We often think celebrities live on another planet because they sure do seem to live in another world. It is hard to remember sometimes that they are people just like us. They have the same problems that the rest of the world does, and they live a ‘similar’ lifestyle regarding marriage, properties, and children.

Being a parent is the same and it doesn’t matter what country the parent lives in or how much fame and money they have. There are still the same challenges. Celebrity parents still face a difficult decision on how to raise their children and what kind of parent they want to be. Do they want to run the house with an iron fist? Or, do they want to take a more peaceful approach?

Some celebrities, like Candace Cameron-Bure, are known for being extremely strict with their children. They know the law and they lay it down. Well, if DJ from Full House and Fuller House can grow up to become a strict parent with rules full enforced, it makes us wonder.

It makes us wonder how many other celebrity parents out there are also strict parents? We found 20 other parents out there who are at the very least, as strict as Cameron, but some maybe even more.

20 Gordon Ramsay

I don’t think it is much of a surprise that Gordon Ramsay is a strict father. If you have seen his hit shows Hells Kitchen and MasterChef, you know how tough this man can be. While he may be tough, I bet he makes his children wonderful food.

Gordon seems to be strict about money, and he has a lot of it. He has stated that he is not leaving any of his money to his children when he leaves this earthly world. He wants his children to earn their spot in the world and not have anything handed to them. “They haven’t worked anywhere near hard enough to afford that. At that age, at that size, you’re telling me they need to sit in first class?”

19 Gisele Bündchen

Gisele has sure had her share of attractive partners, starting with Leonardo DiCaprio. Probably because she is an absolutely gorgeous model. Now, she is married to New England’s Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady. The pair have two children together and her parenting styles have been a little off the norm. She is very strict on not using diapers for her children, and instead practiced “elimination communication.”

She also thinks that breastfeeding should be mandatory. This is what she stated in an interview on the subject; “Some people here (in the US) think they don’t have to breastfeed, and I think, ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child when they are so little?’ I think there should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for six months.”

18 Kourtney Kardashian

You had to have known that there was going to be at least one Kardashian sister on this list, and it turns out it is Kourtney Kardashian. Her strict rules are not much different than Julia Roberts and it all revolves around the amount of treats her children get. We wonder if any of her children’s aunts or uncles ever sneak them something.

Kourtney said this about her policy; “I have noticed a great positive change in behavior with my children when we stick to a gluten-free and dairy-free [lifestyle].” However, she also stated that she doesn’t believe that everyone needs to live this way, it is just what works for them. It is nice to see a mom not pushing their beliefs and rules on others.

17 Megan Fox

Megan Fox has not been in the spotlight much recently, but that is probably because she is too busy raising her beautiful family. Her strict rules revolve around screen time, which may be ironic considering their mom is a movie star.

She does not allow her children anywhere near any screens of any kinds. They are not allowed computer games, tablets, or Internet access. They are allowed to watch cartoons and movies occasionally, but she is really trying to have them live a technology-free life. This is something that almost seems impossible in the world we live in today, but good for her for giving it a try.

16 Julie Bowen

Julie Bowen plays a pretty cool and strict mom on the show Modern Family, and it turns out that she is not much different in real life. Julie has three kids with her ex-husband Scott Phillips, and she has a lot to say about what kind of relationships parents need to have with their kids.

She told Working Mothers, “Being your kids’ best friend is not always the best parenting choice. It’s not about everybody being happy all the time. It’s about setting limits. In my house that makes my kids very unhappy, like tantrums-on-the-ground-twice-a-day unhappy. But the limits are set.” There is some truth to that as children need limits to know how to act as they grow up.

15 Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow is a world-renowned singer and she has a heart made of gold. This is clear when we learn that the two sons she has are actually adopted. While she does put them above anyone else in the world, she is still a super strict mom. They attend every tour with her, and she has stated that she believes that while this may disrupt their life, it is better. It is worth more that she is always available if they should need her support.

