Growing up is hard enough especially in our age of digital media where our children are trying to find themselves while manage a self image with the opinions of their peers. We live in a day and age where cyber bullying, Snapchat, and photoshop are all too prevalent. That makes a giant impact on regular children, but it does tremendous things to those children in the spotlight. They have reports, paparazzi, and countless faceless social media commenters to handle on a regular basis.

Handling fame and fortune is hard enough for adults who all to often cannot handle the extreme pressures of being in the public eye. It's amazing that some kids turn out even half normal while growing up in the spotlight, but we cannot really be surprised by the ones who end up bald, on drugs, or just a good old fashioned train wreck.

These kids work adult hours, handle more money that most of us do in a year, and manage a public persona. Plus, being in the public eye comes with A LOT of hate and negativity which can be traumatic especially during those adolescent years when teenagers are trying to find themselves and their place in the world.

16 Trainwreck: Kylie Jenner

We have all watched the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan grow up on our TV screens for years. The reality star turned cosmetic business mogul has lived basically her entire life in the spotlight including a troubled on and off relationship with rapper, Tyga.

Jenner has been harshly criticized for her mutliple plastic surgeries and cosmetic procedures especially at such a young age. The 19 year old has had her lips done despite the fact that she refused to publicly admit it for quite a bit.

Many parents do not see Jenner as a good role model for their daughters because of her plastic surgeries or the fact that she dated a guy almost ten years older than her. Finally, many do not like the fact that the reality star shows all sorts of skin and body parts for the world to see.

15 Innocent: Zendaya

Unlike her fellow Shake It Up co-star, Zendaya has remained a Disney star as she is in the show KC Undercover. Zendaya has actually paved the way for girls who want to do something other than sing or dance with Disney when taking on the role of KC on the show. While it was in the works, she insisted on being a producer and defined some non-negoitable terms.

The actress has created a clothing line, starred in Spider-man, and uses her platform to address social injustices in our society. She wants to address real world issues in a way that her audience, young people and children, can understand and relate to. The star has addressed topics like police brutalities, cyber bullying, and racially insensitive comments such as one she was victim to by Giuliana Rancic.

14 Train Wreck: Bella Thorne

For anyone who has been living under a rock, the former Disney star has hopped on over to reality TV as she's been partying it up with single dad of three Scott Disick. Bella claims that Disick parties too hard core for her, but that hasn't stopped the two from hitting the clubs and hanging out.

The 19 year old has also been romantically linked to rapper, BlackBear. The pair are supposedly dating following pictures that have been released involving quite a bit of PDA and not a lot of clothing. The lack of clothing seems to be a trend for Thorne who has posed in her bra and underwear quite a few times for social media pictures. Her septum piercing, hot pink hair, and lack of clothing have proved that the former Disney star is throwing her good girl attitude for a more rebellious appeal as she continues to shock the world.

13 Innocent: Selena Gomez

The former Disney star might have the most followers on Instagram, but she doesn't let that get to her. She is very real about how so much social media can impact a person's self worth and own opinion. She surely doesn't think she's all that and a bag of chips. Gomez has made it clear that she is an advocate for mental health, not only for herself but for her fans as well.

While the pop-star and influencer has gone to a 90 therapy program, we can definitely say she is not a train wreck because she uses her experience and platform to help other young people understand that mental health is important. It's not something that most of us enjoy talking about or feel comfortable admitting we have issues with so Gomez being so open has really been a game changer.

12 Trainwreck: Miley Cyrus

The former Disney star has become a measuring stick for child stars who rebel against being a role model. It's no secret that Miley had what we previously called a "Britney moment" back in 2013 at the VMA's. Twerking, lack of clothing, and some questionable pole placement had Miley at the center of a lot of concerned parents. The former good girl showed that Hannah Montana wasn't the only pop-star as she broke out with songs like "Wrecking Ball" and "We Can't Stop."

Many think Cyrus's tongue out, twerking phase had something to do with rebranding, She grew up with a good girl image that helped a audience of young kids to relate to her, but if Cyrus wanted to separate from Disney and that image, she surely went all out with doing so. We saw a side of Miley that many of us didn't expect She has since toned down the train wreck, but no one will ever forget her 2013 VMA performance.

11 Innocent: Josh Peck

Besides not inviting his TV brother, Drake Bell, to his wedding this child star has managed to keep a clean rap since his days on Nickelodeon. The actor has kept himself busy with all kinds of work and projects. He recently even got married with put him at the center of some hate as Bell tweeted his shock to not be invited.

Peck now works with former Full House star John Stamos on the show Grandfathered. Now the star is married to Paige O'Brien leaving us to believe he is settling down and skipping the train wreck phase that so many child actors have gone through. Peck has continued to entertain us with his comedy over the years.

10 Train Wreck: Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes has been acting since the late 90's and spent her most vulnerable years in the spotlight as a preteen and teenager growing up on camera. We saw her regularly on The Amanda Show and in some of our favorite movies, but it has been FOUR years since Bynes did an interview. This June she came back for her first interview, and she was clean and sober. In order to get to that point though, Bynes had previously gotten pretty messy as many of those do who grew up in the spotlight.

Bynes has several run ins with the law, including fleeing the scene and a DUI. Bynes went a little off the rails for most of 2013 as she ranted on Twitter, was called "insane," and believed she was being confused with an imposter. Bynes was arrested for drug charges and spent the night in the mental ward that same year. She claims all of it was fake, and she's suing police, TMZ, and so on.

