Virtual dance classes have become the norm as a result of coronavirus and social distancing and for those with toddlers, having something for them to participate in while not being able to leave the house or, perhaps, being unable afford a private studio that is taking limited students, has been a blessing.

Regardless of what genre of dance your little one enjoys, on YouTube, there are options to follow one teacher through multiple sessions or try out different teachers in one genre to see which form of instruction the toddler prefers most. Better still, by trying out classes virtually, it allows a toddler to see which forms of dance he does or does not like, without any money out of pocket for his parents. It is a win-win for all!

Here are some fun and free online dance classes your toddler can participate in at home.

9 SamCam's Dance Studio

SamCam's Dance Studio offers many online dance classes that vary in genre from ballet to hip hop, tap, and more. Sam is very energetic and engaging with the children and toddlers will be able to follow along with the moves that she does. All of the movements are high energy and toddlers will feel like they are interacting with Sam versus just watching a video.

8 Daniella Ballerina

Daniella Ballerina has a series of ballet classes that dancer, Daniella, and different cartoon friends, participate in. It is very engaging for toddlers because the movements start small and there is a story that is told through the dance movements they do.

The classes are short so that if there are days when the little one does not feel like participating as much, or has a hard time focusing, less can be done. Conversely, when the toddler wants to dance more, he can dance to a couple of the videos and get some great physical activity in.

7 Dance Parent 101

Dance Parent 101 has a different theme for toddlers for each of its various dance classes, which range from tap, ballet, creative movement, jazz, and more.

From dancing in outer space to going on a safari, and more, there is a change of scenery for every class. Each class starts with a warm-up and then the instructor, Samantha, takes the children through a combination, a freeze dance, or another form of creative movement. Between the background that is danced in front of and the music, kids will easily stay entertained for the entire class.

6 Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater

For those who want to try something outside of ballet, why not try flamenco dancing?

These creative movement classes taught by Catherine Beza of Ensemble Español Spanish Dance Theater are a series of classes that build upon one another. As such, once the skills learned in a video are mastered, the next video can be started to continue to learn how to flamenco. The classes are not intimidating and are truly designed with toddlers in mind. And if the little one continues with these videos, he may just be doing the flamenco with the best of them in no time.

5 YouDance

For those toddlers who want to learn how to dance jazz, YouDance is a great place to learn!

Taught by Shelby, this class starts with a warm-up and then does some easy to follow and fun jazz moves that any toddler would love to do. And if your toddler likes learning from Shelby or wants to do further jazz classes, there is an entire series of dance classes to choose from YouDance, including creative movement, ballet, and tap, so there is never an opportunity to get bored.

4 The Ballet Brigade

For those who like to dance to Disney princess music, the Ballet Brigade is a great choice for toddlers. Not only have they put together a routine for Frozen, but they also have routines for most of the princesses' available to dance to as well.

Taught by Miss Nicola, the different movements are broken down in easy to understand language for little ones. And there is even a small series of steps that are put together to dance a quick routine toward the end of the video that the toddler is sure to love to perform all over the home.

3 5TimesFun

Since it is the holiday season, why not get your toddler involved in holiday dance classes? 5TimesFun has a number of fun ones to choose from that toddlers likely already know the words to as well.

With short and easy follow routines to Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty The Snowman, Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, and more, a little one is sure to be in the holiday spirit after dancing a routine to some of his favorite Christmas songs. And as a bonus, every time the song is played around the house, the toddler will love to show off what he learned during his class.

2 Scratch Dance

Sometimes, a toddler just needs to get some energy out. When that happens, it is not always the easiest to get them to follow along to a dance video. As such, why not put on some freeze dance and let them get their wiggles out?

From Scratch Garden, there is a series of videos that are dedicated to nothing by doing freeze dance. They are just long enough that a toddler can work some energy off and do some creative dance movements while he is at it.

1 Royal Entertainers

While many YouTube videos show little ones how to hula, they are generally fairly short, and not much is learned in the few minutes that the video is on. Therefore, why not learn to hula from Moana, of Royal Entertainers, herself?

The movements Moana teaches toddlers are very straight-forward and easy to learn. But, if the steps being taught seem to go too quickly for your toddler when put to music, they will still have fun shaking their hips and moving their arms, participating with Moana. After all, who would not want to dance with a princess?
