Actor Aaron Paul recently appeared on late night TV to share the incredible story behind his daughter’s name.
Hollywood actors can come up with some pretty bizarre names for their kids. There’s Apple, Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s kid, there’s North, the baby daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (that kid's gonna have a great school experience), and then there’s Usher, who also called his baby Usher. No junior or anything, just Usher.
That’s not confusing or anything.
Aaron Paul also follows the Hollywood trend in giving his kid a name that will likely cause regret later, his wife Lauren having given birth in February of this year. But at least he has a great explanation for it.
Appearing on Friday night’s taping of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Paul dished on the story behind his baby daughter’s name: Story.
Just like the story of a more modern romantic comedy, Aaron and Lauren met at Coachella music festival. They immediately hit it off, but after the festival Paul had to return to New Mexico to continue filming Breaking Bad while Lauren returned to Los Angeles.
Cue sad scene of the two pining for each other while staring wistfully out a window.
Then Aaron had an idea: invite her out to Vegas. Y’know, as one does on a first date.
“We did a dinner and a show and we drove back in this old car that I bought in Vegas,” recalled the voice of Todd on Netflix’s BoJack Horseman. “That night we actually bought our unborn baby a leather jacket, and we went to a chapel to get married.” Also the typical Vegas activity.
“But the chapel happened to be closed. And so we took that as a sign and just waited.”
They didn’t have to wait long. The two got engaged in January of 2012 in Paris (maybe to make up for the whole Vegas thing?) and then got married the following May in Malibu.
The best part of the story? “And, no joke, we took $200 and won 16 grand on blackjack. This is a true story.”
Every romance has a story. Aaron’s gonna be a great dad.