9 Innocent: Miranda Cosgrove

One of the most well known roles Cosgrove was is little sister of Drake and Josh, Megan Parker on Drake and Josh. Cosgrove went on to have her own show with Nickelodeon, iCarly. The young actress has been on our screens since she was a young child and has grown up in the television industry.

Despite growing up in the spotlight, after Cosgrove's time at Nickelodeon ended when iCarly finished the young actress went back to college. She continued to stay in the industry with voice-overs, pilots, and all sorts of acting jobs. Currently Cosgrove, who is 22, is studying film at University of Southern California. She also joined the show Crowded in 2016 keeping herself busy.

8 Train Wreck: Jamie Lynn Spears

Little sister of Britney Spears, who was once the star of Zoey 101, but her acting career basically came to a dead halt in 2007 when the Nickelodeon star announced she was pregnant at just 16 years old. It's no surprise that Jamie Lynn faced some pretty serious backlash as she was supposed to be a role model to young girls. That image of a teen mom back in 2007 was not something many parents wanted their daughters looking up to.

Since her pregnancy, Spears's on screen work has been extremely limited. Many have shown hate towards the young actress and mother because it was thought she used her platform to "glamorize" teen pregnancy. Spears stayed out of the public eye in many ways, but she had begun releasing music. The first big title of Spears in the public was when her daughter, Maddie, was in an ATV accident this past year.

7 Innocent: Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff grew up in Casper Meets Wendy and countless Disney Channel movies and shows. We'd expect at some point she'd have some type of identity crisis or public meltdown that we've come to know and expect from child stars, but Duff is still going strong and starring in a TV Land show, Younger.

Obviously in over two decades of acting, Duff's life has majorly changed but her ability to not let the fame get to her as stayed the same. Duff was actually one of the first Disney stars to transform from an actress to an artist and set the tone for many to follow.

As her fame took her into adulthood, Duff adjusted as a mother, philanthropist, and actress. Today she has even become a role model for fellow mothers with how she parents and her postpartum body honesty. Duff has came full circle from being a role model for young girls to moms.

6 Train Wreck: Lindsay Lohan

Lohan has been a child actress since she was little. She began with Disney in movies like The Parent Trap. She filled our lives with many great films, but Lohan took a hiatus from the industry due to some legal issues. Lohan was arrested for several DUIs and repercussions of those such as probation issues and violations.

Lindsey lost countless roles and tried rehab several times before admitting she has a problem. Lohan failed to attend substance classes, and became a trouble to work with. She had personal issues, partied too much, and was an insurance risk for many. Her public image was more about partying than working, and despite many attempts to curb that, it was the truth.

5  Innocent: Madison Pettis

Madison Pettis grew up on a Disney channel show, starred in The Game Plan with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and now she is 19 and still hasn't become a train-wreck. Pettis has remained innocent over the years leaving many of us with the impression that she is still that little girl from Cory in the House causing ruckus and getting into mischief of all sorts.

Today Pettis is still working in the industry and has done several voice overs for Disney channel shows. Pettis has a public relationship with a future NBA player, Michael Porter Jr. The two took their relationship public a few months ago after Porter "slid into her DM's" on social media.

4 Train Wreck: Raven-Symone

The former Disney star who did some time as a talk show host started her career working with Bill Cosby. Her career start is now tied to rape allegations which she says she was not a victim of. Symone might be back on Disney channel these days for a revamp of her show That's So Raven, but things haven't always been so great.

Since leaving Disney, she did what many child stars do and rebel against the "good girl" image. While working on The View, Symone and her mouth got her into some trouble. She had some controversial statements on the show that left many shocked and furious. She made a statement about not hiring people with "untraditional" names poking fun at being discriminatory when it came to the hiring process. Many were confused because Raven is an obviously non-traditional name.

3 Innocent: Adrienne Bailon (Houghton)

The former Cheetah Girl is probably thanking her lucky stars that her relationship didn't work out with reality star Robert Kardashian after his onslaught of scandals and baby mama drama. Instead, Bailon is living her best life keeping up with her acting career and recently getting married. Many of us also know her from 3LW and That's So Raven.

She has kept the drama to the minimal over the years and seems to live a semi-normal life despite growing up in the public eye. She even goes on to be extremely real about what it's life for someone who is cheated on to find out and that thought process. She stays relevant with influencer culture and has c0-hosted a talk show. She has been very adamant about making a name for herself because of her work, not by association to anyone else.

2 Train Wreck: Mary-Kate Olson

We all probably know the twin from her iconic role as Michelle Tanner on Full House. The twin no longer does much acting, but she has worked in the fashion industry with her sister designing a clothing line.

As kids the twins kept us all laughing on Full House, but they also worked on countless shows and movies throughout the years until they were adults. As adults they took a step back from acting. Mary-Kate dealt with an eating disorder. Both girls have been the center of some serious drug accusations. In addition, many have seen this twin partying too much for comfort prior to settling down and getting married.

1 Innocent: Emily Osment

The former Disney channel star now has a lead role in Young and Hungry on Freeform. Osment is no stranger to the acting world and has been acting since the late 90's. We probably all know her best from her role as Lilly Trescott on Hannah Montana. She was also in Spy Kids 2 and 3.

Osment doesn't let her fame get to her head and instead uses her platform to give back. Her role in Cyberbully earned some awards and recognition as she brought attention to the serious consequences from bullying online. She also uses her platform to work with CosmoGIRL. Osment also does work with St. Jude's Hospital and the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
