Some of the biggest stars in the world have had their pathways paved, for better or worse, by their talented and famous parents. While the vast majority of celebrity sons and daughters have carved out their own space in their respective industries, a lot of credit has to be given to their famous folks. This isn't just because more opportunities were granted to them by their parents' hard work or name recognition, but also because they got to absorb some of their parents' talent, perspective, energy, and creativity.

Because of their heritage, they managed to have a one-on-one masterclass with individuals who are world-renowned. This list will delve into some of the most famous grown-up celebrities who had parents who took the world by storm far before they ever did. Of course, one will find an assortment of notable actors on this list, but it's also filled with talented musicians and even a business influencer or two who managed to help their child into their industries.

Essentially, these individuals owe so much to their parents, and it's unlikely that they will ever forget this fact. Without further ado, here are 20 grown-up celebs whose parents were famous long before they ever were.

20 Zoe Kravitz

Another Big Little Lies star owes some of her success to the paths cleared by her two talented and famous parents, Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet. Although Zoe Kravitz has created her own unique space to thrive and even leap beyond the notoriety of her parents, she was lucky enough to gain firsthand knowledge and creativity from them. This is something that has continued on in her life as Lenny Kravitz is still touring and performing his beloved music -- seriously, he's one of the greatest talents around -- and her mom is all over the news, but mostly because of her new hubby, Aquaman himself, Jason Mamoa.

19 Colin Hanks

Given how young Tom Hanks looks, Colin Hanks could easily be his brother. In fact, a lot of people make that mistake, but the Life In Pieces star is actually one of Hanks' sons. However, he is Hanks' son from his first partnership to Samantha Lewes and not Rita Wilson, who had Chester and Truman with the famous Cast Away and Forrest Gump star. Colin Hanks is by far the most famous child in the Hanks family, but he has been able to create and role for himself in the industry that feels pretty separate, even though he shares the name of Hollywood royalty. The father and son duo did, however, star in the same movie together, The Great Buck Howard, which showed off their genetic connection.

18 Kate And Oliver Hudson

Kate Hudson, as well as her brother, Oliver, are Hollywood royalty. Many moms who read this site love Kate Hudson as she is equally glamorous as she is relatable. Not to mention, she's incredibly talented. One only needs to watch Almost Famous for proof of that. But they're also considered royalty because of their mom and step-dad. Goldie Hawn was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood for the longest time. She first got her start on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In and just skyrocketed from there. Every man wanted to be with her, and every woman wanted to be her. Kate and Oliver's step-father, Kurt Russell still holds much of the same respect that he had in the film industry.

17 Angelina Jolie

When it comes to celebrities, you don't get much more famous than Angelina Jolie. Seriously, this woman is on the cover of every tabloid and featured in an onslaught of films. She even directs and produces features, which is a huge undertaking. Most fans of hers are well aware of her father, Jon Voight. This is because the two actors have had a very publicized relationship that has seen many ups and downs. For the longest time, the two of them had absolutely nothing to do with one another. When they played father and daughter in the first Tomb Raider film, they even filmed their shared scenes completely separately. But now things have gotten much better between the two Academy Award-winning actors. This is a good thing too since Voight is equally as celebrated for his long time in Hollywood.

16 Lily Collins

Lily Collins has become a teen idol in recent years, even though she's only been in a handful of movies, both on the big screen and on Netflix. Still, she has sort of taken the industry by storm. Although she is the only major actor in her family, her father is one of the world's most famous musicians, Phil Collins. Many Millennials know him from his work on Disney's Tarzan soundtrack, but he has had an incredibly successful time as a solo act as well as in the band Genesis. Besides, he is behind the most famous drum solo of all time, featured in "In The Air Tonight". Of course, his daughter Lily is most famous for her roles in The Blindside, Stuck In Love, The Mortal Instruments, Okja, and the upcoming Tolkien.

15 Gwyneth Paltrow

Another major celebrity on this list is Gwyneth Paltrow. If Angelina Jolie isn't on the cover of a magazine or on Yahoo's homepage, it's Gwyneth Paltrow. But the famous Shakespeare In Love and Iron Man actor isn't the only thespian in her family. Her mother is Blythe Danner, who was acting long before her world-famous daughter. Nowadays, fans seem pretty acquainted with Danner. This is because of her role as Robert De Niro's wife in the Meet the Parents trilogy, as well as Will Truman's mom on the long-running sitcom, Will & Grace. But Danner was also a major theater actor long before Gwyneth entered the film industry.

