How old is too old to have a baby? These days, with assistance from doctors, or help from surrogates, women are able to decide for themselves if they are ready for parenthood... even after age 45!

The celeb moms on this list did decide to embrace motherhood later in life. They're enjoying motherhood to the fullest and giving their babies the benefit of decades of wisdom and life experience. While motherhood in middle age isn't right for every woman, it seems to be working out beautifully for these caring, well-known mommies.

Some of these mommies were pretty busy rising to the tops of their professions during their 20's, 30's, and 40's, so they didn't have children in those decades. Others had kids when they were younger and decided to do it again after they turned 45. While the energy of youth probably does make it easier to take care of babies and small children, lots of celeb women take excellent care of themselves, and their focus on exercise, nutrition, and wellness means that they have the energy to spare when it comes to caring for their little ones.

Motherhood is always a miracle and the celeb moms on this list know this better than anyone. They are all so grateful for the chance to nurture babies and then watch them grow up.

20 Janet Jackson Was 50

Janet Jackson gave birth to a baby boy named Eissa Al Mana when she was 50, according to Elitedaily.com. Doctors know that it's not impossible to conceive naturally at this age, although it is rare. Most moms-to-be who want to get pregnant during their late 40's or 50's try IVF. IVF stands for in-vitro fertilization. Janet went the IVF route, according to sources, and had a healthy and happy pregnancy. She's thrilled to have her son and would, apparently, like to have one more baby in the future. Janet is currently 52 and Eissa Al Mana is her only child.

19 Beverly D'Angelo Had Twins At Age 49

You may know Beverly D'Angelo as the mom, Ellen Griswold, in the Vegas Vacation movie. Ellen Griswold is her most famous role and she's played that role more than once. In her late 40's, she took on a challenging, but fulfilling new role: she had twins with former boyfriend Al Pacino. She was 49 when her babies were born.

The couple wasn't married and they stopped their romantic involvement shortly after their twins were born, according to Closerweekly.com. This was tough on Beverly, who relied on a support system of staff and friends in order to cope. After the split, Beverly and Al Pacino eventually found ways to co-parent peacefully. Today, their twins are teenagers.

18 Geena Davis Was 48

When actress, Geena Davis, who starred in Thelma and Louise, was 48 years old, she gave birth to twins, according to the Nydailynews.com website. Their father was Geena's former hubby, who is a craniofacial surgeon. The twins were named Kaiis and Kian and they were born back in 2007. Geena also had a daughter named Alizeh, who was born in 2002. She was 46 when Alizeh was born.

These days, Geena enjoys motherhood and also puts tons of energy into worthwhile causes. She founded the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, which is all about supporting females of all ages and inspiring them to achieve.

17 Nancy Grace Gave Birth At 48

Nancy Grace isn't open about exactly how she conceived her twins, who were born when she was 48, according to Goodhousekeeping.com, but she has a good reason for keeping things to herself. She wants to be the one who tells her children about their conception.

Nancy did carry her twins to term herself... and experienced a lot of pregnancy complications along the way. She decided to try for babies after marrying her hubby, David, who is an investment banker. Nancy had basically given up on marriage and babies before David came along. Today, she's ecstatic to be the mother of a son and daughter.

16 Halle Berry Was 47

Halle Berry described herself as "premenopausal" when she discovered that she was pregnant at the age of 47, according to the Dailymail.co.uk website. Halle hadn't believed that pregnancy was possible at her age, especially since she was on the cusp of menopause, so news of her pregnancy was startling, but a happy surprise. She already had a daughter, Nahla, whose father is male model Gabriel Aubry.

The father of her second child is actor Olivier Martinez. Halle is no longer romantically involved with either baby daddy, however, Halle's second child was a son. His name is Maceo and he was born in October of 2013.

Rachel Weisz is very happy with her hunky hubby Daniel Craig, and they now have a baby daughter. Rachel is already a mother to a son by former hubby, Darren Aronofsky, who directed Black Swan and other notable films.

12 Holly Hunter Was 47

Holly Hunter is amazing as Elastigirl in The Incredibles animated film franchise, and she decided to embark on motherhood for the very first time when she was 47. Holly became pregnant with twins later in life. Her babies were born in January of 2006, according to En.wikipedia.org. The babies are both boys who were named Press and Claude.

One interesting fact about this hard-working, talented, and successful actress is that she can't hear in one ear. Another is that she had to sleep in NYC parks, once upon a time, before she made her dreams of being an acclaimed actress come true. Now, she lives in Brooklyn with her family.

Laura Linney is unforgettable in so many roles, including her part in Love, Actually. She always disappears into her roles.
