everything else is just a formality, and there is nothing wrong with that. Love is all that matters.

9 It’s A Kardashian Thing

We are adding another Kardashian to the list, and it seems like this may be a trend with this family. It doesn’t seem like marriage is a priority to this family and they have no problem welcoming children into the world without that piece of paper.

Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick welcomed their son Mason in 2009 and their daughter Penelope in 2012. They later announced their plans to marry and this has been rumored to have something to do with Scott losing both of his parents. Sometimes, it takes a life-changing event to make you realize what you really want in life.

8 Alicia And Swizz

Some couples don’t technically have their children at their wedding, but it is clear what is going on. Alicia Keys is one of the most successful singers, and her and hubby, Swizz, had a baby on the way at the time of their wedding.

This couple tied the knot just before the birth of their first daughter. The decision was obviously there to have kids before marriage, but the baby just hadn’t popped out yet. This baby ended up being a little girl who the couple named Egypt. Some women stress about getting married when pregnant because they worry about their dress fitting.

7 Nicole And Joel

This has always seemed like a bit of an ‘oddball’ couple, but opposites do attract, and Nicole and Joel showed us that it is possible. Nicole Richie has come a long way since we saw her on The Simple Life with BFF Paris Hilton. She is now a wife and a mother. She married Good Charlotte singer Joel Madden in a winter 2010 wedding.

The pair had two very special guests in attendance, and they were their two children. Nicole gave birth in 2008 and 2009 and they were able to attend their wedding. Nicole made this bold statement about having children before marriage, “I think for both of us, we are going to do it because we want to, not because that’s what you do.”

6 Sacha And Isla

Sacha Baron Cohen is known for playing some pretty wild and out-of-control characters, and I wonder if any of them showed up when he married the beautiful Isla Fischer. What we do know is that they had their children present on their big day.

Before the couple married, they had already had two beautiful daughters to share the day with them. This couple, while they are both very successful in their fields, have routinely stayed out of a lot of the limelight. Something that would seem difficult for someone like Sacha Baron Cohen, maybe being with Isla evens it all out.

5 Even Spiderman Did It!

Tobey Maguire was not really a household name until he starred as one of our favorite superheroes, Spiderman. This is when he won the heart of a lot of people. Tobey found love in a successful jewelry designer, Jennifer Meyer, and the pair wed in 2007. The pair had their first child, Ruby Sweetheart in 2006, right before the big day.

The pair also added a son, Otis, in 2009 and this family seems complete. Tobey has stated that having children is what urged him to finally settle down. We wonder if his wife designed her own rings as that it is her profession.

4 Jessica And Eric

She may not be quite the A-lister now, but she definitely was in the '90s. Jessica Simpson was a singer who turned reality TV star and then mom. She was married to Nick Lachey until that marriage ended and she met Eric Johnson. That pair soon had a millionaire’s family (one daughter and one son), and that was before they were even married.

The couple tied the knot in 2014, and their son, Ace, was a ring bearer and daughter, Maxwell, was a flower girl. The pair have gone on to create more children, but sadly, they missed out on their parent’s big day by a few years.

3 NPH And David

Neil Patrick Harris is loved in Hollywood. He has played some pretty big roles, and one of the biggest is probably his time spent as Barney Stinson on the hit show How I Met Your Mother. He and his partner, David Burtka, are also one of Hollywood’s most loved couple, and their children are even sweeter.

Of course, this couple could not have children the traditional way but through a surrogate. They also decided to do everything the nontraditional way. Their twins, Harper and Gideon, were born in 2010 when the couple was just engaged. The couple was actually engaged for 8 years before marrying in Italy in 2014.

2 Mario And Courtney

All '90s girls out there are well aware and familiar with the show Saved By The Bell. Thousands of teens watching this show and fell in love with Mario Lopez, who played AC Slater. Slater is all grown up now with a family of his own. Mario married dancer and actress Courtney Mazza in December 2012.

This was 2 years after the pair had already welcomed their daughter, Gia. One year after their wedding, Courtney then gave birth to their son, Dominic. A lot of these celeb families are showing that they not only have millions of dollars, but also million-dollar families.

1 Amber And Wiz

Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa are one of the more unique couples on our list, and they decide to do things a little differently than a lot of people. This includes having children. Amber Rose is a successful model, and Wiz is a well-known rapper. They two became parents in February of 2013 when their son was born.

When their son, Sebastian, was born, they seemed to decide to get a little more serious. The pair officially married 5 months later, and they couldn’t seem to be happier than they are right now. Only time will tell if the pair will add even more children to their family tree.