14 Rashida Jones

Those who love Parks and Rec as well as The Office and The Social Network, and even a slew of hilarious comedy films such as I Love You, Man, and Celeste and Jesse Forever, are more than acquainted with Rashida Jones. This incredibly talented star has become a name that we all recognize. But before she ever became a star, both her parents were. First of all, there's her mother, Peggy Lipton, who has been an actor for a long time. Recently, she starred on Twin Peaks. But there's also her father, Quinsy Jones, the legendary and utterly beloved record producer, musician, and composer. Seriously, the guy is a total legend and has pretty much influenced everybody's work including his daughter's.

13 Dakota Johnson

Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson has created quite the place in Hollywood for herself. But she owes a lot of who she has become to her parents, Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. Don is really well known for his major role on the hit 1980s series, Miami Vice. He has become one of the biggest legends of the small-screen while his then-wife, Melanie Griffith was best known for movies like Body Double and Working Girl, both of which also came out in the 1980s. Eventually, Melanie and Done parted ways and Melanie formed a union with actor Antonio Banderas, who also taught Dakota Johnson a thing or two. Oh, and we can't forget that Dakota's grandmother is Birds star Tippi Hedren.

12 Alexander, Gustaf, Bill, and Valter Skarsgård

Although only three of the four Skarsgård siblings are featured here, each one of these boys from Sweden has pretty much taken over Hollywood. This is especially true of Bill Skarsgård and his older brothers Gustaf, from Westworld and Vikings, and Alexander who is famous to anybody who has seen practically any HBO show including Big Little Lies and the one with all the vampires. But their father, Stellan, also not pictured here, was super famous before any of them. We can totally see why each of these boys has shown incredible talent. After all, they learned from one of the best. Stellan Skarsgård has been in many major films such as the first two Thor movies, the first two Avengers, both Mamma Mia films, and Daniel Craig's version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

11 Liv Tyler

This particular entry is interesting because The Lord of the Rings and The Leftovers star, Liv Tyler, actually didn't even know that the front-man for the rock band Aerosmith, Steven Tyler, was her dad. She actually though her step-dad, the famous Todd Rundgren was her real father. She only met her biological dad when she was eight. This is because he was pushed away from his daughter (for the better) in her early years because of his issues. After he solved many of them, he was able to build a relationship with her and the two have been incredibly close ever since. For those who don't know, Steven Tyler isn't just famous for being a judge on Idol, Aerosmith is responsible for some of the most notable rock songs of all time. Nothing beats the high-notes that Steven Tyler can reach.

10 Tracee Ellis Ross

Black-ish's Tracee Ellis Ross is actually the daughter of the iconic superstar that is Diana Ross. For those who are unacquainted with the music of Diana Ross, she was the lead singer of The Supremes for many years and then went off into the solo world. She also starred in a couple of movies as many musicians and pop stars were doing in the 1980s and 1990s. Now that you know the jist of what this woman did, you absolutely need to be acquainted with her work. She is truly wonderful. This is clearly a sentiment that Tracee Ellis Ross agrees with as the pair are very close. Tracee even told People that she wants younger people to witness the sheer power of her mother's music.

9 Billie Lourd

Billie Lourd, who can be seen in the new Star Wars films and on Scream Queens, is extremely lucky to have been brought up in the family that she had. Although both her mother and grandmother had notable issues that they dealt with for years on end, Lourd no doubt learned a ton from them. First of all, Lourd's mother is the undeniably talented, uproariously hilarious, charmingly off-color actor and writer, Carrie Fisher. Yes, Lourd's mom is Princess Leia herself. Then there's Carrie's mother, Debbie Reynolds, who was one of the most famous actors and musical performers of her generation. Although both women have passed on, Lourd is sure to appreciate how much she's taken from these two brilliant women.

8 Norah Jones

Norah Jones is another talented musician who is actually Grammy Award-winning as well. A lot of what she's learned about music came from her musical father, Ravi Shankar, who was a composer, musician, and sitar player. In India, this guy was truly a rockstar. Everybody knows Ravi Shankar. Unfortunately, Norah wasn't all that acquainted with him until she was 18-years-old. This is because they were estranged from one another. But when they reconnected, they became very close to one another, even though Norah Jones wanted to have space of her own so she could create her own lasting legacy of musical hits.

