17 Why Lindsie Quit The Show

Lindsie Chrisley was known to pop in and out of the show, Chrisley Knows Best, in the beginning. But, after the end of season five, she seemed to bail and left many people wondering what happened.

According to nickiswift.com, there were a few scenarios that fans created to explain her absence. One scenario was that she was unable to pick up and move when the family moved from Georgia to Tennessee. Another theory was because of her new podcast, Coffee Convos, which she co-hosts with Teen Mom 2’s Kailyn Lowry.

However, the real reason is because Todd wanted to use Lindsie’s divorce as a plot in the show. From what a source told Radar Online, Lindsie was not happy about it, but Todd did not care and in the end, it put a strain on his relationship with his daughter.

16 Did Todd Take His Oldest Daughter Without Permission?

Before there was Julie, there was Todd’s high school girlfriend, Teresa Terry. The two lovebirds married in 1990, but sadly it just was not meant to be, and everything went up in smokes in November 1994.

How did he get into this pickle though?

Well, the simple answer is a real estate loan gone wrong. According to his attorney, Robert Furr, Todd guaranteed a real estate development loan and it failed, leaving him on the hook for over $49.4 million.

In the end, Todd reached a settlement of $150,000 in 2015, but it was reported that as of January 2017, he still owed $70,000 of that settlement.

Entertainment Daily

According to the Nashville Scoop, it started when Julie and her company, Jubilee Investments, tried to get a land-sale contract that later failed, leaving her in the hole for $12,743, which later ballooned to $20,802 after legal fees, court costs, and other expenses. Julie refused to pay it, and a judge was forced to allow the cops to go in and seize her property to satisfy the debt.

So, it was already explained how Todd fell into some serious debt back in 2012, but what wasn’t explained is how he found himself back in debt in 2017.

According to nickiswift.com, Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News did a story back in February 2017 and broadcasted to the world how Todd was in debt due to state income taxes. From what the trustee, Jason Pettie, who was in charge of claiming Todd’s assets to pay off his debt back in 2012, Todd did not pay state taxes between the years 2004 and 2011 when he lived in Georgia.

What made things harder for him, is that Todd, who lived in Georgia, claimed he was a resident of Florida on his tax returns, which by the way is a state that doesn’t require residents to file state returns.

8 Kyle Thinks His Dad Is 'A Toxic Snake'

ABC News

Todd Chrisley has always portrayed this perfect family picture on his show Chrisley Knows Best. Things are not always what they seem though.

According to intouchweekly.com, in 2014, Kyle slammed his father yet again and spoke out against him, describing his father as a "toxic snake" who would shut him out of his own child’s life.

In fact, during an interview with Daily Mail, Kyle painted a different picture of his father than what we have seen on the show: “My dad showed no interest in Chloe until it was pointed out that gaining custody of a mixed race child would boost his demographic for his show. He didn’t want to see or have anything to do with her before that"

7 Nanny Faye's Foreclosure

USA Network

Just by watching the show, fans can tell that Todd has a very close relationship with his mother, Nanny Faye. He loves his mom so much that he monitors her spending, who she hangs with, what she does during the day, and much more, which has all be broadcasted on his show.

Which brings up the question, if he cares for his mother so much, why would he jeopardize her living situation?

According to nickiswift.com, Nanny Faye’s home went up for foreclosure back in April 2014 due to Todd’s financial issues. To be more specific, Todd defaulted on a secured loan that was for over $300 thousand.

On April 21, 2014, the U.S. Bank, National Association and Home bank Mortgage Loan, was granted permission to obtain possession of Nanny Faye’s property.

6 Todd The Micro-manager?

Life & Style

It is quite obvious that Kyle and his dad do not get along, at all. For Kyle, the biggest reason that created a rift between them is that his father is fake and only truly cares about Chrisley Knows Best’s success.

According to nickiswift.com, during an interview with Daily Mail back in October 2014, Kyle has this to say about his father: “This show has been nothing but bad for me. At this point, he's messed up me and the other three kids, who are spoiled. The whole thing is fake. He micromanages everything: so, if you say something and he doesn't like it he'll say, 'Stop' and tell you what to say and you'll do it again."

In response, Todd blamed Kyle’s comments on his supposed mental illness.

5 Is Todd And Julie's Marriage A Scam?

Todd and Julie have been married since 1996 and on the show Chrisley Knows Best, their relationship seems to be nothing but love and romance between one another. Each episode of the show ends with the family gathered in the parent’s bedroom where they talk about the day. On top of that, the couple are often seen going on some pretty creative dates.

According to nickiswift.com though, from what sources have said, the couple’s romantic lifestyle is not as romantic as they might make it seem on camera.

"It is hard for anyone who works with Todd or Julie to believe that their marriage is authentic," the source told Radar Online. "It's made for TV. They do not display the same level of affection and love towards each other off-camera as they do when they are filming."

4 It's Sad To Say, Todd Isn't As Funny As Fans Might Think

One thing that always has fans busting a gut with laughter while watching Chrisley Knows Best is Todd’s infamous one-liners and sarcastic quips.

Sadly, for those fans who have come to love how fast he can make a comeback, it will be heartbreaking to know that Todd is not the one behind the comebacks.

In fact, according to nickiswift.com, Todd does not write any of his own jokes. “Todd uses a team of comedy writers for his show and has been using them to write dialogue for several seasons," a production insider told Radar Online. "Todd does not come up with this stuff on his own and is not as funny as people think."

3 They Are All There For Family In Tough Times

Although Todd does not talk much about his extended family, he is really close to his brother Randy, who was diagnosed with stage four cancer back in October 2014.

According to nickiswift.com, many fans of the show might remember when Todd broke the news of his brother’s illness on season two of Chrisley Knows Best. It was later revealed that Todd helped his brother by flying him to a hospital in Atlanta. “I flew back to be with my brother, and I had him moved to a hospital in Atlanta and he's doing as well as he can," Todd told E! News. "He's on his sixth round of radiation and first round of chemo so he's kinda knocked out right now with the chemo."

One thing is for sure, when family is in need, Todd is there for them.

2 Does Todd Use His Granddaughter For Ratings?

Kyle has made some serious claims about his father in the past, but it is this one in particular that has had us really surprised.

According to nickiswift.com, Kyle had this to say during an interview with Daily Mail: “My dad showed no interest in Chloe until the show and until it was pointed out that having custody of a mixed-race child would be good for his demographic. He didn't want to see her before then. He said he wanted nothing to do with her."

Despite these claims, Todd has continued to take care of his granddaughter. “Chloe is our family, and we are glad that the world gets to see such a beautiful child grow, explore and come into herself so brilliantly through love and respect," he told Us Weekly in December 2017.

1 How Julie Came To Adopt Lindsie

According to nickiswift.com, after Todd and Teresa’s divorce in 1994, the couple fought for years over custody of their children, Kyle and Lindsie, before a judge decided that they would share custody of their children. The agreement was, Todd would get them on school days, and Teresa would get them three weekends out of the month, vacations, and public holidays in every even year.

Todd was sneaky though and found ways around it. In the end, Lindise grew up with Julie as a mother. At the age of 18, Lindsie came to Julie and asked her to adopt her, seeing as she was the only mother she ever knew.

Lindsie admitted on a recent episode of her podcast Coffee Convos though, that even after the adoption she still felt like an outcast.