She tries to make sure that they still have a lot of fun while they are on tour with her. She looks ahead to make sure there are museums nearby and other fun attractions. When they are all at home, she puts a strict guideline on how much video games they are allowed to play.

14 Chip And Joanna Gaines

Now, strict in essence doesn’t always have to do with punishment and discipline. It could simply be referring to the rules that are set up in the household. Chip and Joanna Gaines are two of the stars on the hit-show Fixer Upper and they have a little team to themselves. When it comes to this couple, Chip is the one that is slightly stricter, especially about video games and TV time.

He told the following to People magazine about his parenting style; “When I got to be a parent, I don’t know what it is about it … I feel a little bit like a drill sergeant sometimes. Some elements of my personality, as a parent, I’m not really crazy about.”

13 Reese Witherspoon

Reese is one actress who doesn’t let much slide in her home. Reese has two children with her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, and one son with husband Jim Toth. She has a daughter named Ava, a son named Deacon, and last but not least, a son named Tennessee. She also grew up in the South and while she does have that charm, she doesn’t let her children get away with anything.

This is what Reese had to say; “I’ll give you a ‘sit-to’ which just means you have to sit down and listen to what I have to say. If you really make me mad, then I give you a ‘what-for’ which is a whole other thing you don’t want to get involved in.” That’s enough to scare us.

12 Mila And Ashton

They are one of the most loved couples of Hollywood. They are both incredibly attractive, funny and famous but they don’t let that get in the way of their parenting. Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher met on the set of That '70s Show and love blossomed. They are now raising a family of their own, but they choose to live a more down-to-earth lifestyle.

Mila has stated multiple times that they do not use a nanny and that they are raising their children the exact same way they were raised. In a ‘normal’ and ‘strict’ household. They are also known for putting a limit on the number of gifts their children get for Christmas. They don’t want their kids to just expect a bunch of stuff at the holiday time.

11 Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett is one of the most well-known and glamorous actresses in Hollywood, and she knows success. She has won an Oscar, so she knows what she is doing. She also shows that she can definitely act when it comes to her children.

According to reports, Blanchett has said this about her parenting; “I don’t enjoy being the bad cop, but sometimes I have to be. My husband (Andrew Upton) and I worry about our generation trying to be friends with their children rather than parents of their children.” There is a lot of truth to her words, and she shows that she is not afraid to lay down the law.

10 Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman is one of the easiest recognizable actors in all of Hollywood. He is known for his roles in the X-Men franchise as well as The Greatest Showman. He seems to be a triple-threat, he can act, sing and dance. He also is a great father who is trying to raise children who do not grow up with a sense of entitlement. Something hard to do for celebrity children.

He had these words of wisdom to share; “I constantly talk to them about respect and gratitude. I say, ‘Unfortunately, I’m going to be tougher on you than I would be if I wasn’t famous, because people are actually going to be less tough on you in life.”

9 Julia Roberts

This pretty woman is raising her own team of children and she is definitely doing it her own way. Julia Roberts may be one of the highest paid actresses in Hollywood, but she is not spending any of that money on treats for her children. Julia is very strict when it comes to what her children consume.

When she was being interviewed by People at the premiere for her film Eat Pray Love, she had this to say; “I’m a pretty strict mom when it comes to sweets. Even though I have such a sweet tooth myself. You want sweets, ice cream, and cake, to be a great treat and a celebration. Something that’s not every day. I think this makes them appreciate it when they do have it.”

8 Jlo

Jennifer Lopez has gone by many names, Jlo and Jenny from the Block are just a few of them. This singer, dancer, and actress now has the title of mom which is probably her favorite. Jennifer has twins and they have to work hard for any time on the TV. They are not completely banned, like Megan Fox, but they have to earn the right to use them.

If they do well in school, they are rewarded with screen time. This seems like a very reasonable situation, though the children may not see it that way. Screen time is a big concern in the parenting world, and it is nice to see celebrities putting a limit on it as well. They really are just like us.