7 O'Shea Jackson Jr.

If you've seen Straight Outta Compton or Ingrid Goes West, you are well aware of O'Shea Jackson Jr. The young man is set to appear in a string of big movies such as Seth Rogen's and Charlize Theron's The Long Shot, and Space Jam 2. Essentially, we are about to see this actor become a really big deal. But so much of O'Shea Jackson Jr. talent and opportunity comes from his dad, Ice Cube. O'Shea even played his father in Straight Outta Compton, which portrayed the life of the members of the rap group, N.W.A. Ice Cube, of course, was a humungous celebrity because of his roles in many major blockbusters. The man can rap, he can create, he can act, and he can connect with his audience.

6 Lenny Kravitz

While Zoe Kravitz owes some of her success to her father, Lenny Kravitz, for opening certain doors and sharing his brilliance, the same can be said for Lenny himself. Although he was famous long before his daughter, his mother was famous long before him. Lenny Kravitz's mom was Roxie Roker who played Helen Willis on the smash-hit show The Jeffersons. She was even part of the first interracial couple to be shown on prime-time television, which opened the door for a lot more opportunity for others. Roker was also a major player in other 1970s and 1980s shows such as The Love Boat, Punky Brewster, and Beat The Clock.

5 Bryce Dallas Howard

Bryce Dallas Howard seemingly came out of nowhere. Although she had done many independent films, she suddenly became an A-List superstar overnight. Now she's leading her own movies, such as the Jurassic World trilogy and even appears on Black Mirror. Seriously, this talented redhead is a force. But her father was a major talent long before her and still is a player in Hollywood. Ron Howard is known for starring as a child on Happy Days. After his days at USC, he became one of the most sought-after filmmakers in Hollywood. Not only was this because of his immense talent but also because he is apparently one of the nicest guys around. If you haven't seen The Da Vinci Code, Cinderella Man, Solo, or any of his other movies, you probably know him as the narrator on Arrested Development.

4 Emma Roberts

So, this photo is slightly misleading as Emma Roberts is not actually the daughter of mega-celebrity Julia Roberts. In fact, Emma is Julia's niece. And the pair of talented performers are actually very close. Emma credits a lot of what she's learned to her Oscar-winning auntie, who even inspired her to act when she invited Emma to the set of Erin Brockovich. But her father, Eric Roberts, was also famous long before she ever became one of the biggest teen stars around. Unfortunately, Eric Roberts has a lot of notable issues and therefore doesn't have the best of relationships with his daughter. This is why it's so challenging to find images of the two of them together. But Eric Roberts was a big star in the '80s and '90s. Most younger people know him as Sal Marone from The Dark Knight.

3 Domhnall Gleeson

Many know Domhnall Gleeson from his role as Hux in the new Star Wars films, others know him from movies like The Revenant, Ex Machina, About Time, Goodbye Christopher Robin, and his role as Bill Weasley in the later Harry Potter movies. But his father is also a Harry Potter Alumnus; none other than Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody AKA Brendan Gleeson. Gleeson was acting in Ireland and the rest of the UK long before his son but made it big later in his life in such Hollywood films as Gangs of New York and In Bruges. Seriously, Brendan, much like his son, is the kind of guy who is in just about everything.

2 Laura Dern

Jurassic Park actor and Big Little Lies star is certainly one of the most accomplished and talented celebrities around. This is amazing as she's had a consistent and flourishing resume since her launch in 1986's Blue Velvet. But Laura Dern doesn't credit all of her success on her hard work and the filmmakers who took a chance on her, like David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, and Lou Adler. A lot of her talent came from being around her successful father, Bruce Dern as well as her mother, Laura Ladd. Most people don't know that Ladd is actually an Oscar-nominated actor and still acts in many Hallmark movies. While Bruce Dern has been playing iconic character roles since the early 1960s. Among his most famous works are Gunsmoke, Number One, The Great Gatsby, Coming Home, Nebraska, The Hateful Eight, and The Burbs.

1 Allison Williams

Almost every Millennial is well acquainted with Allison Williams thanks to her co-leading role on Lena Dunham's hit HBO show Girls, as well as Jordan Peele's Oscar-winning movie, Get Out. Allison also does a variety of independent films and is all geared up to do a number of larger studio projects. But her father was famous long before she was. Her dad is Brian Williams, who was once one of the most beloved and trusted men on NBC news. Of course, he had an issue that pushed him away from journalism for a while but he's back on MSNBC. Brian Williams has regained a lot of the trust he lost and continues to have the love and support of his famous daughter.