7 Madonna

The Queen of Pop is a lot of things, and a wonderful mother is one of them. She shows the world that you can be a strict mother and have children that love you as well. She was in an interview in 2005 with a magazine called Harpers & Queen when she was asked about rules in her house.

“My kids don’t watch TV… TV is trash.” That’s a little harsh, but she continues saying, “I was raised without it. I didn’t miss anything. TV is poison. No one even talks about it around here. We have televisions, but they’re not hooked up to anything but movies. We don’t have magazines or newspapers in the house, either.”

Well, Madonna, how would the world know to love you without TVs or magazines?

6 Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow is one of the most recognizable actresses in Hollywood, and she is in some of the most iconic movies of all time. She also started the unique name-craze when she named her daughter Apple. She also has a second child named Moses. She is very strict on her children when it comes to food.

Her family is on a very strict low-carb, gluten-free lifestyle and everyone follows the same tune. In an excerpt from her cookbook, she said, “Every nutritionist, doctor, and health-conscious person I have ever come across seems to concur that gluten is tough on the system and many of us are at best intolerant of it and at worst allergic to it.”

5 Posh Spice And Beckham

There are not many couples out there who are in the spotlight as much as David and Victoria Beckham. David started as an all-star soccer player and Victoria is better known as Posh Spice from the iconic '90s band. The pair have four beautiful children together and they are known for being a little strict.

In an interview with E!, Victoria said this about her parenting; “We’ve always been strict with the children. They have great manners. They always say ‘please’ and ‘thank you,’ and I think that’s very important.” She does state that no matter what she says, they will not stop playing football (soccer) in the house.

4 Jessica Alba

Next to Cameron Candace-Bure, Jessica Alba is also known for being a strict parent. Her method of discipline when it comes to her children misbehaving is a good old-fashioned time-out. She said in an interview with People magazine that the biggest thing their children do that grinds her gears is when they grab something out of their siblings’ hand.

In regard to how she addresses this, she had this to say; “Stand in the corner and put your nose against the wall! My 2-year-old can last 15 seconds before she’s like, 'Okay, I’m done!’ and then I’m like, ‘Wait it’s not up to you!’ My 5-year-old can go for some time, like a minute or two.”

3 Denzel Washington

Denzel has won Academy Awards for his phenomenal acting skills in some of the most iconic movies that have ever left Hollywood. Many people may not know that he is also one of the strictest fathers out there. Denzel is married to his wife, Pauletta and the pair have some gorgeous children and they say that their parenting method has affected their children.

Denzel states that his children really do say ‘Yes, Ma’am’ or ‘No, Sir’ when addressing their parents. Some may think that is a little extreme, but others may see it as children who completely respect their parents and are not afraid to show it.

2 Brooke Shields

Brooke Shields grew up in front of the camera and she has had her life under a microscope which is the price you sometimes pay for fame. She is now a mother and, of course, her parenting methods have been called in to question. Specifically, on how strict she is.

Brooke had this to say about her style as a parent; “I always feel like the [strange] mom out because trust me when I tell you I’m on my girls. And every time I am. I know from the outside it looks like I’m an overbearing, controlling parent. But I don’t think we have any responsibility to anybody else but our kids and ourselves.”

I think that is a nice way of saying 'mind your own business.'

1 Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood is probably the oldest father on our list and his children are all grown. Now, his children are old enough to reflect back on their childhood and how their father was. His son, Scott Eastwood, didn’t get things easy growing up. When he was 16 years old, Scott went to a party with his younger sister and left her there. Clint was not happy with that, and there were some harsh words. Scott stated that this was how his father reacted; “He popped me and said, ‘You don’t ever leave your sister at a party, ever.'”

He said that in his family if you did something wrong you were going to face the consequences. While this may seem harsh to some, Scott said he learned very quickly what he could and could not do.
